The only annoying part is......some area has weird broadcast towers location.

Example, at my area. Antenna need to aim for many difference direction.

TV1 = point north.
TV2 = point east.
TV3 = point west.

That why when the darn strong wind + rain blew it down, I said, screw this and apply NJOI.

EDIT:
BTW, any update on when the DVB-T2 decoder will be distributed? Last time I read, BR1M applicant can get one for free?

Only selected one. The rest may have to buy it, or just change the TV to the one with DVB-T2 build-in.

Darn, eh, Qash, can we use the singapore dvb-t2 decoder? I see many sellers sell it at lelong.com.my and lowyat garage sales.

You got one of it? How is the remote quality? Some remote buttons really get stuck fast. Possibility of using alternative remote control?

I don't need one, because our new TV (KDL-42W700B) has DVB-T2 build in. So i can't say much. tongue.gif
*
When I bought my TV, there was rumour about dvb-t2 being selected over dvb-t1 last time. You know our goverment behavior lah, there wasnt any confirmation at all. So I selected the one without any digital tuner. Otherwise, if I buy DVB-T2 TV and goverment insists on T1, then I just wasted the money.

QUOTE(mun88 @ Apr 23 2015, 01:24 PM)
tv build in dvb-t2 is better than dvb-t2 decoder, when you use dvb-t2 decoder signal will be decrease compare to build in dvb-t2.
*
-.- Digital signal.......what with signal decrease stuff? Not applicable here.

Signal attenuation only applies for analog signal.

........I saw some of the direct capture feed......

Why 8TV still display dot crawl issue?
Same with TV3, dot crawl all the way. Especially on yellow blue color.

Unqualify to be called digital broadcasting.

Those RTM and Media Prima video source still pure analog based. What is the point broadcast in digital when the damn source full of dot crawl?

Question for those who can receive the digital broadcast.

What video/audio format being used by RTM and Media Prima digital channels?
MPEG2 or H264?

Obviously H264.
*
Generally, transmission tower receives the feed via satellite broadcast.

On Measat 3A at 91.4°E, all RTM channel is using MPEG-4 aka H264. (Hope they wont re-encode H264 to MPEG2 at broadcast tower site)

Now, the problem, on Measat 3 at 91.5°E, Media Prima TV 3 channel is broadcasted using MPEG2. Same with NTV 7, 8TV and TV 9.

I am wondering if the broadcast tower will re-encode MPEG2 to H264 instead of directly broadcast in MPEG2.

It was trial after all, so not much a surprise... hmm.gif

Strange, I dont find any of those broadcast even though I manually enter the transponder frequency and point the dish to ABS-2.

Is the channel encrypted or something? Even with encryption, the decoder ought to mention something like 'Scrambled data'.

Dish size 1.8m diameter with C and Ku/Ka band LNB.

U broadcast / jamming ? Hahaha

Nope, simple receiver only.

Beside, if wanna jam signal, need larger dish and powerful/high wattage transmitter to do so.

No lah just joking. I presumed your LNB looks like one at petrol stn ? What purpose petrol stn use for the huge offset dish with Tx and Rx LNB ?
*
Different than those at petrol station, I got two LNBs installed at the motorised 1.8m diameter dish.
One C-band LNB and one Ku/Ka band LNB.
If I dont recall wrong, the motorised dish is using DiSEqC to spin around. (I think I saw this 'DiSEqC' at the set top box menu)
Mine simply receiver.

The one at petrol station can transmit and receive.

Just to confirm, they are not going to use h265 / HEVC, are they? Like there are no plans for that? I don't want to buy a receiver and 2 years later they switch to HEVC.

To be honest I don't understand why they don't directly start with that in the first place. Saves a lot of bandwidth and is more future proof. Now is the ideal time, because if they start with h264 and switch to h265 later people have to buy another receiver, and they won't be happy about that. And as long as people haven't done so (good luck making them...) you can't switch off the old signal, wasting even more bandwidth.
*
Nope, ASEAN finalized the standard for H264 usage for years to come......

Plus, judging from historical standardization progress = probably can expect 8 to 15 years before H265 is used for DTV broadcast.

Dont forget H265 specification was ratified in April 2013 while H264 was ratified in 2003.

H264 is more widely supported and mature from implementation point of view.
