nice info!
may i know what antenna to use?
is generic antenna from tesco and electrical store suffice?
what specification should i look in antenna?

I used the old TV3 UHF aerial on the roof, just rotate to face the signal from Songkhla transmitter. The Thai DTV signal using UHF band.

As long as the aerial is designed to capture UHF wave, it can be used.

Where are you from / location ?

Apart from TV1 & 2 using analog VHF signal in Kedah, all other channels are using UHF band. TV3 is the first TV stn using UHF in 1986 till now in our area.

btw, from video above, is is true outdoor antenna not needed?
*
Currently, my aerial is without booster. But you may try to add a booster to try and the aerial must be longer as ppl in nortern Msia receive Thai analog TV channels in old days.

Your TV set come with DVB-T2 tuner features ?

I am using old CRT TV and got a set top box from 7-11 Thailand for RM69 to receive DVB-T2.

That NOT true. If signal strength is not strong enough to reach your area, you still need external aerial. Otherwise pixelize mosaic will appear on screen same as viewing Astro in heavy rain days.

I recommended that user who received their DVB-T2 signal displayed their location under their respective profile or avatar, easy for references.

I didn't sell these boxes. The DVB-T2 I'm using now, get from Hatyai Tesco-Lotus shopping mall cost RM99.

If you planned to go Thailand for this long holiday you may find DVB-T2 in electrical shops, Big-C & Tesco-Lotus shopping mall and 7-11 convenient store. Thai have more than 20+ types of DVB-T2 stb ranging from RM69 to RM 120+. RM69 model only have basic features.

Malaysia DVB-T2 broadcast format fully compliant with Thailand and Singapore DVB-T2 broadcast format at the moment.

Yes, I heard that too. I am using MCOT DVB-T2 box @ RM99 White color similar as below (not my pic).

I heard from Thai user that SAMART ENGINEERING manufactured box not bad too. Some Thai user used IPM COMBO means the box have DVB-S2 + DVB-T2 for satellite and terrestrial reception.

Rear panel view of IPM combo features satellite coaxial input and terrestrial antenna input.

The following are DVB-T2 box poll result. Looks like SAMART leading the stb box. SAMART is pioneering in telecommunication apparatus. Previously, the UBC DtH stb supplied by SAMART and they manufacturing satellite dish and V/UHF antenna too. The price may be a little bit higher than RM69 for DVB-T2 stb.

http://pantip.com/topic/31925927/result

The following is a technical comparison reference chart among different makes and model of DVB-T2 boxes eg, CPU, RAM, etc, may be a little bit out of date. This chart is produced in mid-2013 / quarter-2014 before DVB-T2 officially serves public in Thailand. Good for reference. At that time, stb for DVB-T2 at least RM100 and above.

Approx. types of aerial (reference) to be applied according to your receiving location (Rx) from Transmitter (Tx). The transmission wattage plays an important factor to decide types of aerial to be used too.

Recent digital tv trial (all 7 FTA channels) is taken on ABS 2 at 75.0°E, and it's in H264 (temporary place).
*
Taken from 75'E ? Trial using non local satellite channel watch for free ? Astro will jump like monkey kena belacan.

Plus, ABS 2 contains non malaysia local tv programmes. If the trial no choice and have to taken programmes from ABS2, it must be comply with MCMC guidelines and censorship guidelines. Impossible.

Any screenshot ?
