If your outdoof antenna is UHF type, and just fallen down (but everything else intact) then just try first before buying new one. Get someone to put it back up and point towards the direction of the nearest station in relation to your house. I presume it's the Sungei Besi station for Puchong area.

If don't know the direction , use google or ask around your neighbours, see if anyone already installed and follow their direction.

However if your house and the station too far off or there are tall buildings or structures blocking the signal then too bad.

Don't forget your TV need Dvb-t2 built in or an external decoder box and also need to scan the UHF frequencies for the signal.

So you are saying antenna tuned for previous analog stations need to be adjusted to different orientation for digital TV ?

Problem is I have no idea what has happened to my antenna, it just suddenly does not work and I can't receive anything anymore and getting people to climb up there is expensive. LOL.

Damn, I just read at mytv facebook about Sibu having its transmitter activated at this year end or early next year.

Seriously? 6 months just to install one transmitter at Sibu from official launch date?

This mean = Miri City = June 2018  doh.gif

typical Malaysian style..

always very slow in implementing projects..

6month time, just in time for election biggrin.gif

Yes need to align to the nearest digital transmitting station. Now all the stations go through MYTV Broadcasting co. , their service branded as myFreeview.

You can try indoor ariel if you like, but puchong quite some distance from Bukit Sungei Besi station so you need a bit of luck, depending how deep into Puchong you are and obstacles blocking.

first ask, do u really need one? if u got astro/hypptv/android, there is no immediate justification to install

Unfortunately, not everyone has unlimited internet data or subscribe to Astro. MyFreeview is mainly for those non-Astro/non-Njoi subscribers, people who have no unlimited data, and those who used to enjoy free analogue RTM and Media Prima channels. This group of people will have no choice but to find their way to receive digital TV channels before the analogue switch off by the government.

I could not agree more. The faster and bigger bandwidth broadband like TIME is available only in Klang Valley. Everything Klang Valley. Sarawak and Sabah get last. Sarawak so big only get one transmitter. Actually they should ditch Klang Valley and emphasise on Sarawak.
Anyway those enjoying the facilities in Klang Valley are mostly foreign worker and expats.

As same as Astro, those dishes and the equipment does not come cheap and poor people will never afford it. Anyway I think they close eyes on the dishes as they could not (or maybe do not want) afford to spend on infra in Sarawak.

Yes. True.. It's also cost high...

Sarawak is big state... So it's kinda hard to give top class infrastructure like in KV... But slowly it's moving towards it...
Take another few more years I guess.

In Malaysia, the only state that is considered "legal" to use and install parabolic dish is Sarawak.

Since many Sarawak people are poor, and can't afford to pay Astro every month, they rather buy equipment to receive channels from other satellites they want (parabolic dish and receiver) and they take it as a one off payment, cuz they just "purchase" those equipment instead of monthly subscription. And it's not very expensive also la... You can get it for few hundred ringgits, and watch it as long as you like.

If the parabolic dish gets rusty after few years use, you can assume that the dish is a cheap/low quality type.
Good quality ones (usually more expensive ones) don't get rust easily, and you can use it for many many years, like 5-8 years without get rusty, if you take good care of it.

If the dish get rusty, you can spray paint on the rusty part it to make it look "new" again. Cuz if you don't, it may have holes on it. If the hole is too big, it will affect the quality of reception, and eventually the dish will become unusable cuz get very poor signal reception. So, maintenance is important, especially for cheap China dishes.

One of the good quality satellite dish you can get in Malaysia, is our own Astro's 65cm dish. 😂😂😂
It's true though... You don't see Astro dish get rusty after many years of usage, right?
