QUOTE(HaoYuan @ Sep 14 2011, 10:13 PM) Since your question is related to Petrol, you should have read Petrol thread instead before posting here. Like hye said, all of us here have contributed by posting info (at the relevant threads) for the benefit of others. Anyway, updated 1st page to answer your question and also mentioned that online transactions may not be entitled to 5% cash back on weekends. QUOTE(skincladalien @ Sep 14 2011, 11:20 PM) Let me tell you that it is not worth it to use your Amex to buy something online on overseas currency, even though it is a weekend. I did a amazon online transaction over a weekend thinking I will be rebated 5%, but turns out that the transaction date on my bill appeared as 3 days later (weekday) after the actual transaction date. My conversion charge also higher at 2.5% by Amex (actually I am not sure was it 2.5% or 2.5%+0.5%). Whatever it was, you would be better off using your Maybank Master or Visa card for online overseas purchase. Unless you think 5x treatspoint is worth it (equivalent to about 2.5% also) Gen.X Quote#13 ( Jun 3 2011) is true: 13. The 5% cash back on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) for MBB 2 AMEX includes Petrol and is additional to the 5X Treats Points. However it is reported that some online transactions on weekends DO NOT earn the 5% cash back as it depends on the timing the merchant processes the transaction. QUOTE(shiroikun @ Sep 16 2011, 10:45 AM) Not true. Actually, Maybank gives you 6% off for all Maybankard VISA/MasterCard regardless of card ranking while HSBC is based on card ranking. HSBC Agoda promotion (more like a year-round promotion really as they have been renewing their partnership with Agoda for many times already): Classic/Gold > 5% Advance Platinum, VISA Platinum, VISA Signature > 6% Premier MasterCard, VISA Infinite > 7% QUOTE(Titan_Gunners @ Sep 16 2011, 03:54 PM) Given by both Maybank and Agoda i suppose. It is valid only if you use a valid card from the participating bank and you must access the Agoda website via the bank's promotional link. The discount will be automatically reflected in the checkout page after you key-in your credit card number. |

If i'm not mistaken, Amazon process credit card offline just like DELL Malaysia which explains why they do not process your card on the weekend.

This is correct. Amazon is not a good site for purposes of getting the Amex rebate. They will do a temporary charge for some amount to check if the card is valid. Only if this goes through, do they charge the full amount and this is what you see in your CC statement. |
