However, it is kind of sad that many shops are starting to reject AMEX. Out of 10 shops I visit, around 8 shops rejects it.
They are not starting to reject AMEX. It's just that most of them never accept the card to begin with because in their contracts signed with their credit card terminal provider, AMEX is not part of the deal.

Anyway, i have no problem using my AMEX at all the places i frequent. As a matter of fact, it is my most heavily used credit card now. Whenever AMEX is not accepted, i'll use my Citibank VISA then smile.gif

Hi all,
Anyone have used before AMEX in agoda and get 5% rebate?
Since we're in MBB2 thread here. I assume the AMEX you're holding is a MBB2 AMEX ? Use your MBB2 VISA or MBB2 MasterCard to book a hotel room through Agoda and get 6% off the room rate.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 24 2011, 10:59 PM)
If I go and buy Starbucks tomorrow, I'll get 5% discount, 5xTP and buy 1 free 1 right? biggrin.gif

icon_idea.gif If I'm not mistaken I did that for last month. rclxms.gif
Spot on!

I would like to ask about agoda as well...if i book on agoda on sat will i get the points and cash back?
Yes. If you pay for your booking using MBB2 AMEX, you will get both the 5% cash back (assume you do the booking on weekend) and 5xTP.

QUOTE(wyen @ Jun 25 2011, 10:10 AM)
Besides agoda, what other hotel booking website that accepts Amex?
Hotelclub.com, Expedia.com.my etc.

Why would you keep AMEX Gold Credit Card over Maybankard2 AMEX ????  rclxub.gif  shocking.gif  doh.gif
when mbb2 no longer gave 5x pts tongue.gif
What are you talking about ? MBB2 AMEX still gives 5xTP for all transactions.

Maybank does seem pretty efficient these days especially when it comes to processing the application for Maybankard 2. My mom faxed the application form to them this morning and she received a call from them approximately 5 minutes later to confirm that they have already received the form and will now process it thumbup.gif

Maybe MBB dual Fever has gone.
Can proceed faster now. brows.gif
But then, i was among the first to apply when they introduced this MBB2 cards back in January and they were very efficient then too. My application was approved in just 1 or 2 working days from the date they received my application form through fax rclxms.gif

I think you misread abit. The transaction was succesful at the second attempt. My concern is, only the 'problematic' transactions didnt appear in M2U.
The first transaction did not go through. So no. It won't be posted to M2U.

QUOTE(cranx @ Jul 6 2011, 02:54 AM)
the weekend 5% is really attractive but American Express is widely acceptable?
mostly i see retail only accept visa/master. hmm.gif

any default credit limit for the platinum cards?
1. Depends where do you frequent or shop.
2. Yes. A credit limit is assigned for MBB2 cards and is shared by both MBB2 AMEX and MBB2 VISA/MBB2 MasterCard.

ermm...I just applied Maybank card 2 last sunday at 1 utama card center...I just need my previous maybank credit card..no payslip or other document needed...n got Maybank card 2 already...

Very fast processing...wait only 1 1/2 hour...then collect the cards and used it straight away...very2 nice...

n straight away bring back some souvenir where i spend more then rm300 in single receipt...

really think will do shopping again in 1 utama lol
That's because you are already an existing customer. I actually got mine by using my HSBC MasterCard as reference. However, this method is no longer possible for new applicants.

yesterday i received sms said that my application for maybankard already approve and i check in my maybank2u.. it already there

so when actually i can get my cards?? 1 weeks from now?? or they will call up to inform us to come to get the cards??
Can be on the next day too. My mom received an sms from Maybank last night that her application for MBB2 is approved. And guess what ? Poslaju came about an hour ago rclxms.gif

Anyway, this means we can save more money from now on tongue.gif However, there is one bad news. The credit limit assigned to my mom is shocking. I mean shockingly low! She was a Maybankard holder 3 years ago and her credit limit then was higher. I helped her to apply using her salary slips and her salary is actually higher than it was 3 years ago. She is not subject to the 2 credit card issuers ruling, by the way.

You can try to ask for a CL increase by writing in to mbbcardservices@maybank.com.my and attached scanned copy of last 2 months salary slips. That was how I did. I managed to get the CL increase that I wanted.  smile.gif

Based on my experience, MB is using the old salary when assigning CL for existing card holder. Either they are lazy to
update the system or due to some other reasons known to them.  unsure.gif
Yeah. Guess i'll do that. Hopefully they can at least match her old credit limit. Thanks, will give it a shot smile.gif

I pay after 2nd of every month. But just that I always pay according to my statement amount  sweat.gif
How much is shockingly low? Mine they give about 1.5X my salary only.
Just really low that caught me by surprise. They gave her higher credit limit last time. It was for the Maybankard Gold AMEX.

Any ideas how the bank determines the validity of each card issued ? I got my Maybankard 2 Cards in January this year and it is going to expire in January 2014. However, my mom's is only going to expire in July 2016. I'm just curious ...

I got mine in April and will expire in 2016.

However, mine is just Gold MBB2 cards, not sure about other Platinum holders.
Yeah. My mom's a Gold too. The AMEX looks suspiciously like a Platinum card, by the way biggrin.gif

Yeah, at one glance. laugh.gif
But too bad it has a yellow (gold) oval shape printed on the card. tongue.gif
I personally think the yellow color made all the difference. The real Platinum card just looks a bit too dull biggrin.gif

Anyway, what to do I'm still a low income earner, just started to work. No chance for platinum yet. sad.gif
That day will come smile.gif

Don't know why your validity period is shorter.
Yours a Platinum as well ? Yeah, i'm very curious too. About how they decide on the validity of the card.

Yup, it is a platinum.
Maybe you can call up MBB Platinum Services, free of charge, don't care lah  tongue.gif
LOL! Don't think it actually warrants a call to MBB hotline. Precisely why i asked it here. Like a casual talk something like that. Not exactly very important. Just wanted to give it a try here. May be some of you may know biggrin.gif

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Jul 10 2011, 11:20 PM)
if it's ur first mbb card, the period is shorter, am i right?

hmm.gif , mine is until 2015 although i previously held few different types of cards from mbb
and i had AMEX gold when they gave me the m2 plat without applying rclxub.gif

so no idea how they decide
No sure. Yeah. This is my very first credit card from Maybank.
