Hi, I had a foreign currency transaction on 28 Aug 2011 posted on 30 Aug 2011 using amex. The amount is £81 (RM406.35). How could I know what is the forex rate used by mbb and how much the admin charges imposed? thank you..

QUOTE(lykuan82 @ Aug 31 2011, 10:06 PM) u r right:)waiting for 1st Sept to see the cash back amount.. Added on August 31, 2011, 11:16 pm QUOTE(hye @ Aug 31 2011, 08:27 PM) Quite simple mathematics right ? just curious to know the mbb rate only.. haha.. btw, is amex admin charges =2.5%?, if yes, could i just divide the total amount by 1.025 and then only divide by 81 to get the forex rate?Amount charged = RM406.35 vs GBP81 which give you 5.0167 Use any forex website or Wawasan to look for GBP forex on the 28th Aug. Difference between the both are the admin charges. P/S The last few steps are for you to do it yourself. May I know why you wish to know the forex rate and the admin charges ? QUOTE(azam_halim @ Sep 8 2011, 12:31 PM) it depends on how the merchant do the epp..usually, if it involve u having to call mbb to confirm the 12months epp, you are left with 1k cl left in the first month....if it is between u and merchant only, you will have 3750 cl in first month...last time i use mbb cc to do epp at carrefour and senq...both charge on monthly basis, not the whole ammount..i know this for sure coz afterward, i still able to use the cc although by calculation, i should have OVERlimit Same case here.. I paid twice but being charged three times.. Yours is local transaction? Should I expect double of your time for oversea transaction? Btw, u call cs to complain?Added on September 8, 2011, 11:44 am last time, it took them about 1 week to settle my 'charge twice' transaction This post has been edited by celaw: Sep 8 2011, 11:55 AM |

QUOTE(azam_halim @ Sep 8 2011, 04:25 PM) mine is local transaction..call cs, ask them to email the 'dispute form', fill up form (if got some sort of proof is better - my only proof is the amount charged is exactly the same to the last cent), email back to them Maybank credit the amt to me after 2 days from dispute date! very efficient! however, there is a 33 cents different as Maybank treat the credit as another transaction on a different date.. the difference is due to foreign exchange.. |

QUOTE(kartz25 @ Sep 16 2011, 05:43 PM) Let me tell you that it is not worth it to use your Amex to buy something online on overseas currency, even though it is a weekend. I did a amazon online transaction over a weekend thinking I will be rebated 5%, but turns out that the transaction date on my bill appeared as 3 days later (weekday) after the actual transaction date. My conversion charge also higher at 2.5% by Amex (actually I am not sure was it 2.5% or 2.5%+0.5%). so it is depend on merchant.. in my case, I paid my acca exam fees during weekend. it has been processed at the date same date (transaction date) and I get the 5% rebate.. the posting date is 2 days later which falls on Monday..Whatever it was, you would be better off using your Maybank Master or Visa card for online overseas purchase. Unless you think 5x treatspoint is worth it (equivalent to about 2.5% also) Gen.X Quote#13 ( Jun 3 2011) is true: 13. The 5% cash back on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) for MBB 2 AMEX includes Petrol and is additional to the 5X Treats Points. However it is reported that some online transactions on weekends DO NOT earn the 5% cash back as it depends on the timing the merchant processes the transaction. so if got 5% rebate, it is worth using amex for foreign currency transaction during weekend.. |

Btw, I thought the service tax will charge into Master/Visa card only from the previous post? |
