Any suggestion on 185/60/14 tires? Currently I am using XM1 and I am pretty satisfy with it although it would be better if it was slightly gripper. Now, it is time to change and I feel like going away from the ordinary and safe choice and not choose XM2. Budget around 200, any good alternative?

hye marsox.. i use same tyre spec as u (205/50/16).. usually what tyre pressure u use?

it stated in d tyre the max is 51 psi..but in my previous tyre (195/60/15) i just pump 33 psi max
*
Rite now pump in 32 psi bro, this one the tyre shop recommend it when change to this size.
but if i go for balik kampong n long journey, will pump 34 in front n rear for 32

Hi guys ... not sure if this is the correct place to post but .. does anyone fill their tyres with nitrogen ? When i bought my rim and tyres from Klang (infamous place to change rims), they say it's good so I just pump. Now when i get back to Puchong, so damn hard to find a place to pump nitrogen. Anyone know of any place around Puchong to get nitrogen for tyres ?
*
bro, same case with me, change rim for my gf in klang n they use the nitrogen gas, but then i ask the foreman, how to topup the gas??coz hard to find shop to topup da gas, n he say just pump in the normal air at the gas station only, dont need to topup the nitro gas..
is it true??can we just add the nitro with normal gas??

dis is d best choice...
but d current price is quite high...
unless u manage to get d old pricing...

fyi, most of the shop doesn't pump the tires with 100% nitrogen.
some % of nitrogen and the rest is oxygen. barring any tires problem, topping up with oxygen
once in a while should be okay. some shop is charging rm1 for refill while other doing it foc for come back customer.
after all, nitrogen could hold the pressure much longer than oxygen.

On the topic of tires, I would like to get some feedback.

I'm in the same situation... 185/60/14, currently using Bridgestone Turanza ER60 (always thought that means ERGO). Not bad, but if there is something that's better... XM2 sounds good, what about the CC5? Specially designed for Asia? hmm.gif Is that a good or a bad sign? (I really don't need tyres that perform well during winter, as the Pirelli P6 seem to). The Turanza AR-10 might also be worth a look... the Turanza ER 300 are supposed to perform really well in terms of wet and especially dry handling, comfort also very good, FC a bit higher and wears out very fast. sad.gif Look kinda similar to the AR-10...

The Michelin Energy Saver seem to be really good, low FC (not by very much though), good performance (though not the best), very long lasting. But how does the Energy Saver compare to the XM2 which _should_ be similar judging by Michelin's description?

Is there any good comparison of tyres, such as http://translate.googleusercontent.com/tra...qOjrifI8fU5V1sg (price, test result, dry, wet, noise/comfort, fuel consumption, durability). Unfortunately those tyres are not available here... (not that they would make sense in Malaysia, with the different weather).
The only thing I found was a consumer report New Zealand, but there you have to pay sad.gif

I'm looking for good handling (especially in the rain...), low noise, decent FC (not much difference it seems, ze Germans found a difference of 0.2L/100km between the best and the worst tyre in that category). Long lasting would be nice, but it's not so important...

@erictaxman: If you drive a front wheel car put the better tyres in front. Rear wheel drive it's more complicated, but probably put the better ones behind. And never exchange left with right.

new tires should be installed to where most of the power are into (running wheels). in awd configuration,
should be to where the higher % of power distributed to.
btw, i've had come across some crap advice / theory ; regardless of the running wheels, new tires should be at the rear.
the reason; simply because it provides more grip during wet road cornering.
then again, how often we drive fast in wet corner?
we can practice the art of controlling an oversteer / understeer but nothing beat the advantage of having control on
most of the traction / grip on the good set of tires.

I am not surprise since 195/50/R15 RE002 also easily RM300/pc already, a bit extra more can get semi slicks already ~_~

I'll put in front if I were you. Had an experience turning while on raining day with tyre thread less than 50%, there is no traction at all, even tho steering have been turn but the car is still going straight. It's not fun...

you guys need to read this.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tec...e.jsp?techid=52

====================
Intuition suggests that since the front tires wore out first and because there is still about half of the tread remaining on the rear tires, the new tires should be installed on the front axle. This will provide more wet and wintry traction; and by the time the front tires have worn out for the second time, the rear tires will be worn out, too. However in this case, intuition isn't right...and following it can be downright dangerous.
