Oh, so sorry. I even thought that was a funny name.

A car club in Germany sugggests ff cars put tyres in front. Hm. Even with snow I had to use the hand take to get the car to oversteer. Otherwise it simply understeers, which is just as dangerous and perhaps even harder to manage.

why nobody bothers to go read the link that i posted?

sleep.gif everyone comes up with their story, i think the tirerack did some studies.

anyway, best to change all 4 tyres together.

i did read the link, but they never mention what car, what speed. kinda hard to judge the relevance to own car and situation.

and not come out with own story, it's from experience. understeer when cornering + raining even tho at low speed. oversteer only happen when cornering + raining + speeding, which people shouldn't be speeding in the 1st place if raining.

and of coz, the best is still to change all 4 tyre.

yea, i think they mean

old tyre in front = understeer. ( just lift your foot, then it can be corrected)

old tyre at rear = oversteer.

so, pick your choice tongue.gif

i remember dunlop/michelin had a youtube video on this topic, let me go back to search.

On the topic of tires, I would like to get some feedback.

Do you guys put NEW tires in FRONT or BEHIND?
*
there is a whole lot of arguement to this and there is no wrong or right here...
it all depends on your driving style.....

QUOTE(yngwie @ Dec 20 2011, 07:57 PM)
then again,  how often we drive fast in wet corner?

there is no definite answer for that...
some believe internet is the truth and swears by it...
some swears by their personal experience...

best is for u to judge your own driving style + your car combo and u decide yourself....

front rear new old oversteer or understeer are all theory only and there is a line between theory and practical...
nope.. couch racers dont help in this case....

and believe me... 95% of the drivers dont even use up to 80% of their tyres actual grip capability....

well, it depends. whistling.gif
actually, quite a number of us prefer wet condition brows.gif
btw, new tires placement is much depends on the driving style and car setup ; ie, running wheels.

exactly!
they only realize how important the grip and traction are when they venture into other
ppl's car / drain.
fine example ; a friend of mine insisted on falken 522 against my advice. recently, he ventured into a drain
and then he realize it was the tires that didn't stop in time. not his twinpot doh.gif

and if we ever noticed, quite a lot of cars out there are running with cheap tires which even beat the slicks in
tread looks, in other term, ' botak' doh.gif

Some people feel that its unnecessary to find the limits of the tires, saying, why push the limits? You're not going to be pushing the limits every time also. doh.gif

saw a lot of big cars using falken. and small car using michelin.

i wonder if sometimes they stretch their budget too much.

and nothing beats a camry 2.4 using a botak yokohama C drive. sleep.gif

Falken also got top line model.

i remember last time 5th Gear have made braking test with worn tyre thread but still a bit higher than UK's minimum safety thread, and it still couldn't stop the car fast enough on wet surface. but here we even use the tyre till botak. sweat.gif

for the regular driver, they will be hard pressed to know whats the diff between grip and traction...
even "motorheads" will also be hard pressed to tell the diff...

so for them (regular drivers) any tyres will do (which is true) as they only go A to B with the occasionally high-way over the legal speed limit straight line travel...

real drivers will want to know the limit of their tires ma
dry.gif

and believe me, some ppl actually bring their tyres to the max everytime they drive...
a certain RRR here
