i'm also searching for 195/55/15 now..
so far what i've found are:
- yokohama a drive for rm220 a piece
- falken ze 522 for 185
- dunlop formula d01 for 185

looking for a bit of performance for my next batch of donuts so thinking of getting the D01.. read some feedback online and only the D01 sounds ok while the 522 has poor wet grip and the a drive is just average..

what do you guys think? also how much does a bridgestone andrenalin cost a piece for 195/55/15 size?
*
At that price why don't u get v12 or Ku-31.

yeah.. think i will be getting v12 evo tmrw at tek ming.. did more reading and asking after i posted that post.. biggrin.gif

rclxms.gif Good boy hehehe. All the other tyres you mentioned is only ok if there's no other better option. Korean tyres are cheap but with decent performance. If you have more budget can take PS3. For 15 inch it's still cheap.

Between PS3 and S drive. Performance S drive better but comfort cannot beat PS3.

i used to be a yokohama fan. from my experience, the ps3 is slightly ahead of the s.drive in performance.
different is negligible thou. choices down to lower noise of ps3.
the only moment the s.drive come out top was during heavy downpour drive.
how i wish the ps3's sidewall could be a little stiffer thou.
*
Having used ps3 before I'd say it's on par with s drive but because of the lembik sidewall seriously the performance is sacrifice. It still the better choice because of its comfortness and performance. While S drive is seriously noisy.

bought a pair of ps3 dis evening @ Rm480 with balancing + allignment...
dun reali feel exremely quiet...
*
ps3 is really quiet compared to other uhp tyres. 912 isn't uhp grade. Just normal street tyre. Falken has other higher performance tyre than 912. Try and compare similar uhp tyres and hear you can hear that ps3 is quiet and comfortable.

what's the price for RE001 at 205 50 16? what about side profile 55 aswell?
*
Re001 at 16 inch? Good luck finding at price 320 shocking.gif . Try Yoko A drive R1. Performance should be enough if money is tight. Or just revert back to 15 inch to get lower price for UHP tyres. Find lowered sport springs to reduce the gap.

Well I do drive fast sometimes...but of course, there's only so much speed a Vios can handle, I just want something safe that gives me good grip in all conditions.
I realised quite some body rolling when making corner (or highway exits which you have to make a big big big circle), so is it because the car is built like this, or can the tyre help it?

PS is RM200+- considered cheap for a tyre? Sorry this is my first time changing tyre LOL

Thanks so much!
*
Get PS3. For 15 inch it is still affordable compared to 16 and 17 inch. You'll regret not getting it when the price is hike again. Tyre prices will only go up and up and up and up. You might not afford it anymore in the future so get it now.

Dear All,

im currently using PS3 for 225/40/18 ZR

time to chnage but ps3 price increased  fast from last year rm655 Klang Hin Leong and now rm790 from  the same shop.

Im now looking into other brands such as
1) Yokohama  S drive
2) Toyo TR1
3) Conti sport 2
Or any other recommend?  my bedget is rm600 or below per piece.

Many thanks.
*
I'm using S drive now. My own opinion is it's on par with PS3 in terms of performance. Better in corners due to harder sidewall. But lacks in comfort. Hard ride and noisy compared to PS3. Stay away from conti. I shake my head driving my friend's car fitted with CSC2. Toyo never tried. Take a look at Kumho and Hankook too.

QUOTE(yan5619 @ Jun 20 2011, 11:55 PM)
What is the price for a piece of PS3?
Thanks!
*
Should be around 250-270. It might increase again so your choice if want to skip this tyre thinking that its price is expensive. But you might regret next time when the price is no longer that. 16 inch price for PS3 is close to Rm500. Compare that to the 15 inch price.

That's a common statement used by tyre shops to increase prices and push off old stock. This method has been used since 2 years ago. So far ive tested out the pricing over the past 1 year and found that prices have actually remained the same despite all the claims about price increases. The Michelin XM1 was priced at RM 179 back in Oct last year and now its priced at RM 175 despite 3 increases.

Dont believe what tyre shops tell you about increases. The older tyres are the more difficult it is to sell them. There will always be stock which you can bargain for but never get tyres which are more than 6 mths old.

If ure in KL, then use Tyrezone and Lim Tayar. They are competitors and if ure smart you can play them off each other to get yourself better prices.
*
I don't think the price hike affected normal tyre like XM1. Certain performance tyre did increased in price. XM2 is already out so XM1 price might go down some more. I observed Yokohama A drive price remain same from last year but A drive R1 had slight price increased. PS3 price definitely gone up especially 16 and 17 inch. But the last price hike doesnt seems to include 15 inch ps3. 17 inch Hankook v12 confirm got increased price.

XM1 also went up. If u go and ask Lim Tayar and Tyrezone they will quote you RM 205 for these tyres. BUt i managed to fight and nego down to RM 175
*
XM2 is out. XM1 will be phased out or continue? If it's going to be stop, its price can haggle more a bit.

Hi guys,

Hope this is correct place to ask...

user posted image

Do you think my tyre already "botak" and need new one?Currently using 205/45 16" ventus hr II and if you notice there's a wide gap between tyre and fender. Is it enough if I replace 45 with 50 to fill the gap?

If I already need to change my tyres, what is the best tyre I can get for rm250/pcs?

Yokohama A.Drive R1 look nice but wonder it have 205/50 16" size or not...

Thanks...
*
A 17 inch tyre will fill that gap nicele tongue.gif

if you're on 205/45/16, stick with it. there are far more choices with that size compare to 205/50/16.
instead of changing the tires, you may play around with suspension to increase handling and looks.
btw, it's not advisable to go for long journey with bulging tires. do not risk your life.

Can we mix different profiles like 205/5016/ front and 204/45/16 rear? or vice versa

much depend on your ride. performance cars does not use identical size to compromise on weight , power
distribution and handling.
while standard sedan car usually use an identical size on 4 side!
either way, if it was the fwd, to compensate for the differences in performance and speedo reading,
you could use one with minimal different on front and another size on rear.
in my case, am using  225/45/17 front and 235/45/17(spacer) rear. but mine was rwd, anyway.
more for handling but make sure to keep an eye on alignment / uneven tyre wear..

btw, you may not have the luxury of being able to rotate the tyres.
*
I was thinking of changing rear to 205/45/16 from 205/50/16. Because rear tyre is hitting fender. ALready put in the the coil buffer. No difference. So a lower profile tyre might fix the problem.

coz the one absorb the bumpy road condition is absorber while spring is to restore the ride level.. before this happen or not this problem? or just recently?
*
I change from stock size 195/55/15 to 205/50/15. When stock never happen like that.

should be okay with 205/50/16. provided the suspension is not worn out.
as usual, some compromise in speedo reading / overall performance.

*
Yes should be ok but it's not. It's hitting the fender under full load. that's why I'm thinking of changing the rear tyre to 205/45/16. Suspension is not worn out.

ATR SPORT this tyre any review? 205 50 16...aggressive drive... ok ah?
*
Using it now. Only the the tyre thread looks aggressive. You get what you paid for, it's nowhere near ps3 or s drive for aggressive driving. It's not too bad. Like I said you get what you paid for. If you want to drive aggressive, get the tyre that suit your driving style. Don't buy this tyre if you drive it like you're using UHP class tyre.

exactly!
am using it for drift / touge' round in dry due to its dirt cheap price. slightly better than the ol' silverstone evol8 on traction.
less progressive steering feel, noisy and actually quite bad in wet.
then again, couldn't complaint much since 4pcs of atr sport 16" is still marginally cheaper than 2pcs pf ps3.  tongue.gif
*
I agree it's bad in wet. But its traction rating is AA. Curious about the rating.
