Thank you. Price is so cheap I think better to buy it than Silverstone or Sime.

My Nexen N6000 exploded during 100km/h drive on highway.

Changed both my front tires to N6000 at Tek Ming less than 5 months back. 1 week ago I notice the left N6000 had reached the Min Treadwear Indicator, but the front right piece still has 70% left. Cant be my absorber or alignment as I just did it less than 6 months back.

So I switched the fronts to the back, thinking to change the tire in a couple of week. But it exploded before I could do anything.

I suspect of the quality issue. Made me think twice before buying Korean tires from now on. However I think Hankook is quite good.

What sort of concern should I have changing from 185/65R15 to 195/65R15?

I've checked the clearance of stock tire, it seems ok though.

Any ideas?

the general rule = you get what you pay for.

however korean tires aren't that bad and i believe they are improving. and i also know there are many satisfied users. could be a lemon unit, hard to say/tell for sure. try to do a warranty claim on the tire since it well, exploded clean.

height clearance won't be an issues cine the profile/rim diameter is the same.

only concerns would be:
- rim potentially not wide enough to support the additional width (then again there are some really radical fittings so this shouldn't be a concern either)

- tire hit fender issue on the inside, which means need spacers
get it in pairs, prolly just a thin one since just 185 to 195

if you fit the tire and the clearance is still ok, then no need spacer (save your money and better wheel rigidity since no additional element)

There are some of club members fitted with 195/60R15. No issue at all.

The problem now is getting 195/60 tires, aiming for comfort and better grip.

I asked on Conti CPC2, that's what the guy suggested 195/65.

Wanted to try other tires, but it seems Puchong not many choices except those cheaper ones.

if other members feedback no issue and assuming they have not modded the springs, then it'll be of no issue.

im on 195/55/15. pretty much same criteria/requirement, and i'm very satisfied on my Yokohama c drive 2 smile.gif

there are many claims on fast treadwear, which is true, however i've used my tires for like 19-20k km, 1 year, and its only about 50-60% left. not too bad i think. (was expecting worse since many feedback that the tires only last 30-40k km)
it's not like i don't drive my car aggressively either rolleyes.gif

My stock 18 inch Nexen (CP643a) on my K5 exploded end of last year while i was driving at 130kmph on the NSE. Despite having a puncture in the middle of the tyre thread, the entire sidewall of the tyre was torn very cleanly around the entire circumferance of the tyre. Doesnt seem normal to me at all. Have never seen a sidewall separate to cleanly.

OMG. scary man. i only had one puncture in more than 10 yrs of driving and that was on a rented car driving at 110 on the highway.

i see lotsa tire remains on the roads and assumed that these are from retreaded truck tyres.

now this got me thinking. how common are tyre explosions?

Dangerous. 2 case of N6000 exploded at not so high speed.
Even the lousy 3 years old Silverstone M300 or something which I push around corners for about 1.5 hours journey also no problem.
Nexen is out of my list already sweat.gif

How quiet is the Michelin Pilot Super Sports compared to other Michelin tyres or the Goodyear Assy 2? Im talking about 18 inch rims. My current Nexen's are damn noisy.

Pls stay away from ATR Sport.

Its very unpredictable - once about 50% used, totally looses grip AND by 30% atleast there is tendency for it to explode. It does not have any sort of metal mesh from the mid to the side - my neighbour had used one on his altis and the bloody thing just popped at 30kmh. Thank god he was safe
