Getting Started

|
Hi bro & sis, I'm using Bridgestone MY01 195/50/R15 only last for 1 year I need to change it. I'm looking for comfort type as I really cannot stand the noise with current model.
I'm checking on XM2 but do not have 195/50/R15 size for my saga FLX 1.6 SE.
Any recommendations please? I need help urgently...Thanks

QUOTE(yngwie @ Dec 23 2012, 09:46 AM) comfort wise, ps3 is a rung above the pp2 but pp2 beat the ps3 in handling. i concluded the grip and traction are on par as my previous experience with ps3 return a good wet grip. Blame the softer sidewall But it's fine. I wanted the Primacy LC actually cuz i'm getting old and wanted a comfortable tyre. Apparently they stopped selling it due to poor feedback (too soft, many complained bulging problem) and no way i'm getting the XM2 I'm impressed with the noise level of this tyre. But i'll wait for it to fully break-in before commenting further.

QUOTE(CocoMonGo @ Dec 5 2012, 10:34 PM) yeah took me awhile to figure that out I will try to source for the C Drive 2 after I saw quite a lot of favorable comments on it. Seems it would be a better deal them michelin XM2. QUOTE(mytaffeta @ Dec 18 2012, 04:08 AM) i drive same as yours, so what would you recommend? 195/50/16 what brand produce this size? QUOTE(Thrust @ Dec 21 2012, 08:24 AM) On 2nd thoughts, I think better to stick to 185/55/16. I saw another City using Falken ZE912 195/50/16, the tyre looks like a fat donut I will go for Michelin XM2 since they have the native size of 185/55/16. It cost RM285 for a donut. I drive 2011 city too... was on achiles sport atr 195/50/16 but today had a flat and the flat was combi of nail and a burst tyre... flat was caused by burst tyre and appears under inflated Scout around and my tyre shop says only tyre available is stock tyre but bigger in size... Falken ziex thread usage fast... yokohama r01 only 2 piece left... xm2 no stock No choice so going back to conti cpc2 195/50/16 at rm290 a piece

Dear all,
I'm currently using Silverstone Kruizer NS500 with the size of 205/50R16. So far quite happy with it, reasonably good handling and grip, and give no problem to me so far for the past 3.5 years with 65k mileage.
But it's time to change now and I think this model is quite rare now. So would like to have some recommendations about which model to go for. 90% city drive, with occasionally long distance but no high speed >150. So safety (grip) and comfort (quite) will be my priority.
Budget around RM300, so for now my target is Conti MC5. But I have browsed around this forum and found out that I can get NT8000 for RM210 and PS3 for around RM450! Just wonder if the price different really worth it?
Thanks

The price should be correct, it's around RM210 to RM220, at least for Klang's price I always drive within the speed limit, maybe that's why I'm still OK with the Kruizer NS500 This post has been edited by atah: Dec 29 2012, 10:37 AM

Had a choice to swap my OEM Conti Premium Contact 2
went for the most pricey choice at RM300, the Toyo DRBs but have alternatives (in decending price order)
1. Yoko A Drive R1 (RM250) 2. Falken 912 (RM240) 3. Continental Premium Contact 2 (RM230) 4. Nankang NS2 (RM170) 5. Achilles ATR Sport (RM170)
please tell me i made a wise choice T___T

Just spent some time googling about tires and since i google using my tire size, here's my review on the Toyo DRB at 195/50/16 size
1. Outlook and first impressions The tire is a semi-directional type with blocks at the sides, rounded at the edges. Beside them are two closed d shaped thread that gives it that semi-directional shape, and a solid unbroken hard centre rib down the middle with a strip of red ink (manufacturing marking). Tire looks less premium than the current stock CPC2s but it suits me so i'm fine with it. The edges as mentioned earlier is rounded, as compared to the square-blocked A-Drive R1s. Thread is reasonably thick, though A Drive R1s are thicker even, which i believe contributes to its awesome threadwear. Other options to be considered during my purchase include the stock CPC2, A Drive R1, Falken 912, Nankang NS2, and Achilles ATR Sport.
2. Decision From the above choices, i decided to go for the priciest option for the heck of it. Its the only tire made in Japan so that's comforting to a certain level. I also wanted to try something different than the same ol CPC2. Nankang NS2 was priced at RM170 per piece, similar to the ATR Sport. Nankang NS2 however had very bad reviews, and i was considering ATR Sport. However, a fellow forum member once mentioned that it bulges and some cheaper Korean tires tend to burst out on highways. I don't do highways much but i rather not it happen at all. I do not like Falken 912s as i had personally bad experience with it being severely unbalanced, uneven wear (not due to alignment), and bad threadwear. The A Drive R1s are a good choice on my previous car with its long TW and ok grip but i wanted something different. The Yokos are RM250 each and the Falkens are 240 each. I bought the Toyos at 300 each.
3. actual usage Well, i didn't use much of it yet, under a thousand kms but then it has already shone. it has good roadholding (i tried some quick-ish u-turns), not as noisy when driven in car parks, pretty ok water dispersing (it rained like nobody's business right after i bought it), and no major issues. comfort is there and since tires are new, its pretty quiet.
4. future will update on the grip and lifespan but so far, so good.
