well, it depend on. once, i was on 522 which is of japan made( older 522 is quite okay. check out the rebadged firenza too).  but after i changed to a new set of 522 made in indonesia, turn out there is a different in performance. sidewall aside, compare to the japan made, the indonesian made 522 does not offer sufficient grip in wet driving. also, further braking distance.
*
just to check...but are u sure about this? u sure its not just the whole japan and indonesia placebo?

coz ive used ST115 made in Japan and then immediately after the ST115 made in Indonesia (same size, same rim, same car, same setup) and there was no difference at all. except for the made in indonesia badge on the sidewall.

you have a proton savvy as well bro? i heard u did a lot of spirited driving with it, i wanted some good tires on my savvy, but the stock 175 50 15 size is just too limited, always stuck with NCT5.
any recommendations? if can get 195 width already good enough, wanted to put Mich PS3.. must change rims ?
*
theres silverstone evol8 and also dunlop d01 and of course the uber sucky nct5....choosing between the 3, evol8

if not mistaken theres 1 or 2 more....but cant remember

theres also 165/50/15 tires u can try.. lower profile... Hankook V8RS, Falken Azenis ST115

choosing between all of them...ST115 wub.gif

QUOTE(Kent Goh @ Jan 4 2013, 10:43 AM)
R1R Grip is better then 595RSR, 595 starting lost grip after 50% while R1R last longer about 70%. If 15 x 7jj rims should be 195/50 or 195/55 the best.

This is just my personal review. KU36 never use before.
*
thanks... ive seen quite a number of reviews that say similar...

but ive seen even more reviews that mention rsr is better....some say almost as good as r888... somemore even WTAC lists those tires as semi slicks while ku36 n r1r isnt...

i oso abit confuse as to which is which...even someone whos considered a handling sifoo says the same as u in terms of r1r having better grip...

guess have to try n find out myself eh?

ive pretty much decided to go with rsr 205/50...r1r no have this size.. and will be fitting on 15x7.... main reason for rsr is wet conditions.. coz my baby n wife are usually in the car with me when on the road.

hahahahhaa... alot of ppl said dun trust the threadwear indicator on the ATR Sports.. coz those tire threads lasts so damn long... they advise u to change at 50% thereabouts coz the rubber would have probably harden by then...

how did you came up "quiet ride" for directional tires? if you mentioned F1 AS2 i would agree, but D5? your NVH standards are probably low as hell (i know a few people who claims semi slick tires being quiet so...)
*
not all directional tires r noisy...some r really quiet...like the falken azenis st115...even a website for ICE rexommended those tires for setting up ICE.

Guys need recommendation for new tires. Currently using falken ziex ZE912 225/45/17. Can recommend me tire with overall good dry and wet grip but dont burn a hole in my pocket. My budget is rm400+- per tire. Might as well change my bent rim while at it. Is kedai papan klang good as i heard people say?
*
QUOTE(drfeelgood @ May 19 2013, 03:10 AM)
What about Falken Azenis?
*
the current Azenis (RT series) is sick expensive...... his budget per tire probably isnt even enough to get 15" size...and hes looking for 17"

no no not that 1.
i go for Megalap.
havent prepared, havent get the tires yet.
basicly havent prepared anything. hahaha
*
ur first time in SIC and ur joining a competition? why not go for a normal open track day? much more worth it as ur not limited by the number of laps...so can u go out and hentam all u want and have 2-3 hours to learn more about ur car and adjust accordingly.....and if i were u, id go in with my daily driven setup... just to see how far i can push it in a safe environment... then see wat to do next from there.

like the last track day i joined, i went with a daily setup... full interior etc... then slowly removed interior.. adjust the suspension...etc etc... i also noticed i need better brakes, more camber... better tires and perhaps more grip on the rear, if the tire/camber upgrade doesnt do it for the rear.. ill try more downforce.....i also realized i need a full bucket seat....and also an engine that wont go kapow again HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ May 31 2013, 03:05 AM)
eh bro, from your experience, do you think nitrogen gas for the tires are needed for 2-3 hours at SIC?
*
definitely no....coz ur not gonna be out there for the straight 2-3 hours... and ur gonna be pitting to rest every now n then...n if ur on street tires..even better, coz street tires dont really soak up much heat to expand the gas that much....semi slicks diff story....theres even a fifth gear episode that mentions u should pump in a little more air than usual for track days (which is wat i do)

all the times ive entered SIC ive never even once use nitrogen...instead.. i removed all the warm/hot air from the tire until practically 0 and pump in fresh cool air....last time i used to do it at the petronas right outside SIC before entering the pits....otherwise, its a day or 2 before.

used nitrogen before on my ex-kelisa... with 165/50/15 tires... which means... very low profile.. not much diff than using normal air... tried it a few times and decided to just abandon them.

yes.... everyone mentions otherwise... including tire shops... but i decided to follow the extra on my last track day with T1R...but not by much... daily drive is 32... i filled up 35 biggrin.gif

previously was on Potenza RE711 i never changed tire pressure for daily n track...

my recommendation? perhaps 35 max (fresh COLD air direct from pump) but monitor ur pressure....i wouldnt put too low.. u dun wan the sidewall to be lembik.. n like i said.. street tires dont soak up that much heat to expand the air in the tires so fast....or u can use nitrogen oso... yes i know i said dont need...keyword is NEED. theres nothing wrong with having it though hahahaha

the only time i bring my air pressure down below 30 (usually 25 thereabouts) is when im drag racing.

up to u if u wanna listen to me or to the vets u mentioned... coz personally... i dont really consider myself a vet.. just that ive have had some experience and have made my own conclusions based on my experience and tests biggrin.gif

EDIT: the video i was talking about
