It's okay but i do have one further question, in between this 3 model which one should i choose?

1. Q10 Pro
2. Q5 Pro
3. Q30 - This the only device that comes with latest Android 7.0?

Thanks
*
i do not know q30 much...

all 3 now run on android7 (u need to be sure from seller).
#2, #3 are 2/8gb; #1 is 2/16gb.
#1, #2 use HiSilicon Hi3798C V200; #3 uses V200HiSilicon Hi3798M V200.
#1 has internal HDD slot, not the other.
#1, #2 more popular, more users; q30 is not even officially launched yet.

i would think q30 is a slight washed down version of the q5pro, likely a little cheaper.

if u can afford rm100 more, best to go for q10pro as it is the flagship model.

i know there are quite a no. of fans of icdrama addon in kodi.

if u r one of them, try this rss video player app to set up icdrama and try it.

simple... get app from playstore, set up according to simple instructions:
http://fibreiptv.weebly.com/blog/how-to-ad...ss-video-player

i find this app offers easier navigation, better menu display and more video link options.

e.g. when u choose h265, u get SD and HD options while in kodi, it goes straight to SD.

Need some basic education on media players. Say I have a media player capable of doing 4K, 3D, HDR10...., do I also have to have the TV with similar capabilities to deliver the full viewing experience ?

yes.

for full viewing experience, the whole chain needs to be - source, player, avr (if applicable), tv.

if source and player are but the rest are not, u still get the video but will be limited to what the weakest link is.

same for audio - if source player can do hd audio/ddatmos but avr cannot, u get only core dd/dts.

The HDMI is the best connection link between media player and TV now ? Is there a standard for fibre between TV and media player ? Is there a need for it in the first place ?

if player->tv, hdmi is best.

q10pro comes with an hdmi cable (not sure other brands), good for all that the player is capable of.

if u use an old cheap hdmi cable, there will be issues when playing high grade files.

Yup... What AVFAN says... Basically, you are limited by the weakest device... HDMI offers the best connection and compatibility.. And if you had to ask, you probably don't need HDMI 2.1 tongue.gif

Hi guys,

I just got my Q10 Pro from nicety yesterday and slowly getting used to it. It's my first Android box.

I have one question.
While going thru my 4K clips collection, I have one clip that have TrueHD 7.1 audio. The video playback is smooth, but I have no sound coming out from my TV.

Q10 Pro is connected via HDMI to my Samsung KU6000 TV. Playback settings are mostly auto as suggested by nicety, but I did try different combinations however still not getting audio from this TrueHD 7.1 clip.

Any tips or workarounds are very appreciated. Thanks!

1. This video... When u go audio track switch, what audio tracks are in it, displayed for selection?

2. What results when u play other videos with ddtruehd?

3. What results with ddatmos, dtshdma, dtsx?

Hi all,

I have gone through a couple of pages and here's my concern for someone who can assist on giving me some advise. I currently own a NexBox A5 and seems to be pretty 'decent' so far. I plan to use it as a secondary player for my room and get a good player that supports Dolby / Surround Sound as I have newly gone into the home theatre world and spoilt myself with a 5.1 set up. I also have a 65" 4K TV.

From the reading I have done here, the best would be HiMedia Q10 Pro or the Minix U9-H (please correct me if I am wrong). I love watching movies and would now like to fully utilise my surround set up. I have used KODI before, but I am not sure if I am using it properly as it is pretty complicated and I find it very tedious and difficult to use. I have since started watching my shows on apps like MovieHD etc which is very convenient.

To get a proper surround, I've started downloading 40-50GB BluRay DTS/Master to maximize my experience. Hence the player I get should be able to support these files and play flawlessly.

I do not have any subscription TV at home and have a NetFlix subscription along with my Android Box. Netflix does not support true surround, so I am hoping for some guidance from you guys.

Hope someone can help and give me some advise. I am leaning towards the Q10 Pro due to the HDD slot availability and plan to download my favourite movies in full bluray and transfer them for keeps on the player.

Hope someone can advise me, and perhaps also tell me if I am utilising the player as I should? A lot of folks seem to be ditching subscriptions and watching live TV on KODI etc, is it easy? Seems very complicated to me despite going through many many posts and youtube videos.

Thanks guys.

Sorry not answering your questions but asking a question rather.

Why would you need a media player, wouldn't your samsung KU6000 able to play the file directly ? The media player is supposed to deliver higher quality play back than the media player on the TV ?

1. For this particular one, only TrueHD 7.1 is available.
2,3. I came across DTS 7.1 (DTS if I remember correctly), I could get audio on my TV with auto in the playback setting.

Some files are not playable on the KU6000. Some will stutter. Smaller files are mostly ok, but when it has TrueHD audio, I'll no audio on the TV.
I expect the Q10 Pro would expand the compatibility.
Further more I gonna use the Q10 Pro as a storage device too, so it's neater.

in my experience, audio capability of TV's are usually lacking.

i do not know yr TV but i will not be surprised if it cannot do ddtruehd direct from player like many other TV's.

if the video has other tracks, and that is common, q10pro will auto select and pass thru the one that the TV can do.

e.g. some videos come with multiple audio tracks, truehd7.1, dtshdma 7.1, dd5.1, dts5.1 - the player will select highest one that the tv can deliver.

if the video has only ddtruehd and tv can't handle, u get no audio.

you just have to get another video with lower or multi audio tracks.

if u have q10pro connected to to an AVR that can handle ddtruehd/dtshdma, the AVR will deliver ddtruehd or u can switch to dtshdma.

whether video or audio, we must accept the TV makers do what they do best - picture quality.

they do not invest too much into ability to playback complex files, complex audio - becos that's not their main biz.

if u can help me with these first...

.. your 5.1 set up - is it new or old; is it hometheater set or individual components; AVR hdmi input?; can the AVR do dtshdma/ddtruehd, ddatmos/dtsx?

.. yr 65" inch tv - is it 4k HDR or just 4k?; is netflix available in the tv's smart features or playstore?

.. kodi... how well do u know kodi, have u used it and for how long?

.. HDD slot - do u plan to insert an existing HDD already with files or buy a new one?

Okay understood.

It would appear to me that HDD's performance is one of the limiting factor for higher grade playback. Maybe Q10 get's the boost from it working as a power supply unit for 3.5" HDD.

So, if I understand you right, if the video has only TrueHD 7.1 and my TV can't handle it, Q10 Pro won't be able to downmix the audio to an usable format for the TV?
