Hi guys,

I just got my Q10 Pro from nicety yesterday and slowly getting used to it. It's my first Android box.

I have one question.
While going thru my 4K clips collection, I have one clip that have TrueHD 7.1 audio. The video playback is smooth, but I have no sound coming out from my TV.

Q10 Pro is connected via HDMI to my Samsung KU6000 TV. Playback settings are mostly auto as suggested by nicety, but I did try different combinations however still not getting audio from this TrueHD 7.1 clip.

Any tips or workarounds are very appreciated. Thanks!

1. This video... When u go audio track switch, what audio tracks are in it, displayed for selection?

2. What results when u play other videos with ddtruehd?

3. What results with ddatmos, dtshdma, dtsx?
*
1. For this particular one, only TrueHD 7.1 is available.
2,3. I came across DTS 7.1 (DTS if I remember correctly), I could get audio on my TV with auto in the playback setting.

QUOTE(puchongite @ Aug 8 2017, 12:09 PM)
Sorry not answering your questions but asking a question rather.

Why would you need a media player, wouldn't your samsung KU6000 able to play the file directly ? The media player is supposed to deliver higher quality play back than the media player on the TV ?
*
Some files are not playable on the KU6000. Some will stutter. Smaller files are mostly ok, but when it has TrueHD audio, I'll no audio on the TV.
I expect the Q10 Pro would expand the compatibility.
Further more I gonna use the Q10 Pro as a storage device too, so it's neater.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 8 2017, 03:02 PM)
in my experience, audio capability of TV's are usually lacking.

i do not know yr TV but i will not be surprised if it cannot do ddtruehd direct from player like many other TV's.

if the video has other tracks, and that is common, q10pro will auto select and pass thru the one that the TV can do.

e.g. some videos come with multiple audio tracks, truehd7.1, dtshdma 7.1, dd5.1, dts5.1 - the player will select highest one that the tv can deliver.

if the video has only ddtruehd and tv can't handle, u get no audio.

you just have to get another video with lower or multi audio tracks.

if u have q10pro connected to to an AVR that can handle ddtruehd/dtshdma, the AVR will deliver ddtruehd or u can switch to dtshdma.
whether video or audio, we must accept the TV makers do what they do best - picture quality.

they do not invest too much into ability to playback complex files, complex audio - becos that's not their main biz.
*
So, if I understand you right, if the video has only TrueHD 7.1 and my TV can't handle it, Q10 Pro won't be able to downmix the audio to an usable format for the TV?

i would say yes.

there are many types of rips.

that one u hv is a "lean" one, does not contain the core dd or ac3 5.1, so u get no audio.

there are files labeled ddtruehd7.1 files but hv core ac3 5.1 which yr tv will be able to handle.

best to check the file data description before u get them.

similarly, many dtshdma7.1 tracks hv dts5.1 inside too.

there are dtsx files that provide both dtshdma and dts too.
*
i see. I thought q10 pro would be able to downsample the audio.

Anyway, another topic. Just got my 4TB hdd for the q10 pro. Initialized as GPT and formatted to ntfs via the slave usb connection, but the q10pro wont detect it. How do i make this right?

q10pro can take SATA HDD up to 8TB.

but if >3TB, u need a certain initialization procedure.

u can ask nicety to help u on this.

Hi, do you mean such 4TB HDDs can't be detected by Q10Pro?

I'm planning to get one soon and reading this post worries me.

Thanks
*
Portable external hard drive, like in the pic, will work via USB, no worries.
I having trouble with the internal SATA connection of the Q10 Pro.
Anyway, I will try again later after work, probably I did something wrong initializing the hard disk.

I have buzzing/humming sound comes out from my TV when I pause a movie playing using the media center of Q10pro. I notice this happens with DTS audio track. AC3 is fine.
Is there any ways to avoid the buzz/hum?

i assume u pause it by pressing OK on the remote.
that shouldn't be, if u had set box audio to AUTO.

try setting it to LPCM and RAW instead of auto and see how.

another thing is to try it on another TV, see if there is a diff.
*
Will try as suggested.

Update: Setting HDMI output to LPCM seems to fix he issue. Do I lose anything by setting this to LPCM?

I tried to simulate yr problem just now, connect q10pro to tv direct.
Tried many videos.... dts, dd, dtshdma.
DDtruehd cant do, no audio.
No buzz thingy when paused.
Audio setting is auto.

U should try more dts videos.
Possible that one was a unique or problematic rip.
But if all dts have that, i will suspect it is yr tv.
See if there are certain tv audio settings u can play with.

I am using a sharp 4k tv.
*
I see. Thanks for trying to reproduce the issue.
It would be probably the TV that has less than good audio support.

Now, my next issue, haha. Have this since the beginning.
I'm using the Mele F10 deluxe. Sometimes it seems like the connection is laggy.
After turning off (standby) the Q10 Pro for quite a while and turning it back on, the F10 is not connected to the box. Probably the USB dongle is not being detected by the box?
I tried all USB ports, and they are the same, no connection after the Q10pro being in standby mode for a while.
Re-plugging in the USB dongle would solve the issue, but it is not convenient to do this every time I need to use the box. sweat.gif

It may not matter but...is your Q10pro updated to latest version?
*
Yes, it is the latest version.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 14 2017, 01:09 AM)
Switched on and off 3 times, no problem.
*
Same for me, witching on and off multiple times is okay, as long as off time isn't too long.
For example this morning when I switch on the Q10pro after in standby overnight, the air mouse isn't connected anymore.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 14 2017, 01:09 AM)
Did u pair them according to instruction manual?
*
Yes, I think I did.
Mouse and Back button pressed at the same time near the receiver right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Plus, if after switching the air mouse isn't working, I can't do the pairing process, it's like there is no response from the receiver. Need to unplug and plug back the receiver to the Q10pro.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 14 2017, 01:09 AM)
And... maybe battery weak, need a full charge?
*
I did charge the battery, so pretty sure the battery is not weak.

u can try it on another device, e.g. yr tv or another box, see if the same happens.

*
I did try on my laptop, the cursor is smoother. However I did not try to turn off the laptop and turning it back on.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 14 2017, 10:28 AM)
one small thing... everytime u switch on the device, the cursor is not seen.

u need to press a button on f10, e.g. "back" to activate it.
*
Yup, understand that.
But, if it is "disconnected" like in my case, pressing any button on the F10 except the power won't work. The LED won't light up with button pressed, which makes me think the receiver isn't responding to the remote, or the receiver is not in on state.

Yes indeed.

I read somewhere Q10Pro standby mode isn't working? How do I differentiate standby mode and off mode?

I do not know what this standby mode is! biggrin.gif

Standby... meaning main power on, box is off, red indicator light on?
Or like windows, put to sleep?

Afaik, himedia boxes all dun hv sleep function.
What for? Waste power?!
Boot up time is like 20-25 secs.
Faster than my bluray disc player or hyppbox!
*
So, red indicator light on is standby or off? Haha sweat.gif

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 14 2017, 07:50 PM)
i can think of 2 things u may wanna check on this DTS buzz noise problem which shouldn't happen.

.. yr tv audio settings, toggle surround on-off and see if any diff.

.. if u have hyppbox or some other device(s) connect to TV, disconnect them and see if any diff.
*
Currently on the Q10 pro is connected to my TV. biggrin.gif

red light = off, reboot <25secs.

if only Q10pro connected to TV, and nothing else, can't find another culprit! biggrin.gif
i am curious why yr tv gets that "dts buzz" as i assume it has to be a new TV, 4k.

i have used 3 himedia models on 3 diff TV's, hdmi direct to TV, never had that.
*
Yup, no other culprit. biggrin.gif
I hope when I have my sound bar the audio support will be better.

BTW, update on the F10 issue.
Since yesterday I powered off the Q10pro using the power button APK found here.
Now when I turn on the device, my F10 can communicate to the box.
Hopefully this solves the problem for good.

How do I minimize the black android navigation bar when it comes out unintentionally?
I used the update file on futeko which should remove it, but it still comes out when I scroll up in google chrome using the air mouse. sweat.gif

soundbar... i hv never used any...

what u can do is when updating to next firmware (current 2.0.4), do a full one using restore button method, not using the system upgrade app.

that way, u will be sure to remove any unwanted stuff in there now.

*
Yup, looking forward to the next firmware update.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 15 2017, 11:04 AM)

that "navigation bar"... at the bottom of screen, right?

yes, that can pop up after pressing certain buttons by accident.

i have seen it but very rarely - i just power down and up again to get rid of it.
*
Currently that's what I do, power down and up to get rid of it. This is where the restart button from the power apk comes i handy biggrin.gif

if never updated, it will be orig UI, maybe can't do ddtrueHD, google-youtube probably stopped working, outdated subtitles reader.

that much i remember after 3 or 4 updates for similar model.

the main functions should still be fine.
was consolidating my collection... tested all kinds of files, old and new.

even my 4 yr old q5ii can play videos with ddtruehd or dtshdma - with an AVR.

do u not wanna consider getting a real home theater rather than a sound bar?! biggrin.gif
*
Nah, I wanna keep my setup simple for now, so I bought the MS650 sound bar, by Samsung. blush.gif
No support for TrueHD, but I can live with it for a while, hahaha.

I'm using Q10Pro.
There's OTA option to get update, or you could flash it using USB drive.
I think need to update the firmware manually.

Probably not if everything is done right.
The official FW should be more straightforward.
The custom or beta firmware may need a bit more work.
