good day guys, so i was preparing for US working trip soon and found out about this foreign transaction charges and got myself a bit mindfk biggrin.gif

please enlighten me as MYR - US is pretty bad currently.

i got to know from MBB customer service, my amex/visa admin charges are 2.5 and 2.25% respectively.
then OCBC 1%

but when i read thru the pages here, i noticed that most of the ppl use MBB ? is there something i don't see here?

i just have below card, so if you can help me decide which one to use and which one prepare for emergency only smile.gif thank you!
1. OCBC (Master and Visa)
2. MBB (Visa and Amex)

People use Amex to accumulate Enrich miles points faster which equals to xx% CB in air ticket. Yup. You are reading it right. XX% CB (10-20% CB)

If you are looking at lowest exchange rate, Aeon Watami is the card to go. 0.9%-1%

Keep the Amex for emergency. Use the Visa for regular/daily transaction. Most bank will charge 1% on Visa. For latest Visa rates, go here: Visa Exchange Rates

Enter '1' as bank fee.

Is there any CC's in malaysia that removes the forex fee? Like those USA no foreign tx fee cards, except issued in Malaysia?

Well, Hong Leong Bank has this card named "I'm Card". It says there is no mark-up will be charged when you spend overseas. Not sure what it actually means and so far we don't have any HLB I'm Card holder here.

I see... I guess I'll still need to keep my US cards in this case even if I plan to stay in Malaysia. It's weird that the Malaysian equivalent of the Citi Prestige card doesn't even waive the foreign tx fee like the US version. (just checked, 1% + whatever the cost of conversion is, which is quite vague)

HI, guys! Urgent need help~

I am going to pay a substantial amount ( around RM20K )in British Pound. I m going to pay via international transaction locally but in pounds.

May i know if Aeon Watami offers the best rate? Do i eligible for the 3% cashback? It is unlimited cashback?

After several research, i came to conclusion that though MBB 2 cards premier both infinite and AMEX offers 5* treat point for foreign transaction, however, the conversation rate and the bank rate us kindly of high as i am going to pay in a very huge amount.

Any suggestion? Thank you!!!~

PS : My parents personal income should be higher than min. requirement for any Infinite/Signature cc from any bank. So please provide me with some suggestion on which cc should i use.

Have you even gone to Aeon CC website to find the answer to this?

The cashback is capped.

Hi all, I'm just wondering whether CC offers higher/lower rate as compared to FX counter rates (using cash) for AUS Dollar.

P.S: I know by experience that for Korea, all-in CC rate is cheaper than counter rate in malaysia.

Thanks!

I am holding Maybank2 Cards Premier and often buys stuff online overseas.

So should I use Amex or Visa?

Amex definitely charges higher on fees but it gives 5x points compared to Visa 2x.

Which gaves the best bang for buck?

But seeing the response here, i should consider getting a Public Bank Visa Infinite since it has low fees

For USD transactions, although both VI and Amex give 5x TP but I thought that Amex has higher transaction fee?

If that's the case then using VI is better right?

I have few USD transactions before (quite long time ago), AMEX seen to give better rate than VISA (even after 2.5% vs 1% administration fee). smile.gif

Or you can try both AMEX/Visa at same day, and compare later.
