Sync it to your Google account. From there, go to Gmail -> Contacts and you can do all the bulk stuffs that is needed to be done. I made a booboo too and I solved it this way :-).

I'm not sure if this has been covered here but I seem to have an intermittent issue of the screen on coming on when I press the ON button. The 3 buttons lights up, screen stays blank. If I hold the ON button longer, I can actually see a faint image of the Phone Options menu in the background. If I hold the ON button even longer, just short of the 8 second reboot, the screen would sudden turn on.

This problem will then manifest itself on the phone until I reboot. Anyone have this problem?

If relating android to windows OS, it's like installing windows7 on non-dualcore pc.... slow? blush.gif

Or maybe android OS is different from windows OS ... dun require better hardware. blush.gif

This is my personal assessment about Honeycomb, having used it on my Acer Iconia. I'd say HC is still in its infancy stage and lots need to be done. Other than a revamp UI which looks slicker and slightly bit more user friendly, nothing else impress me. Still love old Froyo anytime.

So guys even the TAB cannot run HC - you will not miss anything. One of the biggest gripe on present HC is market issues - seems to be solved but intermittently access to apps is still limited - dunno why - everyone is blaming Google and Google has acknowledge they are working on it. I guess this is causing all the different results I see every few days.

And HC is said to need dual core chips to work better and have better optimization of apps - so I cannot imagine how the Tab will perform if HC is on it. Having HC on the Tab will probably make you more frustrated. Putting in a turbo charger to an Accord 2.4 will never match a similar spec BMW 523 - theoretically yes but practically the driving experience will be way below expectations

It's not as slow. Trust me, the HTC Hero was slow. :-) The feeling I've got with Spacemoose1's Alpha (or actually SSSerpentine's GSM's Mod of Spacemoose1's port, lol) on the tab is quite snappy. Not bad. But it is a bit cramped though, and with screen rotation being a bit iffy, it's almost entirely landscape, which I hate.

As a rough analogy present honeycomb is just like windows Vista. Lauunch with plenty of grandeur but at end users groan in agony over its bloated software and poor performance. But i believe wait few more months this HC vista will bloom into windows 7. Just have to wait for the improvement as the potential is there. Most important too developers must support this HC OS or we will be using apps underoptimized for it

Honeycomb on single core is probably more like Win7 on single core P4 PC with 512MB RAM, not as smooth as WinXP.

Froyo/Gingerbread on dual core tablet with 1GB RAM (if even possible), is like running Win2K (not as optimized for multicore as Win7) on a new dual core PC with gigs of RAM..

Hi guys,

Got my SGT back in December last year. Found it abit laggy these days, so decided to change the file system to EXT4. These were the steps I did:

1. Root SGT using zroot - done within few seconds
2. Check if bootloader is signed or not - not signed
3. Installed Titanium, made backup and copied to 8GB ext SD card.
4. Charged battery to 100%
5. Plugged in to PC (on Windows Vista, with Samsung USB drivers installed) once and wait until drivers recognized tab.
6. Put SGT into download mode
7. Flashed using Odin (p1000-mck-r3-ext4-cwm). Waited for 5 mins, then unplugged from PC. Reboot tab.
8. SGT started converting to EXT4
9. After like 20mins, menu came up with few option, I selected reboot tab.
10. SGT seems to be hanging on screen showing Samsung & Galaxy Tab (bricked?). Unable to reboot or reset using Power + Volume Up button.
11. Plug in again to PC, then flash again using Odin (p1000-mck-r3-ext4-cwm)
12. Odin says PASS, SGT reboot by itself and seems to be working fine.
13. Restored backup from Titanium, everything working fine, except only need to change timezone back to GMT+8.
14. SGT running fine for a day now w/o any hanging, etc. All apps seem to be working fine, in fact it seems to be faster than before.

Despite the initial bricking(?), you guys think I missed or did anything wrong?

I want to try again to flash to Overcome 2.0.1 Hermes for Gingerbread following thepitbull's guide.

But the network only stay in umobile2g (edge) the most while the same sim card in my iphone do show up umobile3g.

Already had the umobile APN setting saved inside, but still no luck.

I have not root it yet due to unfamiliar rooting process.

below is my spec

baseband version :
P1000ZHJJ1

kernel version :
2.6.32.9
root@sep-53#1

build no :
FROYO.ZHJK1

what should I do to make it run in 3g. please help ...

thank you in advance.

From home Press : Menu > Setting > Wireless & Network > Mobile Network > Network Mode > Select WCDMA Only

I am also using Umobile3G. It works flawless. But I am not sure your Modem version (JJ1) suitable for Umobile3G. I am using JPZ version & JM3 before. Both work flawless....

HTH.

Guy any one come across good phone book management?  cause i accidental import my phone book from another device 3 time. So now most most contact is triple duplicate, original phone book can't do bulk delete
*

also you can bring up the options to display which contact you would like to see.....

IN Contacts, press the menu button (next to home button) and it will pop out Display Option... Choose which ever contact source you wanna display and untick the rest...

JJ1 is the very first early generation modem file. You are probably right - flashing to JPZ or even JMF modem could be better

I'd suggest next time, if you ever wish to do this again, just flash straight to Overcome 1.6. This is a 2-in 1 solution - cahnge kernel based on ext4 and a recovery installation. The methods you listed were for those early users when Overcome rom than was still infancy stage using RFS file system

That is the easiest way. But do not solve the issue at all.
Best is log in gmail from PC. Look into Contacts. From the Contact column, there is a merge contact.
Gmail will look up for Duplicates, Triplecates..whatever that is alike & MERGE it.

This is very HELPFUL to me & the reason why I am in love with Android, the OS, not the ROBOT. laugh.gif

Also my widget picker was gone. Had to manually get it.

Updated via no-wipe. Apart from that, i'm liking it. Gonna run it through the mill as a daily driver.
