I'm not sure if this has been covered here but I seem to have an intermittent issue of the screen on coming on when I press the ON button. The 3 buttons lights up, screen stays blank. If I hold the ON button longer, I can actually see a faint image of the Phone Options menu in the background. If I hold the ON button even longer, just short of the 8 second reboot, the screen would sudden turn on.
This problem will then manifest itself on the phone until I reboot. Anyone have this problem?

I just tried upgrading the firmware to PDA:JPD / PHONE:JPD / CSC:JPD (XME) and the famous error came out. "Insufficient disk's free space (requires at least 3000 MB)". I got more than that in both my notebook and Tab. Sigh.. Samsung.. when are you ever going to fix KIES? Added on June 21, 2011, 4:15 pmQUOTE(dave18 @ Jun 21 2011, 02:43 PM) IsĀ JPD rom gingerbread ? DX version? I don't think so. The current Galaxy S is on JP versions. For them, Gingerbread is PDA:JV6 / PHONE:JV4 / CSC:JV6. So I doubt JPD would be Gingerbread for us. Just guess coz I can't upgrade with the stupid error message. Added: I think the JPD is what kokifung installed, which is 2.2.1 and not Gingerbread. It's just a blended Froyo.. sigh.. still have that stupid error message. This post has been edited by sleepwalker: Jun 21 2011, 04:19 PM

QUOTE(Gamer @ Jun 21 2011, 05:42 PM) I have done the upgrade, but just some improves not much. the phone book still suck, lagging. I finally got it installed. Confirmed that it is Gingerbread 2.3.3. However, it works great on my phone. Fix the lagging issue and apps launch faster.

QUOTE(lunatique @ Jun 22 2011, 12:15 PM) @edan hi, nice to see you here. a guy above said there's gingerbread update. but when i plug to kies it says no upgrade??? That is KIES fault. YOu have to go to Samsung website and download latest version of KIES. Somehow the older version does not know that there is an upgrade. http://www.samsung.com/my/support/detail/s...chword=GT-P1000Select Software and Download the 2.0.1.11053_66_6 version.

QUOTE(edan1979 @ Jun 22 2011, 04:41 PM) ours is GSM... if you bought from samsung authorised it is... if you got branded T-mobile its different story... No, T-mobile is also a GSM carrier. The 2 big carriers with CDMA are Sprint and Verizon. That is why only this year that the users with Verizon got the iPhone as the exclusivity with AT&T has ended and Apple started making CDMA versions of the iPhone.

QUOTE(everydayppl @ Jun 22 2011, 07:07 PM) Downloaded the latest Kies and tried, still no update. What firmware or ROM were you on before you checked? I went back to 2.2 to try... I was on 2.2. Where is your tab from? Mine is a DX version.

QUOTE(whitedragon2010 @ Jun 23 2011, 08:02 AM) Download latest kies. If you got any launcher installed like adw or go please go back to samsung original home launcher. Plug in and it will connect and update to gingerbread. I upgraded my 2.2 to 2.3.3 with ADW launcher installed. The previous insufficient memory issue was due to my notebook not having enough space in the temp folder with I place in a very small partition. Most users should not see that error unless they have no space left in the hdd partition where the temp folder is located.
