QUOTE(benny888 @ Apr 28 2011, 07:43 PM) Welcome, welcome. We definitely will benefit from your input as you are a very experienced Android user You are one of the real experts, bro. SGS is my first Android device but have been learning lots ever since I started lurking about in LYN and XDA forums. BTW, is it just me or does the Tab feel significantly quicker than the SGS (comparing 2.2.1 custom ROM Tab with ext4 lagfix VS. 2.3.3 stock ROM SGS with ext4 lagfix)? |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Apr 30 2011, 04:36 PM) Yes depend one needs. The tab is always with me when I am out. I have no problem carrying it as with the book type casing is still good fit in my pants sidepockets. I carry a little 'manbag' with me when I'm out during the weekends. Used to hold my iPad and other things but found the iDevice a bit too bulky to use in the outdoors. Now the Tab fits so nicely and I find myself doing more with it now than I did before with my iPad. Tweetdeck for checking on FB and Twitter updates, Opera Mobile and Miren browsers for on-the-go surfing and a few games thrown in too for killing time. Mind you I don't use the Tab as a phone but it has a Maxis Broadband SIM and the 3G is very handy for net access (feels faster than on the iPad too). The Tab complements my Galaxy S nicely, my free and paid apps are installed on both. The only downside is the inability to read e-magazines which was already difficult to do on the iPad but now almost impossible to do on the Tab without a lot of zooming and panning. Mags at full screen fit are unreadable I am a bit worried though, I'm getting so used to the portability of the 7" device that I may want to hold on to the Tab even after the new Samsung honeycomb models arrrive (8.9 and 10.1). |

QUOTE(mynewuser @ May 1 2011, 12:18 PM) Err, I download the e-mags in PDF format from forums and file hosting sites, ahem.. Tried viewing them with Aldiko, Adobe Acrobat and even ThinkFree - cannot read la, fonts too small and when zoomed, very troublesome to scroll and pan here and there.Added on May 1, 2011, 3:37 pm QUOTE(myzer0 @ May 1 2011, 12:36 PM) Ebooks in epub format are fine. In fact the Tab is easier to hold and nicer for ebook reading, using Aldiko app compared to Stanza app on the iPad.This post has been edited by kmrdeva: May 1 2011, 03:37 PM |

QUOTE(alcatrez @ May 1 2011, 05:50 PM) Here you go, buddy.. Missus bought this one for me, Alain Delon brand or something. Has got a splitter panel in the bag so Tab goes in 1 side and my wallet and other stuff into the other side. Also has a zippered compartment inside where I keep my phone. Used to hold an iPad now holds something smaller Attached thumbnail(s) |

Tried to buy a spare ori Samsung AC Adaptor and Sync cable pack yesterday at Gurney Plaza Penang. RM229, bloody hell!! Anyone know of shops selling compatible or ori sets cheaper?
P/S RM229 is like 2+ times more than an iPad ori charger and sync cable pack. And I thought only Apple screws their customers.. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ May 1 2011, 07:54 PM) You can use any generic wall charger with usb port. The usb cable will not cost more than rm40. I am using my previous ones which i use it for my htc and are generic types. Thanks for the tip, bro.The shop was offering me just the ori cable for RM129.. I need a wall charger and sync cable with that funny ipad-like 30 pin connector to keep at the office in case I wanna transfer big stuff to the Tab or to charge it. Small files easy la because of FTPServer on the Tab which allows me to FTP files to/from over WIFI and/or 3G. BTW, on stock ROM I noticed that I wasn't able to charge via USB from a computer, but the Overcome ROM enables this feature. Hurray for custom ROMs Going back to Gurney Plaza tonite to scope out other shops ha ha.. |

Thanks for the accessories tips, guys. Got my non-ori AC Charger for RM28 (non-removable cable meaning I can't use the cable for sync) at another shop.

QUOTE(PyOsE @ May 5 2011, 04:25 PM) Regarding the default web browser, Use a browser that supports changing the user-agent string. Not sure if the stock browser allows that, but I see options for this in Miren and Dolphin Mini. I believe Opera Mobile also has this feature via manual change. In the facebook site i already set desktop mode, but everytime i click Home, it goes back to mobile version so i have to set it to desktop again.. any advice on this? |

QUOTE(ameeyn @ May 11 2011, 12:14 PM) benny, I have 2 headsets now, an Aliph Jawbone Icon (superb noise cancellation, not so good battery life) and a Jabra Extreme (ok noise cancellation, good battery life) - both work pretty well with both my Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab. Jawbone was almost RM400, and the Extreme was RM300. May not fit your criteria of 'cheap'.I've installed mobile voip on my tab And would like to use a bluetooth headset to talk. can any of you guys recommend me a bluetooth headset that is cheap and suitable with galaxy tab for voice and voip? |
