is this why so sudden the port shows 2839kbps only
yesterday my modem router shows 3950kbps

anyway i am just upgraded to 4mbps. biggrin.gif

supposed cant get, but the reps make a call to higher level ,

than walla today i get my 4mbps BB Deal!! and new wireless modem and cordless phone is claimable also.

2days ago i made a report to skmm , i tell them why most of my neighbour can get 4mbps but not me, and walla TM KL call me today to say that i will get my 4mbps..

what i did ;

1.) Report SKMM , but u have to confirm that most of your neighbour area got 4mbps BB Deal.
2.) Also begging at TMPoint to ask them to get for 4mbps package as the system just wont allow me (that was why the reps call higher level to approve my upgrade application . okay no money involve here tongue.gif.

biggrin.gif..

just now i experience a low kbps at my port, is it related to what abg MX510's post.
i dont know.

You should make another complain of low attainable speed. As a 4mb user, you should get at least 4096 Downstream

is it a huge upgrade if i'm upgrade from 1MB to 4MB ?
i'm quite happy with my current package but upgrade is a must because the package is too good to reject...

what if i unsatisfied with 4MB, will i get the old connection without any frequent DC ?

ps: I didn't suffer from frequent DC but i'm afraid that will happen if i do the upgrade then downgrade if i'm not satisfied sad.gif

well, it will give u a boost of speed if u upgrade nod.gif...check first and see if ur place support 4mb or not (or if there's any available port still) or if ur place support UNIFI then maybe that would be a better choice smile.gif

1)Your SNR too low to go any further already. Cannot get 4mb.
2)Either also can. You have to pay for the new cabling whichever you choose.

i thought the higher SNR Margin is better while its the other way around for Attn...i think ur line is good enough fro 4mb hmm.gif..am i wrong?? rclxub.gif

SNR = Higher is better, 20 above is good
Attn = Lower is better, 30 below is good

am i wrong? rolleyes.gif

Your interpretation is indeed correct. Look again at his SNR and Attenuation margin.

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 20.0 16.0 db <---- You said higher is better. 20 above is good. This is good?
Line Attenuation 47.0 22.0 db <---- You said lower is better. 30 below is good. This is good?
Data Rate 2048 512 kbps

If your current SNR margin is around 40 then it should be good to go. You get low margin probably because of the nearest port located too far away. Poor telephone line is another factor.

Maybe you should try Unifi?

Normally, the speedtest if you test them locally (on TM server specially), you'll retain close to the speed you signup/upgraded.

If you did speedtest to server that's non-TM (or international servers)... you'll get speed lower than what it is.

So even if your modem says you received the upgraded speed... usually you can ignore it and did a speedtest on TM server to re-verify.

Hi, i just go to TMpoint because i want upgrade to 4 Mbps, but the operator told me that my area don't support 4 Mbps. It's that true? and the distance from my house to the TM cabinet is around 500 meters.

Below is my current line details:

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 32.7.0 27.0 db
Line Attenuation 18.0 5.5 db
Data Rate 2048 512 kbps

Please check your application status here ;

http://sams.tm.net.my/marketingcenter/search.asp

by entering either your streamyx username or phone number.

I think your port already set to 4Mbps but you need to wait until the technician come to your house to do some testing as well as activate your new speed after they confirm and make sure that your line are really capable for 4Mbps... smile.gif

Since today is Saturday, then most of the technician will not work today... You need to wait until Monday...
