its a very common problem all subscribers are facing. We have to live with the fluctuating volume.

Hi, I'm new to this forum.

I have unifi installed in my home recently with the standard hardware and configurations.

Currently the Huawei modem is separated from the d-link router by rooms.

My question is am i able in anyway access the internet using my laptop via ethernet to the Huawei modem? The d-link router isn't providing substantial wireless signal.

I've tried connecting a lan cable but it seems that when i tried connecting to any lan ports, i couldn't access the internet.

Sorry if this question was already solved. Any sifus can help?

..I'm using the white alcatel BTU.  D-Link firmware is 7.09.
...TP-Link WR841ND ver 7.2 IS NOT COMPATIBLE TO THE WHITE ALCATEL BTU...
Not sure about the while Alcatel BTU, so far you are the first one I came across that it doesn't work unsure.gif

Just to re-confirm you need to:

1. Do not connect 841's WAN to BTU first

2. Hard re-set the 841 (NOT reset, make sure you know how to hard reset)

3. Apply the custom firmware

4. Hard re-set 841 again

5. setup 841 as usual, take note:
- the PPPoE user ID & password is entered correctly, it's case sensitive
- enter the 30 seconds WAN online check under WAN-->Advanced

6. Turn off the BTU & the 841, wait for at least 2minm then:
- connect 841's WAN to the BTU
- switch on the BTU first, wait until it's booted up completely
- switch on the 841

It should work.

If still fail, then it might due to:
1. TM's DSLAM at your area started to detect & reject non DIR-615
- this is complicated, something like the previous HG655a, need time & effort to trouble-shoot on-site .... sweat.gif

2. Faulty 841
- bring back to LowYat Plaza 4th Floor TP-Link SC, ask for replacement
- test again as above, if still fail, then it's the DSLAM issue ....

where can check my usage volume?

I use RB750 to monitor, before I reset on 20May, it show:

after reset and up to 25May:

I normally reset counters around month end and start new again for next month.

Milky, ya lor.. what else lo... we can get together and do a bulk buy...

Now the question would be,
1. did someone here did bulk buy before?
2. can he/she assist/offer to assist bulk buy? or anyone here?
3. What item shld / suggest we buy? TPLink? microtik? etc?

Ultimately, we can get cheaper yet right item and quality.

My Unifi has been running fine for the past one month since I got it. However 2 days ago it began randomly disconnecting itself, without being able to reconnect. This is the log

QUOTE
May 26 08:39:58 PPPoE: Sending PADT for session1. (Session ID: 1aaf)
May 26 08:39:57 PPP: Connection terminated.
May 26 08:39:48 PPP: No response to 14 LCP echo requests.

The helpline is far from helpful, of course. Only useful bit they can tell me is that it was seen as "disconnected by user" from their end, which of course I didn't even touch it. It's getting worse now, as it sometimes doesn't even reconnect even when i off the modem and on it back, or it'll just stay connected for one minute and then dc.

Now living in fear as it can d/c anytime...sien. So is it hardware problem, server-side, or device conflict or kena lightning strike (highly unlikely since I'm in a condo) or what?

actually was back earlier, i was encountering this problem...

it has to do with the timeout setting for the pppoe auth sessions...

for me i encountered the disconnection every 8 mins or so...

from what im guessing, tm has "miss" out some configuration settings.. when they upgrade/change something on their end leading to this kind of problem...

unless you have those advance kind of modem/router that let u tweak the wan setting.. then ur out of luck...

so far cross fingers.. the problem never came back.. smile.gif

u can clearly see that ur pppoe session is sending PADT(t = terminate)

why.. cause they didnt receive response to ur LCP request, if you dig a little deeper into pppoe authentication rfp/innerworkings u can see that the problem is on their end...

regarding ur can't even connect after restart, thats due to the ras blocking u for hammering smile.gif

It's already damn cheap for a good home-use router.

Usually the call centre will call 3 days prior to the installation date. So, in your case either tomorrow (27th) or Saturday (28th).

Yea mine was exactly 3 days before installation, it was on a Wednesday to they made a call to me on Sunday to confirm. If you don't receive any calls, better give them a call and find out if the installation is confirmed.

I read thru this forum, and many facing disconnection or hear issue, etc. Looking at it some other router / device is better to solve issues.
I'm not sure, and I wish sifus here can advise.
