Yeah just got my unifi yesterday, but i need to pay extra RM400 to the contractor for installation fees, damn cheat...
*
But the contractor will tell you in advance how much you'll be charged extra right in the first bill? Or are you talking about paying the RM400 straight to the contractor on-the-spot? hmm.gif

I've installed Unifi around 2 weeks ago and its been superb. WoW and Rift has never been appealing while my wife enjoys Glee and the iConcert on its IPTV. So far no problem (touchwood).

However we had to use this device which allows 'broadband' to run through electricity as I the modem, router etc is in our bedroom while the TV is outside.

Just wondering if any of you is currently using this device? Its you plug it to a wall socket and the lan cable from the set-top box is then connected to it.

On another note, do you guys have wall sockets for lan cable? if so, is it hard to do?

cheers

These homeplug devices shouldn't have problems for UniFi speeds as well as streaming HD contents as I myself use it to somehow wire my home for high speed devices. biggrin.gif

So I received a call on Sunday to confirm my installation appointment tomorrow (Wednesday). He said a technician will call me again. So when will the technician/installer call? On the day of the installation? Need to know roughly when to expect their call so won't miss that call. laugh.gif

which location bro? This week installation mostly postponed. Inside TM news, TM facing shortage on BTU/STB. Installation that is effected in this will fall back in the waiting list which is 3-4 months from this week.

This is because of the "ladder" system TM is using for installation process.

Hmm but if it's postponed shouldn't they make a courtesy to inform those affected? hmm.gif

Although my VIP5 seems to have a stable download/upload speed, there's one issue though. I noticed that after a while of torrenting, it seems that I can't surf the web anymore.

Doing a ping to let's say lowyat.net will receive response but it seems that all my web browsers will not be able to surf any websites. It'll just show that the web server is taking too long to respond. sweat.gif

Anyone have similar experience?

DIR615? If it's dir615 and connected through wifi, I guess is the problem OR maybe ur torrent really ate up all the up/downlink. haha
*
Nope, used a MikroTik RB250GS connected to my Buffalo router flashed with DD-WRT. Nope I limit my torrent's speed as well to not utilize the whole connection.

This is the first time it happened. I am able to ping lowyat, but I cant browse anything. My Windows Live Messenger doesnt work either. Im using my 3g to connect now. Anyone experiencing the same issue? If you have the same issue, you wouldnt be able to reply without a different connection. lol
*
Yes very similar problem with mine. The Internet connection is definitely not dead since pinging servers/websites can get a respond. Not sure why the web browser won't be able to load anything.

Then I guess it's a problem related to TM's side.

Those who have similar problem? Does it happen to you all when you guys basically not doing much with your connection? Or does it happen when you guys do heavy downloading etc.?

same here!!
although i most of the time randomly unable to load web pages even though i'm not downloading anything and i'll have to restart the modem to solve it.
but restarting the modem will only solve it for an hour or so, and i'll get the same problem over and over again.

it's really pissing me off  vmad.gif

EDIT: IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS TYPING THIS REPLY.  vmad.gif

Same here, after restart the modem (aka reconnect also can) will solve it for a while to get you back on the Internet. sweat.gif

Another thing is downloads from major file sharing sites (uploadstation, fileserve, filesonic) all gives me about 40kB/s max, I could get better speeds with Streamyx. doh.gif

Regarding my slow speed to file sharing sites earlier, after midnight seems ok already. Wonder if it's some sort of throttling to certain sites during peak hours. hmm.gif

There's probably something wrong on their end. My net has been unstable after 6PM and then after 1am it just keeps timing out for 10-20seconds then back to normal again.

Is your PC connected to the router by WiFi?
These symptoms may be due to interference from neighbouring routers.

Connect by cable to determine if this is the case.
*
Definitely not, connected via cable and not to the crappy D-Link router as well. About 1-2 pages back there are several same reports already.

P/S: I also wouldn't like to share the same WiFi channel with my neighbours so I usually change to a channel that nobody is using.

I noticed one thing when I watch videos from YouTube, when I first load the video my connection will hit my max speed about 4.6-4.8mbps and once it buffers to about 1/4 of the video, it automatically slows down to about 1.5mbps.

Is this some sort of "throttling" by TM? sweat.gif

Had the same issue of being connected but unable to surf earlier. Started from about 1.30pm and lasted for an hour. Restart modem/router so many times, can get connected with an IP but unable to surf. Really frustrated when this happens.
