I managed to get my card cancelled with GST + late fees charges totaled RM60. I guess they've decided to cancel it because I've been making too much of hoo haa for the past 1 month  tongue.gif

Initially they did not want to cancel it and insisted that the investigation is still on-going on whether the CS who has offered me the card did mentioned that I'll need to swipe 3x to get the rm50 rebate when the card was offered to me.

But it has been a month and I've been calling them so many times to ask about the status yet the same old answer they've given me "still pending". I guess in the end they've decided that cancelling it is better than pending for the result.

They did not want to waive the charges when I requested them to just cancel the damn card. I told them I don't care I want it to be waived because it has yet to be activated. I've even send them email cc to Bank Negara.

Thanks. Wasn't a pleasant experience judging from the number of times I've gotten so pissed up on the phone with the CS.

GST will be charge once new credit card has approved.

You probably need to pay for it, why not you just use and offset the GST charge (should be how many swipe to offset it), after that only process to cancel???

what is the card you applies for ??

the GST is waive for the first year.

I apply for platinum Visa. My current credit card has low limit due to my card is tag under HR and need my head of department for approval for higher limit.

that the reason why I apply for other bank credit card, but they gave around the same limit of my current card, what the point then !!

You made a mistake for ignoring the mastercard. Contact SCB and tell them that you only applied for Visa. You can send email too.

They will call and ask you to retain the card.
If you refuse, maybe they give some offer.
If you really want to cancel, then need firm on your stand.
This is based on own experience.

Dear Sifu, I just applied for UOB One card three weeks ago. Guess what, last week I not only receive the UOB One card that I apply, they also provided the UOB Preferred Platinum Master Card which I did not apply at all! Apparently the sales people tick one more after I left the place where I apply the card!
On exactly the day I receive the card, I immediately called UOB to cancel the card, which they did. But now the problem is they do not want to waive the RM50 government tax! Please advise how to do as I did not apply this card at all! I even went to the branch to highlight about this, but the staff just say that they cannot handle credit card cancellation!! (WTF is this)
Since last Wednesday, I have called UOB 4 times (separate day) and until the stage of scolding them. Shocking thing is they claim that I am willing to pay the RM 50 tax despite cancelling the card!
Please, can anyone advise me what are the following steps to be done in case they do not waive the RM50 tax. Note that I have paid the RM50 for the original UOB One Card which I actually applied. Now is only the issue of UOB Preferred Platinum which I do not Apply. Thanks.

Just in case they still do not want to waive it for you, maybe you can swipe it once or thrice (need to check with CS) within a certain period of time after your card approval date and they will credit it back on the 3rd or 4th statement.

When my gf asks to cancel this card the CS said since the GST is credited back you can only cancel it after 1 year. If you want to cancel now you will have to pay back the RM50 GST. rclxub.gif
