Its a must to get the confirmation letter in writing of card cancellation.

I've cancel 2 card more than 6 month already but still didn't get the cancellation letter. The one that stop is their monthly bill.

Its quite difficult to ask the bank the give us a letter when its nothing benifit them.

So, CCRIS is the way... will do. Thanks

You can cancel via SCB Online Banking page... ;-)

SCB has 0.5% rebate is you use the ChoicePoints redemption method.
SCB Business Visa has 0.5% + 0.5% (ChoicePoints Redemption)

I already received called from Standard Chartered after email them through their online platform. However, not yet received the SMS.

However, check on their online banking, the card already gone.

Previously, I also experience this with HSBC card. Applying for SC, but got HSBC. doh.gif
Then, I let it rot without usage.

Near to one year, the give a letter and ask me to use the card, or else the card will be cancel.
After 1 year, they give me another notice to use the card in the time frame of 6 month.
Only after that they cancel the card.

So, basically it need around 2 years for the card to be cancel by itself, and 2 years is too long, afraid someone might wrongly used our card information. So, if don't need it, just cancel it right away.

Hi guys. Need some advice, if the bank refused to waive annual fee, can i cancel the card directly since i do not want to pay the fee too? Am i obliged to settling the annual fee first then they allow the cancelling process?
*
You need to settle the annual fee first before can cancel the card.
I do believe that you get the card by mistake, just its kinda expensive mistake.

Thanks for your feedback.

The thing is I don't have any saving accounts with standard chartered. I think I can't make online payment from other bank to stan chart credit card, or can I?

Anyway, I have decided to cancel the CC since I seldom use it plus I need to pay the yearly government service tax (RM50) or whatsoever.
*
Previously, I cancel stan chart CC by email only.
Just need to wait their call to confirm.
I also paid monthly through maybank2U. Still got stan chart online service, just for checking stuff.

It varies according to bank. I can still access my SCB online portal too even though I have no account anymore.
*
Same goes to me. I can still login to SCB online account although already terminate the CC. My CC info is also not there anymore. So, I had nothing to do with their online account since i don't had any casa or loan or whatever, but still can access it.

Already sent last Thursday, waiting for their call now. Thanks

They will call and ask you to retain the card.
If you refuse, maybe they give some offer.
If you really want to cancel, then need firm on your stand.
This is based on own experience.

can we cancel/terminate those cc even w/o activated it? do we need to call their center or just leaved it in drawer..
*
yes, better to call CS to terminate.
In my younger years, I keep my HSBC card and its only cancel after 1 year. Mind you that this card is not yet activate. Still dangerous thing to do.

If you're not on urgent mode, just wait for your statement.
Let wait till the statement is 0.
There could be a refund or cash back or something.

Most importantly, request a letter from the bank for confirmation of termination.
Then, after 10th or 15th of next month, your CCRIS should clear already

Saying about CCRIS, I never checked mine after cancelling the card  sweat.gif

Makes me worried....

Better had a check.
It's good to know your financial standing in the eyes of bank.
Also, it could prevent unknown credit history.
Should be careful more since we know that all Malaysian data had a breach before

Its just once in a lifetime queue,
Then, next time you can always do it online.
Just wait for a couple of month, then I'm sure there is no more queue

The notice letter didn't mention what or how... It just show " we are appreciated if you could return the card(s) duly in halves..."
Anyway, since nobody encounter this kind of issue so i have to call the PBB credit card centre with "ten million of unwilling" dry.gif
They told me that the cards already cancelled and no need to return it. smile.gif
After ended the call, i regret i didn't ask them why the letter mention the return cards since they say no needed? hmm.gif

They might retain the record for some time even though the card already canceled.
Please ensure that your ccris record are free from those card, then only can had a good relief
