Guys,
Since this is a thread for CC cnacellation, i Hope someone could shed some light over my concern over here. Can we get some rebate/discount if we pay of credit card in full amount from the bank? I am not really sure about this but i have heard that there are some banks which gives you some rebate if you pay a lump sum. Have anyone experience this? I am trying to settle my BSN card but they keep insisting that i need to pay them in full, let say the amount is RM12 433. I am sure they should be able to give me some discount right? If anyone have done this or have any better suggestion on how to approach to get the discount , plz let me knw. I appreciate your help.
*
1) what your question has to do with cc cancellation?
2) if you settle your loan earlier in full, you may save on some interest. but if you settle your cc amount in full, that is what you must. and if you fail to do so, you will be charged with late payment charges as well as interest.

Hi, I just wonder i did read this article http://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/BNM_faq120112.pdf on the 2nd last page, no.15, it's stated that
15. Do I need to settle my outstanding balances immediately, if I choose to cancel my credit
cards with Maybank?

• No. You will be given a 2‐year period to settle your balances. You will also be given the
option of settling the amount under the same repayment plan prior to the card being
cancelled or restructure your card balances.

is this true?did anyone have cancel their CC with maybank without settle your balances immediately?
*
these were the new set of guidelines from bnm on 18/3/11 regarding credit card.
this no.15 faq means that if you were holding many credit cards and were affected by these new rules at that time, you need to terminate your extra credit cards.
let's say you have more than 2 credit cards but is earning less than rm36k, so you can only choose to keep 2 cards and terminate the rest.
so for the extra cards that you need to terminate, you don't have to settle the outstanding balances immediately, as it will be unfair for those who have outstanding balances in many cards.
so they were given a 2-year period (from that time) to settle those balances after cancelling the cards.
this means that by april 2013, you need to have fully settled all outstanding balances of those cards which you have terminated.

and for now, this no.15 faq is no longer applicable as it is only referring to that time when this new rules/guidelines takes effect. icon_rolleyes.gif

Interesting. What is your motive, to apply and cancel on the spot?  hmm.gif
*
let me guess...
1) to prove the cimb instant card issuance service
2) to go for a collection of different credit cards
3) to get the free gifts
4) got cheated by the promoters
5) all of the above

I'm being cheated by the 'CIMB staff' without realizing she is a credit card agent! Went there stated my intention to apply for credit card under RM250 cash back promo, after 2 hours go and collect credit card was told by the customer service only eligible for RM50 cash back as the person who assist me is an agent! How can this happen in their card centre? They allow credit card agents to con their customers in the branch. It is ridiculous! Called their card service hotline, no answer, then cancelled it immediately.
Answer is no. 4.
Even it is not activated will need to pay as well?
*
it's better if you report her as the reason you cancelled the cc.
i think it's not the centre's fault, it's this agent trying to get some easy successful application since the people who comes in by themselves are those who interested to apply the cc, sp the rejection rate for her will be lower as compared if she go around other places asking randomly for people to sign up.
since they gave you the rm50 cash back, you can also use it to strike off the rm50 gst when cancelling.
you have a valid reason to cancel and just insist on it that the agent is unethical to have done this to you.

HI folks,
Can anyone advice how to cancel the extra chargers made by the merchant accidentally even it showed transaction error? I have called the merchant and ask them to cancel the chargers as i already paid cash but it seems to be taking hell lot of time. They need to get their bank to contact my CC bank and revert the money, have anyone else faced this problem and could advice what you did to expedite it? thanks
*
1) yes, it takes time to revert back the money to you
2) at the same time, if you want, you may file a dispute with your cc bank. they will investigate this issue and will eventually push the other side to revert faster

Guys,

If I have yet to activate my CIMB card but there's charges of GST + late charges incurred total up to RM60, can I get it cancelled?

I've been trying to get this card cancelled since beginning of February 2014 because I was misinformed by the CS when the card was offered to me (because I applied for housing loan). He did not informed me that I'll need to swipe 3 times to waive the RM50.

When I received the first statement, then only I noticed and I make a call and apparently they are "investigating" whether my claim are true or not. Till now I've yet to receive any response and it has been a month. I've tried calling 3 times in Feb to find out and the same old answer they have been telling me "still under investigation".

If CIMB deny my cancellation, can this issue be brought up to Bank Negara? I've emailed CIMB in 5th March and cc to Bank Negara too. Yet to get any calls from CIMB.
*
when you being offered a cc, you should know that there's a rm50 gst to be imposed. if the cs did not inform that you need to swipe 3 times to offset the gst, which means you know that the bank is not absorbing the gst and you need to pay the rm50? hmm.gif

I was told that the GST will be absorbed by the bank and he did not mentioned that I'll need to swipe 3 times in order for them to do so.

My  concern now is, can the card be cancelled even the RM50 + late charges has been imposed? The card is yet to be activated.
*
most probably negative for gst. once the cc is approved, gst will be imposed to the bank and bank will transfer the cost to the user. however, retail interest or finance charges or late charges are more possible to be waived by the bank upon request.

GST totally waived. It was like like RM 2 for interest. Even I don't understand what is that for but would just pay and close the account with them
*
maybe the rm2 is for admin fee.

guys, my HLB cc approved in jan15, they charged me GST upon approval.
in feb i ask for cancellation, but they said the RM50 cannot be waived eventhough i have not activated my card yet?

is this true? i really need to clear the GST to cancel card???!!!
*
yes, gst is being charged by gov not bank, so bank couldn't waive it even if you have not activated your card.
