QUOTE(kelvinlzy @ Jul 3 2014, 02:40 PM) Just in case they still do not want to waive it for you, maybe you can swipe it once or thrice (need to check with CS) within a certain period of time after your card approval date and they will credit it back on the 3rd or 4th statement. I am against this idea. It will only encourage these unethical agents to do the same thing to others. The bank needs to apologize and take action on the agent. QUOTE(tslim2531 @ Jul 3 2014, 06:56 AM) Alexwsk, will do. Thanks a lot! In future, please be careful and cross out the cards that you do not want in the form. When my gf asks to cancel this card the CS said since the GST is credited back you can only cancel it after 1 year. If you want to cancel now you will have to pay back the RM50 GST. My GST is coming up this September. Havent reach yet. Btw, they can reject cancelation? Since, we also not using it anymore...Collect dust...

The bank needs to apologize and take action on the agent. Of course the most righteous thing to do is to complain to the bank and cc Bank Negara. It is just that I have a friend who was also conned by an agent so he requested to cancel the card and did not pay the fees. Later on his CCRIS was affected and so was his loan application. Only then he found out that the bank did not waive the fee and charge the late payment and interests as well. After complaining to BN, it took quite some time for his report to be cleared. Furthermore you need to retain the CC for at least 6 months so that the agent will get his commission. I am just saying that it can be the last resort in case everything didn't work out.

Your friend was partly at fault for ignoring the fee and did not follow up on the cancellation. That is why he faced such problems. When he reported to BNM, it was already late. The agent already con your friend and he still care to wait 6 months for the agent to get his commission? Many people have reported that they are being conned by these agent because of this so called last resort. It is time to teach them lessons. What I meant was since the agent needs to wait 6 months or so to get his commission, once the GST has been credited back on the 3rd or 4th statement we can directly cancel the card, that should also teach the agent a lesson.

Hello guys, I signed up for this travel money Credit Card 2 days before, but I changed my mind, and don't want the card, because of the annual fee is too high for me. Can I just call up RHB to cancel it? Or do I have to wait for a few month before I can do so?, do credit cards comes with contract period?

Most of the bank will offer first year AF waiver for their credit card service, you may check with it, therefore, you can use until next year before anniversary or keep for just in case. Or perhaps you can ask for cancellation if the staff call you for verification, not sure this is work or not.

I did not use my Hong Leong Bank Wise card for past year. And I'm asked to pay the Annual Fee before cancellation. Is that right? As I understood from previous banks, I don't have to pay the fee if there is no transaction in current financial year.

I'll be assuming they charged the AF to your credit card less than 20 days and you requested for cancellation. In this case, you can negotiate with the bank as the annual fee is pertaining to the next anniversary of your card. It can be done for AF, but no sorry for GST as usually these 2 come together.

If I cancel my CIMB credit card today, how long does it take for CIMB Card Centre to send the written termination letter to me via mail?
Thanks for the info.
