Is it that difficult to get your card cancel? I've just applied for a supplementary card, got it, and cancel it through the phone.

Guys,
If I have yet to activate my CIMB card but there's charges of GST + late charges incurred total up to RM60, can I get it cancelled? I've been trying to get this card cancelled since beginning of February 2014 because I was misinformed by the CS when the card was offered to me (because I applied for housing loan). He did not informed me that I'll need to swipe 3 times to waive the RM50. When I received the first statement, then only I noticed and I make a call and apparently they are "investigating" whether my claim are true or not. Till now I've yet to receive any response and it has been a month. I've tried calling 3 times in Feb to find out and the same old answer they have been telling me "still under investigation". If CIMB deny my cancellation, can this issue be brought up to Bank Negara? I've emailed CIMB in 5th March and cc to Bank Negara too. Yet to get any calls from CIMB. |

QUOTE(victorywp @ Mar 10 2014, 10:06 AM) when you being offered a cc, you should know that there's a rm50 gst to be imposed. if the cs did not inform that you need to swipe 3 times to offset the gst, which means you know that the bank is not absorbing the gst and you need to pay the rm50? I was told that the GST will be absorbed by the bank and he did not mentioned that I'll need to swipe 3 times in order for them to do so. My concern now is, can the card be cancelled even the RM50 + late charges has been imposed? The card is yet to be activated. This post has been edited by LoveMeNot: Mar 10 2014, 10:24 AM |

QUOTE(victorywp @ Mar 10 2014, 10:32 AM) most probably negative for gst. once the cc is approved, gst will be imposed to the bank and bank will transfer the cost to the user. however, retail interest or finance charges or late charges are more possible to be waived by the bank upon request. I managed to get my card cancelled with GST + late fees charges totaled RM60. I guess they've decided to cancel it because I've been making too much of hoo haa for the past 1 month |

QUOTE(DarReNz @ Mar 13 2014, 07:38 PM) Initially they did not want to cancel it and insisted that the investigation is still on-going on whether the CS who has offered me the card did mentioned that I'll need to swipe 3x to get the rm50 rebate when the card was offered to me. But it has been a month and I've been calling them so many times to ask about the status yet the same old answer they've given me "still pending". I guess in the end they've decided that cancelling it is better than pending for the result. They did not want to waive the charges when I requested them to just cancel the damn card. I told them I don't care I want it to be waived because it has yet to be activated. I've even send them email cc to Bank Negara. QUOTE(victorywp @ Mar 13 2014, 07:43 PM) Thanks. Wasn't a pleasant experience judging from the number of times I've gotten so pissed up on the phone with the CS. QUOTE(Human Nature @ Mar 13 2014, 07:53 PM) No. Everything is waived. |
