The word 'better' is very subjective, like asking if KFC is better than McDonalds since they are both fast food. Being specific helps us answer your questions better. What do you need in phone, speed? out of the box features? Good camera? Basic stuff really.

Desire HD: Same proc as Incredible S, Worse battery life and build quality, camera not as good as Incredible S.
Incredible S: Same proc as Desire HD, S-LCD screen, Better battery life and build quality, camera is the best of the 3, has front camera, but has a locked bootloader(or so i heard)
SGS: Best GPU to date, S-AMOLED screen, has front camera, plenty of roms, but has gps and lag issues. Can be fixed though.

Pardon me but, except front-facing camera part, how Incredible S's camera is better than other two?

Both the camera's are the same. Price wise, the desire HD is more expensive atm because the IS is not released yet. AP sets are almost the same price. The only difference is the front-facing camera and the battery.

But the Desire HD life can last a long way if you calibrate the battery or flash a custom rom, something the IS can't do atm due to its locked bootloader. To me, the bootloader is important, I'm leaning more to the DHD side. Plus how can the build quality be worse? DHD is aluminium body..

hmm..how long the Desire HD battery can last?i thinking buy Desire HD..RM1.4k, is it worth it?

Worth it.. and the battery depends on usage. Heard that the people in this forums can run the battery for 40 hours on moderate usage. Heavy users can use it for a whole day. They have the secret formula to make it run that long...

iPhone if you're more to games, don't mind paying for games, don't like much customization or have no means to be unique.

Android if you like customization and being unique since there are tons of customization. Making it nearly impossible to have two same phones... We have games and all the iPhone games are being ported already.

IS have 4inch screen, so I prefer DHD that provides 4.3inch.
But do IS have the chance to do bootloader in the future? Any experts on this can answer this?
Also the front facing cam, since they don't support 3G calls, so it doesn't make any difference isit?

Nexus S has Vanilla and an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER. Better GPU,S-AMOLED, better battery life, but a higher price. Also has inferior build quality. Dev phone so all OS updates goes to Nexus S 1st.
Incredible S has better build quality, Camera, and also the HTC branding. . Locked bootloader though.

Don't have to. Once the AP sets start distributing, within 2-3 months it'll be around 2.3k or so. Then, after 5-6 months, 2k or so.

You mean your RM700 budget is directly from you x6? I thought you meant that you have RM700 and an x6 to trade in. If so, get the Samsung Galaxy 5 and flash it to Motafoca 2.0.9. I'm using it and its quite good. Very satisfying battery life.

Guys, getting really really confused right now between the Samsung Galaxy Ace and the Sony Ericsson Xperia x10.

Just found out that the x10 is getting the Gingerbread update after all, and that is a VERY big news. Further more, the price difference of the SGA and an AP set of the x10 is only around 100 ringgit.

So guys, opinions? :/

Though I'm very curious with the locked bootloader of the x10..

1st option: defy is a good phone, esp if you always drop your phone often. Other choices are HTC Desire AP, Samsung Vibrant or Captivate, HTC Desire Z

2nd Option: Galaxy Ace or X10 AP maybe?

Either DHD or wait for the Incredible S. Incredible S has a brighter screen, front camera and better battery, with a locked bootloader. DHD has bigger screen, no front camera and smaller battery. But you can calibrate to last 40 hours on moderate usage. The users here have the magic ingredient


Get the X10 if you don't wanna modify your phone a lot. Or without, Galaxy Ace is the way to go...

1st: Get the Incredible S at RM1800. Higher ram and better build quality.
2nd: Acer Liquid Metal. Flash compatible, 3.6" screen size and android 2.2 at RM 1100

Incredible S. 1.8k, 2nd highest available ram period, latest android coming q2. 4.3" screen. Same as DHD but better battery life.

x10 DOES NOT HAVE A LOCKED BOOTLOADER. THERE ARE CUSTOM ROMS FOR IT. If you don't mind the idea of not getting any future updates, get the Acer Liquid Metal. Has superior build quality compared to the x10, more ram, smaller more vibrant screen, but a suckier camera.

LG Optimus One has been confirmed to get gingerbread directly from LG.
Ace would most probably get Gingerbread then nothing else. But both of them do not support flash but Ace has a better processor(Overclocked MSM7227)

Samsung Galaxy II: Average battery life, best screen, dual core but IMO the build quality is also average
HTC Desire S: Supposedly good battery life, Single core Q8255, Average 3.6" S-LCD screen, GPS is good and build quality is above average
Incredible S: Below average battery life, Single core Q8255, 4.3" S-LCD, speed should be slower than the Desire S or the SGS2 from rendering a bigger screen. Build quality above average
Nexus S: Vanilla, should have best battery life compared to all these phones, single core Hummingbird, SGS GPU, S-AMOLED screen, Build quality average.

IMO wait for Desire S or get the SGS2

SGS 2 for Dual core and better camera
Desire S for single core and better build quality.

I want to clarify few mistakes you made, since first post.

Incredible S DOES NOT have a better camera than Desire HD. Both are the same with 8 MP camera, dual LED flash. Except the fact that, Incredible S have Front-camera (1.3MP) which DHD have nothing.

Incredible S is using S-LCD (Desire HD is LCD only). But Incredible S DOES NOT have 4.3". Its only 4.0", whereby DHD is 4.3".

As for the build quality, I will not agree with you, but I won't argue with it, as different people have different opinion. Some may think IS's build is better, some for DHD. Both have pros and cons.. Surely some will prefer aluminum casing over plastic casing, and vice versa.

It does have a locked bootloader. Works are being done to crack it. ROMS can be flashed, but I think the kernel can't be flashed.

The camera is better. Engadget reviewed the IS and said that it was. So did a few other reviews. I went to GSMArena and compared the photos. The Desire HD had a granier picture and was more vibrant and fake while the IS had a more smooth, cool picture and realistic colours.

x10 does indeed hav a locked bootloader at the moment

Its cuz 1 screen is LCD and another is S-LCD.. S-LCD screen is so much nicer than an LCD, and therefore the picture when viewed through it is much nicer. But 8MP will be the same...

Lol the GSMarena pictures were viewed from my LCD screen.

One has a front facing camera thats all. And get the IS if you want out of the box goodness for now. If you want customisation, go for DHD. Bootloader for IS is locked

Man.. the price 2k for original 1.7k for AP

DHD has a slightly larger screen. Thats the only difference besides the battery capacity.
IS has a better but slightly smaller screen, better camera, has front camera, and a larger battery capacity. Only downside is the battery cover looks weird with all the curves.

Not forgetting the hope for DHD.. if you dare to flash custom rom and root etc.. you can run your phone for easily 40 hours on moderate usage..

i have htc wildfire and desire in my mind rite now but if i'm not mistaken, can't get the desire with that range of price....

Top up around 300 and you can... an AP set desire... if you don't mind, a Samsung Galaxy Ace will suffice..

looks like have to save my money for couple of month to get my hand on that desire or else just go for the wildfire... galaxy ace...? need to do some search on other brand as i can't keep my eyes of htc's phone...

Its not worth it now to keep your eyes on the HTC phone esp at that budget.. samsung and LG has better low-mid range phones

i would say juz go with Galaxy Ace... unless u re desperate for Flash...

Acer Liquid Metal. Definitely worth its price. Aluminium battery casing with Vanilla Froyo and Desire Z proc. Only downside is the sub par camera. RM1160 for ori set.

juz wondering... how does MSM7227 Turbo (Galaxy Ace) stack against MSM7230 (Liquid Metal)? both are 800MHz to start with, besides Flash support...

To begin with, the biggest difference i see in the the 7227-1 and the 7230 is the GPU. 205 vs 200. If i'm not mistaken the 205 has twice the processing power of the 200. And also, the fact that the 7227-1 is factory overclocked makes the stock 800mhz better. At least there are less risks. And overclocked units make the processor a tad bit warmer.

I don't have an X10, but I'll try to list some of the pros and cons.
The AP set costs around 1k to 1.1k, while the original set is about 1.3k (but I could be wrong).

Pros:
480 x 854 pixels screen (a bargain for a phone at this price range)
4 inches screen
1 GHz Scorpion processor
Awesome camera
HD video recording
Pretty okay internal memory size of 1 GB storage (but I heard there's only about 400mb free for the user)
Promised upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread (!!!)

Cons:
65k colours screen (not too sure if the colour limitation is noticeable to the average person)
Doesn't have the best multi touch on the market ("dual touch" to be specific, suffers from the axis inversion issue)
Locked bootloader (limitation on development by developers)

Don't take my word for it though, got all these information from all over the net.

depends on if u want to mod ur phone... Moto is generally not mod friendly, and Desire Z will receive Gingerbread upgrade from HTC...

Incredible S has one of the best HTC cameras. And also a front cam.
