QUOTE(Music Mania @ Mar 30 2011, 04:05 AM) I don't have an X10, but I'll try to list some of the pros and cons. juz an add on... The AP set costs around 1k to 1.1k, while the original set is about 1.3k (but I could be wrong). Pros: 480 x 854 pixels screen (a bargain for a phone at this price range) 4 inches screen 1 GHz Scorpion processor Awesome camera HD video recording Pretty okay internal memory size of 1 GB storage (but I heard there's only about 400mb free for the user) Promised upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread (!!!) cheapest Snapdragon phone in the market Cons: 65k colours screen (not too sure if the colour limitation is noticeable to the average person) Doesn't have the best multi touch on the market ("dual touch" to be specific, suffers from the axis inversion issue) Locked bootloader (limitation on development by developers) Don't take my word for it though, got all these information from all over the net. the Gbread news juz made it become a good deal again... |

QUOTE(vpam5221 @ Mar 30 2011, 06:00 PM) depends on if u want to mod ur phone... Moto is generally not mod friendly, and Desire Z will receive Gingerbread upgrade from HTC...but Milestone 2 is lighter, has Gorilla glass, 1GHz CPU and 8GB ROM... |

QUOTE(richrich @ Mar 31 2011, 10:37 AM) 1. Brand. (ANY) Samsung Galaxy Ace, SE Xperia X10 (need to wait for the upgrade though)...2. Budget. (800-1.2K) 3. Specs. (FAST) 4. What you need in the phone (MULTI-TOUCH, GPS) Added on March 31, 2011, 10:50 am QUOTE(xliquidx @ Mar 30 2011, 11:10 PM) really glad i found this thread. was kept my eyes on htc for quite sometimes till i noticed that there r lot more of android phones to choose from. Galaxy Aceas for a quickie question, which 1 is better than these 2, galaxy ace vs acer liquid metal in overall (price, performance, battery life, bootloader etc), and what makes it better than the other 1? thanks alot!! Pro: Large monitor (for the class) possible Gingerbread update from Samsung Con: No Flash Liquid Metal Pro: Snapdragon CPU (=Flash) pretty nice build higher resolution (though monitor size is around the same) Con: Practically zero support in XDA forum (this can be a real deal breaker, even though hardware is good) another choice would be SE Xperia X10, and wait for Gingerbread update, or Motorola Defy... QUOTE(xliquidx @ Apr 1 2011, 01:14 AM) hey man, thanks for the pros & cons suggestion. Xperia X10 seems to be a good deal too since SE has confirmed the upgrade of gingerbread later this year [news]. errmm arghh that makes me even harder to choose from 1 to another hahaha. in term of design, i kinda like Acer Metal and Xperia more compare to Galaxy Ace or Motorola Defy. trying not to be typical, acer might be the choice, but as u mentioned zero support in XDA is really a let down factor. that might left me with Xperia. depends on if u re in a rush...do u think which 1 is wiser, i: get it (Xperia X10) now, and upgrade it to gingerbread once its released, or ii: wait for the gingerbread pre-installed version? thanks to u sifoo last i head Xperia Arc will be available in MY in May... QUOTE(craw @ Apr 1 2011, 01:18 AM) well, it's a Galaxy S... |

abt the lagness... it's all du to the custom UI that the makers put in (HTC Sense, Motoblur, Samsung TouchWiz, SE Rachel, etc)... easy way out is to root the phone and flash a custom ROM which improves performance (most of them do), and better yet, flash to vanilla Android (ie no custom UI) for pure Android experience...
computers will recognize the SD card in the phone as a removable storage... Firefox's problem is common... switch to another browser, like Dolphin HD, though imho the stock browser is already good enuf... there is Skype for Android... https://market.android.com/details?id=com.s...e=search_result probably juz not available in MY... what kind of apps are u looking for in Android? the web Android Market is a good place to start looking: https://market.android.com/ |

SGS uses Samsung Hummingbird 1GHz CPU, while X10 use Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1GHz CPU, and IS uses Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 1GHz CPU...
in normal usage u re not going to notice much difference... however SGS' advantage would be the SAMOLED monitor, and the PowerVR GPU, which is generally more superior than Qualcomm's Adreano GPU in X10 and IS... however SGS do not ve LED flash... X10's main (and probably only) advantage is the camera, which is one of the best u can get for an Android phone... however it's currently stuck in Android 2.1 (SE promises an upgrade to 2.3 in late Q2/early Q3), 65K colour monitor (Software limit), TFT monitor, and medicore multitouch performance... IS is HTC's latest flagship device which has pretty good camera and comes with SLCD (not as expensive, and also not as good, as SAMOLED, but generally better than TFT)... biggest drawback is probably HTCSense.com, which many users report that it's broken... QUOTE(Chyan @ Apr 3 2011, 07:05 PM) I is damned. Asked so many times, yet none is suitable. afaik AP sets are rm1.65k - rm1.7k...I bumped up my budget to RM1.5K Can I get HTC Incredible S for this price? If not, go hell with it. I'll just wait for new gingerbread phones. besides, the first wave of GBread phones are all flagship devices... else would be the previous flagship models like X10 and Desire which are receiving GBread updates in the coming 1-2mths... Added on April 3, 2011, 7:08 pm QUOTE(Carlo J @ Apr 3 2011, 05:06 PM) But I heard Xperia doesn't have multitouch.. LG Optimus One, will look into it.. No Msia brand phone btw.. Thanks honestly, i think no multitouch on X8 is not really a big deal... my mum is using and she never complains abt that...but no GBread update? that's a deal breaker... QUOTE(Coldf3ar @ Apr 4 2011, 03:00 PM) then stay away from Moto... their devices have been locked down pretty tightly...HTC is usually the choice when u want to "abuse" to the max... QUOTE(Carlo J @ Apr 4 2011, 09:21 PM) Galaxy Ace would be my choice...Added on April 4, 2011, 9:57 pm QUOTE(Borsch Soup @ Apr 4 2011, 08:48 PM) main problem is, Acer dun seem too interested with keeping it's Android devices up to date...so it'a basically "here-u-go-no-update-in-the-future" device, and that sucks... QUOTE(Carlo J @ Apr 4 2011, 10:00 PM) larger monitor (3.5" instead of 3.2"), faster CPU (800MHz instead of 600MHz), capacitative buttons (subjective, feels cooler?), better camera (5MP with flash instead of 3.2MP no flash)however, i think SE Xperia X10 is at a similar price.... Added on April 5, 2011, 12:04 am QUOTE(LiMcZ @ Apr 4 2011, 11:18 PM) I like big screen hp,most of the time I will use it to suft internet so I prefer big screen 3.5" is already considered pretty big for a smartphone...I now using iPod touch but the 3.5" screen sometime make my eye so paintful to focus for long time right now I considering Dell streak with 5" screen,I think the experience must be different. Will consider tablet if the price are ok n with good function so overall my criteria will be: big screen sufting net,fb,YouTube ,lot of google phone function(atleast if tablet ,it won't be weird to use as phone or myb with headset) any idea sifu here, thk u very much 1 problem with large monitor is that it will blow up the size of the phone, making 1-hand operation difficult... also, larger monitor = more power consumed = less battery life... calling with tablets mean that u can only use the speaker, unless u use earphone with mic or BT headsets... anyway, if u insist... HTC Desire HD (4.3"), SE Xperia Arc (4.2"), HTC Incredible S (4"), Samsung Galaxy S (4"). SE Xperia X10 (4") This post has been edited by astria: Apr 5 2011, 12:04 AM |

QUOTE(mrvenkon @ Apr 5 2011, 01:28 AM) hi guys:) Galaxy S already ve some beta Gingerbread ROM floating around the Internet...Other than Xperia x10 that had been comfirm upgrading at 2.3 gingerbread ..Galaxy S HTC all sense stops at 2.2 only?.. thanks Desire, so far wat i heard is that 3 UK will release it in late April/early May, while Telstra AU said early June... Added on April 5, 2011, 11:02 am QUOTE(shlimsk @ Apr 5 2011, 08:49 AM) in that case, is the software/hardware support from Acer is at par with HTC or Samsung? so far Acer dun seem interested with keeping it's phones up to date... they ve already released so many Liquid phones and yet not even rumours were heard regarding ROM upgrade...for rm1100, will it suggest to consider samsung ace & price shld be around rm950. TQ at such budget u may wanna consider SE Xperia X10 as well... it will receive Gingerbread in approx. 2mths time Added on April 5, 2011, 11:07 am QUOTE(moonsault @ Apr 5 2011, 04:49 AM) depends on how often u change ur phone...1yr, juz grab Incredible S... sure it's single core, but it's already more than sufficient... more than that Optimus 2X...
