Go to Network and Sharing center and make sure the settings are like this. Now restart both Vista and XP and XP can detect without any problem

theres no such thing as 86 bit in computing doh.gif
you should spend some time in reading these

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86-64
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_architecture

x86 and x86-64 are the currently most popular processor architecture, even apple is now using it, the x86-64 simply means that its in 64 bit mode, and it can access memory beyond 4GB

why the mp3 always will be choked for 1-2 seconds whenever I open an application, or running certain task that requires CPU and HDD works in Vista? I am using WMP11 to play...

other players have no problem though

I am sure its not because of insufficient RAM, I have 2 GB, and 15 GB left in C drive, or is it my processor isnt powerful enough?

The desktop is my house is using Xp ahem version and my laptop is also XP. It's very important that she gets to access the share files in my desktop. So erm will it have any problems since my desktop is using the ahem version of XP

U can share ur network with Vista with XP too. But there is known issue that some doesn't know how to configure the setting correctly. If u wan to be on the safe side, go for Xp. But if u wan to be on the WOW side, go Vista.

I can't use my Thumb drive for Ready Boost. I got an error message that the thumb drive's performance is not enough for Ready Boost.

I did some reading online, and found out that I need a thumb drive with at least 2.5MB/s read & write. I benchmarked my thumb drive using HD Tach, and found that it's average speed 7.3MB/s and burst speed is 7.7MB/s is which is above the minimum read / write requirement.

It's a 1GB Pen Drive thumb drive with around 902MB free space.

How can I enable ReadyBoost?

edit:

I may know why. My thumb drive is in FAT format. I just read that ReadyBoost need FAT32 / NTFS formated drive. doh.gif

My question is, do you install any antivirus? I think many of us here have AV installed, and thus should be brontok free, no matter if it can infect vista or not.

Mine's quicker than Windows XP for startup and shut down.

My spec for your reference.
