QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Dec 15 2006, 10:59 AM) MEh, I really need to get Mod fix up the 1st post Good info!! Some info that lazy ppl tend not to read in the prior post - YOU DON'T ASK FOR LINK IN HERE!!!! - Starting with RC2, you need 1GB of RAM for Aero to start taking effect - You CAN install Vista on at least a PIII Machine. It has been done - The slowness of teh system is not the OS's fault. It's because ppl are too lazy to turn off the effect and such - Flip 3D and Aero effects does not consume more resources and energy. It uses even less than the 3rd party software that can create the same effect on XP machine. This is due to DWM (Desktop Windows Manager) that renders these effect in the background instead of rendering it on the spot - The navigation system are designed after years of research on how ppl uses the PC and feedback by the beta testers (which many you can find here in this thread). If you don't like it, don't use it. - THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A VISTA CERTIFIED MOTHERBOARD!!!! - The full release is at the end of January. DON'T ASK ANYMORE!!!! |

Hey i just check at Advisory Vista Upgrade at Microsoft.com and found out that my notebook only capapble of running Vista Business. As i wan at least home premium or Ultimate, so i check what i failed on that test. Supprisily, it's not of RAM as i have 1GB Ram, Core 2 Duo and a decent GMA, i notice that the thing i failed is DVD-RW??? What the? Why do i need DVDRW? I only have Combo drive.
Action Required After installing Windows Vista, we recommend you get a DVD-RW drive Explanation You need an internal or external DVD-RW drive to record DVDs. |

Yup, i search hi and low and there is no control of Aero setting or flip 3D at all. Btw, while i was in low yat yesterday i tried one of the Home Basic machine. There is two setting. One is Vista Basic and another one when apply is Vista Standard. After changing to Vista Standard, they is more effect like the colour glow when moving ur mouse over the close/minimise button.
Then i tried to change back to Vista Basic but i couldn;t find it. I forgot where i change this setting. Anyone can enlighten me? Btw, how bout Vista Enterprise version? Is it same like Vista Business? I know it only for big corporate company but i somehow got to hold a cds of Vista Enterprise.. |

QUOTE(Joey-kun @ Mar 5 2007, 08:56 AM) until next year when ram prices drops again, I'm sticking with XP. Is it? Did the price decrease each month? How much is all those edition of vista cost when it first launch last month?also, prices of win ultimate are ebbing away slowly. they seem to be getting less and less by rm10 or so every month |
