installed Adobe Creative Suite CS2 on my hp dv6000 series notebook (with Vista Home Premium)...
illustrator: works well photoshop: works well golive: vista automatically turns to 'home basic edition' - not 100% supported, but still can work on. indesign: works well overall, Vista improve the performance of these mentioned software. i have 1gb ram installed in my notebook. memory only at 60% when i worked using illustrator & photoshop. the speed is excellent... |

QUOTE(toughnut @ Feb 8 2007, 12:58 PM) thanks. Looks like just released on 5th Feb. I checked their website day before yesterday also tadak.Hopefully, it's not a quickly hammered driver to avoid the wrath of the users and plagued with problems. Will download and install tonight. Added on February 8, 2007, 3:15 pm QUOTE(apisgogo @ Feb 8 2007, 02:40 PM) installed Adobe Creative Suite CS2 on my hp dv6000 series notebook (with Vista Home Premium)... Finally, more feedback from user with real application performance. As i said many times before, 1GB is just fine for Vista. Even 768MB also ok as long as ur not hardcore gamer or multiple-windows addict.illustrator: works well photoshop: works well golive: vista automatically turns to 'home basic edition' - not 100% supported, but still can work on. indesign: works well overall, Vista improve the performance of these mentioned software. i have 1gb ram installed in my notebook. memory only at 60% when i worked using illustrator & photoshop. the speed is excellent... IMO, the hardware requirement for VISTA is even lower then from the transition from 98SE=>XP. This post has been edited by Matrix: Feb 8 2007, 03:15 PM |

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Feb 8 2007, 09:28 AM) WTF? that's utter bullshit. I've been using Vista since Beta I and I never had it delete any of my MP3's, and I even use WMP11 as my default media player. And one thing I hate about In-Tech is that their articles are usually taken from LAT/WP, which supports Open Source more than they do on Microsoft, thus all their articles are always biased. If you ever compare any article they did with article done in house (ie: by InTech own reporters), they differs in opinion. Thanks for sharing the experience!! QUOTE(Matrix @ Feb 8 2007, 11:51 AM) btw, all those crap about Vista deleting files are nonsense. All my ripped MP3 (from my originals CDs) are still there safe and sound. Thanks for second that. Look the replies that i received from Microsoft newsgroup: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsg...a8-daab0ac40ffa Michael Styles 2/7/2007 1:16 PM PST Don't believe everything you hear. ----------------------------------------------------- Lloyd Sheen 2/7/2007 2:46 PM PST Ian, As someone who can discuss this first person, the answer is simple. Yes it can delete files. I tried to install Ultimate over XP Pro. It would not. Phone MS support and was told to clean install. I moved all important files to another partition and then proceeded with the install. (partition on seperate HD). Ok install is over and I notice that C: and D: have exactly the same amount of free space. Since C should have only Vista install and D has ITunes , and many other data files that seemed strange. Ok now to listen to some music while I get the install into shape. My first WOW. WOW my music is gone. ..... Oh some of my files are gone. .... It is true. Wish it wasn't but it creamed about 100 Gigs of files. Lloyd Sheen --------------------------------------------------------------------- Huh, music is gone?? --------------------------------------------------------------- Scott 2/7/2007 4:00 PM PST Yet another reason to always do backups before doing something major like an OS install or upgrade. ------------------------------------------------------- Scott suggest backup music b4 upgrade.. ------------------------------------------------------ Chad Harris 2/7/2007 3:08 PM PST Ian-- I have never heard or read this. I have a quirky reflex that says lol do you mind posting these reliable sources? I don't think there is anything substantive to *Vista searching and deleting folders without being noticed by the user. CH ---------------------------------------------------- This one says never heard b4.. ------------------------------------------------ PA20Pilot 2/7/2007 8:42 PM PST Hi, I read elsewhere that the deleting without consent isn't a Vista trick, it's Windows Defender doing its job. Like Spybot S&D, Adaware, etc., you're already allowing some programs you're using to delete other programs, malware etc. wihout asking for your permission first. Windows Defender can be shut down as an option. ----------------------------------------------------- I am calling Microsoft Malaysia now.., be back on posting.. |

Do you guys notice that unlike Windows XP, Windows Vista has no visual effects when you restore down and maximise and vice versa for a window? Or I'm the only one experiencing it?

I suggest u guys wait for a good thumbdrive before buying one. You can use most thumbdrive, but if the speed is not up to par, it'll not improve anything.
So far i found 2: Adata PD7 - this is high-end thumbdrive with very fast speed. Check out their website and google for info. http://www.adata.com.tw/adata_en/product_s...uctNo=AP07200SV Kingston Data Traveller ReadyFlash: http://www.kingston.com/flash/dt_readyflash.asp Reviews for these 2 drives has been quite favorable for ReadyBoost compared to other models. Some review links: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AData/MyFlash/3 I can't find the kingston review again...too bad. So choose wisely. This post has been edited by Matrix: Feb 8 2007, 05:08 PM |

QUOTE(deric88 @ Feb 8 2007, 04:09 PM) tried using readyboost today, fyi, the readyboost is not just based on ur thumbdrive, but also based on ur usb header. with a right combination, u can use readyboost.. i plugged in my new 2gb data traveller(1 i guess) it wrote this device does not have the requirement to run readyboost.... but when i plug in my old 256 data traveller, it works.... i had tested few thumbdrives and some need to be plugged at the usb header direct from mobo itself (at the back plate) while some is readyboost 'ready' even when i plug using front usb header (at the casing) QUOTE(apisgogo @ Feb 8 2007, 03:58 PM) plus, im looking foward to this ReadyBoost thing that Vista has.. gonna find a pen drive that support this feature.. any idea what brand? acrobat 7 n 8 confirm work fine update: Macromedia Flash MX : works fine Adobe Acrobat Pro v6 : error msg, can install but unable to initialize (i think v7 can) 2 days Vista Premium experience: not so WoW! Just where they got the ideas of the "OS" delete our music files..? Big possibility is related to the issue below, an old article, but it make mor sense now:
http://news.com.com/Virus+pits+itself+agai..._3-5681561.html QUOTE A hacker has created a virus that targets music lovers by deleting MP3 files on infected computers, according to antivirus company Sophos. This post has been edited by IanLim: Feb 8 2007, 06:54 PM |

Found it online:
The official consumer launch of Windows Vista has brought with it a great deal of confusion, misinformation, and some fairly ignorant assertions. Windows expert Deb Shinder debunks some of the misconceptions she's been hearing, from exaggerated cost and hardware requirements to feature limitations and compatibility issues.
