QUOTE(dattebayo @ Feb 7 2007, 04:21 PM)
how many RAM u have? Is the gaming experience better or worse than XP ?

and can we still use directsound/EAX thingy (run under legacy DX9 EX driver in vista) in games?

I always feel that superfetch has almost crammed all of available physical memory just to fit in those frequent programs, but consider games size is huge compare to user apps, i wonder how superfetch will deal with games
*
Read my sig. smile.gif

EAX should work, but no idea. I use built-in-sound... thumbup.gif

So far to me, the gaming experience is the same, but since i only played 3 games and i don't play FPS, take my comment with a grain of "garam".

But i can tell you the response is good, in fact loading my game is even faster than XP. I suspect VISTA load some of the game data into memory already while i'm not looking...LOL.

Vista also scanned computers to ensure film or music files there were legally copied, bloggers complained.

"They can search your computer via the internet and delete any illegal files including music downloads," Josh said in a posting. "My privacy has been breached."

Microsoft has proclaimed Vista its most secure and thoroughly-tested operating system release.

Vista is totally awesome rclxm9.gif

The minimum of satisfying usage of Vista is 2GB of RAM is it? I've tried with 1GB with the previous RC, it just like using XP 256MB RAM sweat.gif

And one more thing, I've heard that some anti viruses are not compatible with Vista, is it true? What's the best?

Irenic with your hardware spec, do you notice any improvement at all when you use the readyboost feature? Any difference between 512MB vs 1 GB vs 2 GB?

Plan to get a flash drive for readyboost purpose tongue.gif so just want to get more opinions.  biggrin.gif
*
it was said that to optimize readyboost performance, we must use 1:1 , means if ram 2gb, readyboot also using 2gb memory..

in my case, it's hard to feel the difference. maybe bcoz 2gb is enuff already. but when i play game, i can feel the difference.. it runs smoother and the game loads faster eventhough it's not too significant in my case but hey... thumbdrive is damn cheap now.. so there's no harm plug it into ur pc and has it as readyboost bcoz u can also make it as portable storage. 2 in 1 biggrin.gif (bear in mind u cant store data in ur thumbdrive while running it as readyboost)

and one more thing. physical memory for sure provides more significant performance improvement.

Hey guys i only have 1Gb RAM for now. Izzit sufficient to run Vista??
Anyone running Vista with 1GB RAM here?? Can share exp. ? Thanks.

I've tested running vista with maxmem=512 and 512mb readyboost thumbdrive. Booting n loading windows is ok. faster than xp. but opening mycomp, control panel or anything else, seems lag abit. n one more thing, while in windows, my vista eat up abt 280mb ram and abt 500mb pagefile. I would say, the memory management is superior than xp.

after all this, there's 1 article that prevent me fully-switching to vista. GFX temp probe. Seems like, someone, from an OS-Tweaking site burn out his 7600GS just because OHP ( over heat protection ) in current vista driver failed to kick in. His gfx waterblock melted at the copper - die contact. read here :

Has anyone tried and experience such yet??

See..?? You files are still there, meaning, The Star not always accurate as well, are they clarified that the statement is from Microsoft or other resource..?

I don't believe Vista will wipe our songs away, that will kill their sales..

So far, whenever i google for such topic, many replies it's "no"..

But, if this relly happens, i will file a lawsuit to Microsoft!
