Hello guys. I've just installed Windows Vista Beta 2. I noticed that I don't get the aero glass effect even after installing the latest graphic card driver from NVIDIA. By the way, I'm using Geforce FX5200. Besides that, the sound scheme I got is the same as Windows XP. Has anyone come across this? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks. smile.gif

Is there any firewall software which is supported by Windows Vista? I'm using Windows Firewall now and I don't feel safe. Besides that, does anyone know how to make my Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 work on Windows Vista? I tried installing Windows XP's driver but Windows says it doesn't detect any Sound Blaster Live! card on my system. I'd be glad if someone could lend me a helping hand, thanks. smile.gif

Firewall: Windows Vista Beta 2 Software Compatibility List
Creative : Windows Vista - Driver Availability Chart

There are 3 working firewall softwares in the software compatibility list. Try which suits you best. It seems your sound driver not listed in the chart. Try install it manually (read my previous post).

Thanks. I managed to make my sound card work already. Now I don't have to use my onboard sound card anymore. smile.gif Regarding Windows Firewall, what do you think? Is it any good compared to other 3rd party firewall softwares?

Hello guys. What firewall are you guys using for Windows Vista? I noticed that many of the firewalls aren't supported by Vista. Thanks. smile.gif

Sigh... My 2GB Kingston DataTraveler can't support ReadyBoost. I wanna see whether it improves my PC's performance or not. sad.gif

Argh... Good for you. I should have bought one of those two then. Is it because my thumb drive's write/read speed too low? cry.gif

Anyway, is Windows Firewall's protection sufficient? I can't find firewalls that I'm used to, so I'm relying on it.

And one more thing, I've heard that some anti viruses are not compatible with Vista, is it true? What's the best?

You can try Avast!. It fully supports Windows Vista. smile.gif

Do you guys notice that unlike Windows XP, Windows Vista has no visual effects when you restore down and maximise and vice versa for a window? Or I'm the only one experiencing it?

Windows Firewall in Vista failed me. I tried to block all outbound connections and add the programs one by one into the exception list. Guess what? My Internet died. Couldn't sign in to Windows Live Messenger, surf web pages using Firefox. sweat.gif

Oh yeah, it didn't even ask me whether I should allow or block a particular program. That was why I had to add them one by one into the exception list. Even the Windows Firewall in Windows XP SP2 also gives notification when a program is launched. Since it's a full-fledged firewall, I think Microsoft is ought to make it more user friendly.

Actually, the Windows Firewall in Windows Vista is quite powerful. It's able to block unwanted inbound connections. It should be able to compete with other 3rd-party firewall softwares. Just that it's not so user friendly, judging from the problem I faced. The only way now is to allow all outbound connections. This is sometimes a good thing as there are less notifications. But it's harmful if your PC has some unknown softwares or malwares accessing the Internet without your knowledge. smile.gif

Each of the antivirus softwares has its pros and cons. You can refer here to see which antivirus softwares are supported. For free antivirus softwares, you can try avast! or AVG. wink.gif

Has anyone tried the BitLocker and EFS enhancements? How does it really work? I heard you must have TPM 1.2 for it to work. Does ASUS P4P800 have it? Thanks.
