Tahniah! thumbup.gif

My niece also got the offer to the same degree program at UiTM. Perhaps I can connect you with her before you start your program.

She's now in Pahang to fulfill her duty to the country; attending the PLKN, of course! Her father already called the camp commandant to ask him to tell his daughter of the good news! smile.gif

heheh.
should be around 3rd week of may.

Added on May 6, 2012, 4:48 pmafter all the interviews done, i'd have to say this batch in general isnt as impressive as last year's, despite the higher number of applicants. however, it does mean it's easier to separate the really good ones and the not so good ones.

of all that i personally interviewed, i can say i'm 100% confident with only 5 candidates.

why?

bcoz most of them did not have a complete portfolio. heck, they dont even have a folder to compile the drawings. just 2-3 A4s in separate pieces. one of them had the idea to staple them together. i facepalm all the way.

the same with ceevees and resume. put everything in a proper file. get ur ceevee ready and up to date. then only bring the original documents! who the F would wanna see a copy of ur certificates in an interview? nak makan penyepak?

i was annoyed with most of the candidate that i lectured them on how to sit for an interview properly. nasib laaa.

yessir...couldn't be more agreed...as for the recent "diploma senibina utm kl" interviews, the impressiveness is no where to be seen compare to last year...despite the increasingly much better spm result's...

most of them don't prepare all ALL...despite telling the panels that "i have a great interest in architecture"...(which is the common answer to the typical "why architecture?" question's...

we had one candidates came in for the interview wearing "mickey mouse" t-shirt...
we had one candidates came with a very impressive photo-journal unlike his out-of-focus live sketching...
we had one candidates came with no sketches at all despite arguing that he "like" architecture since he was 3 years old...
and don't even mentioned about proper documentation of the cv's....

some how i pity them for traveling quite to utm semarak but had to turn down for not doing enough preparation...heck we had 2 candidates living in tmn melati and kpg baru which are just around the corner of utm semarak...but sadly they never been to studio batu & studio kayu* in utm kl....never had an urge to visit the portfolio review over there.. hmm.gif sad.gif

Actually my niece has a lot to thank mr azarimy and his www.tanggam.com website for her interview preparation for the UiTM degree program. She prepared a neat and concise portfolio, brought her father's galaxy tab (to show renovation works of their house in graphics), brought along her art work from SPM exam (her artwork was ranked No 2 in Sgor) and all the answers (obtained from mr azarimy and his website) to potential questions by the interviewers, memorised before the interview. We told her to be bold, energetive, aggressive but remain polite and composed. And she dressed well also.

She said she immediately showed everything she brought to the interviewers, she talked non-stop about architecture that the interviewers hardly had any chance to ask many questions. She was pleased with the interviewers feedback about her. I guess she already thought she got it in her bag when she left the interviewers.

interesting update:

UTM is starting the 3+2 programme and going discontinue the 5 year programme beginning sept 2011. meaning no more 5 year degree (part 1 and 2) being offered, and we're going for the international standard format. if u're applying 1st year degree (from STPM), UPU will list it as 5 year, but in actual fact it will be 3 years BSc Architecture (part 1 only).

the advantage is, the part 2 (2 years) will be a masters degree (MArch), similar to the australian format. UiTM is the only other IPTA in malaysia offering masters part 2, also will begin this sept.

this is still pending confirmation from the ministry, but it all looks good to go.

(i will update the diagram on 1st page soon).

mr azarimy,

I quoted your one-year old posting, has this been finally confirmed by the ministry?

So, if one completes his 4-year BSc Arch degree (Part 1) from UiTM and continue with Part 2, he will get MArch? I thought Part 2 at UiTM is called BArch(Hon)?

yes, it has been confirmed.

and yes, one will be able to do so.

UiTM's part 2 is MArch, beginning last year. meaning most of the current students are still running the old programme until it's phased off.

ok thanks for the clarification. we were confused since we couldn't find the BArch (Hon) Part 2 program anymore in the UiTM list of degree program. but when we looked at the UiTM postgraduate program, there listed the MArch Part 2 program.

so i guess at UTM, the degree is a 3year program Part 1, and proceed with MArch 2 yr for Part 2, yes?

you should revise the chart on page 1 laaaa...

Mr Azarimy, since I just got Sarjana Muda Sains (Senibina) in UiTM (as a 2011 SPM leaver), can I apply scholarship for JPA THIS year?

And If I accept PTPTN loan, can I apply for scolarship later? I still confused on financing my studies :/

I don't think you can apply scholarship AND have ptptn loan at the same time. Only one at a time.

So how? I thought that the PIDN (Program Ijazah Dalam Negara) scholarship will be out usually on august, and I'm aiming that scholarship. I really want to avoid taking PTPTN loans.

I just want to know whether me as a 2011 SPM leaver is qualified to apply for that scholarship for Sarjana Muda Sains (Senibina). There is no "ijazah" in my programme, so I kinda confused right now.

You can check whether you qualify for the scholarship, if you are eligible then apply for it. If you are shortlisted and all then thats good. If you can't get the scholarship you may opt for the PTPTN loan.
