Im a matric student, just being called for the interview. in oine week, anything i can do to get significant chance in the interview? I had failed one time last year getting the diploma. still have the trauma, really wanna join the field ><

i see portfolio plays a quite important role. what do interviewers normally wanna look for in our portfolio?

And if, i mean if i fail the interview, will i still be offered to interview ( or maybe a direct intake) for architecture in other u that i apply, for example um?

This is quote from mr azaraimy:

"normally questions would revolve around:

+ why architecture and why not something else
+ the motivation to do it
+ inspirations (be it a person, a building, something u read etc)
+ why do u think u're good enough
+ why this university

and so on.

then there's another part of the interview which will explore ur problem solving skills. nothing too fancy. if u've done some IQ tests, u'd do just fine.".

i suggest you go to his website www.tanggam.com. there's plenty of useful and relevant information about architecture in the website. take some initiatives to read up the forums in that website.

thank you.

refer to what stamp has posted above.
they wanna see best works so far, as well as progress. some people progress very well in the last 5-6 months before the interviews, where although the best work is less impressive, the progress will be taken into consideration as well.

it's not limited to artworks. it can be photography, mural, comics, logo design, publications, sculptures, landscape design, interior design and so on.
u will be called for the interviews by ALL schools who would offer u. which means u might pass more than one interview. in such case, u will only receive offer from the highest school on ur preference list. for example:

u apply to UTM, UM, UIA, USM and UPM.
u get called by UTM, UM and UPM.
u passed interviews from UM and UPM, but failed UTM.

so UPU will forward to u UM's offer. simple enough?

actually u may bring whatever u have. those are the minimum guide, should u dont know what to bring. it's okay NOT to have either one of those.

Hi Mr Azarimy, if not to bring either one of those to there, how will the interviewers evaluate me?

Sir, I found a website stated that Utm ranks 6th between architectural university in Asia. However, some of my peers doubted on this ranking and they wondered why HongKong and Singapore these top universities which provide great courses aren't in the list too. To be neutral, what're sir's opinions on this statement? If it's true, how does Utm stand out from the rest in Asia? Thanks

it was a new ranking system. the criteria was still being developed. as a new ranking system, most schools dont even bother submitting to their inquiries, but UTM was one of the few that did. now that they've published the rankings the 1st time, other universities must be eager to prove that they're better than UTM lol.

but the criteria are quite interesting. they rank several things that werent focused on other rankings such as winning competitions, employer awareness, accreditation and so on.

Oh, so Utm does win on these criteria?
