But some nos are on low side. To survive financially by the time u 30, u must make minimum 6-7k. 12k by 40. These are absolute min amount taking into consideration of expected living expenses at that age.
Otherwise almost impossible to retire unless u have some well thought fin plan for retiring ie investment on property or equity. The above r strictly general nos at the worst case, u shld aim higher.

agree with you. though if you are already earning around RM7k by 30, you should be much more well off by the time you reached 40.
a lot of early 30s are now earning in excess of RM10k per month.

This one I'm also perplex because if I recall there was some statistic saying that less than 3% or was it 1% of the workforce earn more than RM10k per month (based on KWSP contribution)...

Granted, those entrepreneurs or own business will not be part of the statistic so we never really know the closest estimate by age on how much they earn unless our Hasil Team improve their auditing capability on those sdn bhd. Then again I met quite a few who earn more than 10k in mid 30s that have equal lifestyle to match that they struggle... some overgear and some overspend... and some of them tumble quite a fair bit and fade away...

I don't know how's the salary comparison in Singapore. But if you compare ringgit to ringgit, an 8 years experience project manager with RM5K+ basic is really low IMHO.

I think even for SG you are underpaid. The amount you are earning monthly (not per annum) is achievable and exceeded by execs. You are in managerial capacity.

You want to move forward, then the way is clear. The more you are paid, the more heavy your responsibilities.

the issue is that, bonus is pegged to the company performance/profit for the year. i received 2.5 months only in 2009. imo, higher basic > high bonus. it's also easier to ask for better term if move on to another company.

Job Hopping may be one way to achieve higher salary. However, it isnt the only way.

PERFORMANCE IN THE RIGHT COMPANY is another way.
