I use the same method also and it works like a charm.
Initially i had the unresponsive issue until i so fedup and pressed the home button until accidently tear off the protector screen at the side of home button.

Whoooaaa.... no need to be so garang. tongue.gif

Alternatively you can also JB the thing and use multi-gesture to replace the home button. MG works for me.

hi guise, found new solution, yet to try

Hi All,

As we know the home button can be a pain in the behind when it wants to be. If yours has gotten really bad then a visit to the Apple store may be the only option. However if you find your button is just missing the occasional click here and there (like mine was) this resolved the problem for me.

The cause of the problem appears to be caused by dust build up behind the home button as shown in this picture. I would imagine in most cases its nowhere near this extreme:

These are the steps I took to resolve the issue which appear to have worked perfectly:

1) Turn off the iPhone

2) tap the bottom edges of the phone either side of the home button sharply (but not too rough obviously).

3) Repeatedly click the home button and repeat step 2.

4) Attach a thin edge attachment to your vacuum cleaner and hold near the dock connector port.

5) Continue to tap the bottom edges and click the home button with the vacuum cleaner still held to the dock connector.

6) Tun on the iPhone to a perfectly functional home button.

7) Keep it that way for longer by purchasing one of these from eBay:

The dock connector covers also come in a transparent colour, and you can also purchase a headphone jack cover which I am awaiting in the post. They are also handy for keeping out rain etc which triggers the moisture detectors rendering your warranty void.

i just got my replacement today.

- go to maxis klcc, told them i have a prob with my home button. they gave a number so i just waited for my turn
- at the counter, just say my home button not as responsive. they play2 with my home button. actually mine wasnt so serious, and when he play my home button was actually fine tongue.gif
- they check for water damage
- i told them i forgot to bring my warranty card, but using my mykad was fine
- they asked me if i already backup or not. i did, but i guess they can help u if u havent
- i wiped my phone. settings > general > reset > erase all contents and settings
- took off my casing, screen protector, and sim card.
- go shopping
- after 2 hours, go maxis cntre again, take number again. go counter n pick up my phone. u can activate at the counter but i chose not to
- they gave me a new warranty card
- put back my casing on and realized i lost my screen protectors sad.gif

Why it took 2 hours waiting time? I would say the home-button problem is kind of wear and tear issue, it might come back within a period of time, or it might not.
