Good news guys,

After havings a lot of disappointment with my iPhone 4 homebutton.

I made a decision to go to the Maxis Centre KLCC, which is the main branch for Maxis Centre.

I reached there at 9 AM and was told the Technician will only come in the office at 10.30 AM at the earliest. But I was told I can get my phone within the same day.

So I surrendered my phone at 9 AM, approximately at 11 AM I received a brand new looking iPhone which is scratchless and the homebutton very virgin.

I'm lovin my changed phone now.

My advice is the best thing directly go to Maxis KLCC for immediate assistance.

Good luck guys.

Saw this in some forum, not sure it works for u guys or not, but I find my home button become more responsive after did this:
(1) Run any app
(2) Press & Hold the power button on top till the "slide to power off" red bar appear
(3) don't slide it & release ur power button
(4) now press home button few seconds till the screen back to ur home screen.
(5) Walaaa now ur home button is back to "normal" again
I saw quite many ppl claims that this method really works, and it works like a charm for me too (not placebo effects)
Cheers

Apparently no. They would have given you the phone if they have it in the first place. I was told the replacement units are from Petaling Jaya, it takes 2 hours for them to arrived at KLCC.

haha ok good info right here. thanks!

i just got my replacement today.

- go to maxis klcc, told them i have a prob with my home button. they gave a number so i just waited for my turn
- at the counter, just say my home button not as responsive. they play2 with my home button. actually mine wasnt so serious, and when he play my home button was actually fine tongue.gif
- they check for water damage
- i told them i forgot to bring my warranty card, but using my mykad was fine
- they asked me if i already backup or not. i did, but i guess they can help u if u havent
- i wiped my phone. settings > general > reset > erase all contents and settings
- took off my casing, screen protector, and sim card.
- go shopping
- after 2 hours, go maxis cntre again, take number again. go counter n pick up my phone. u can activate at the counter but i chose not to
- they gave me a new warranty card
- put back my casing on and realized i lost my screen protectors sad.gif

Why it took 2 hours waiting time? I would say the home-button problem is kind of wear and tear issue, it might come back within a period of time, or it might not.
*
apparently 2 hours because that's the time they need to get the unit from warehouse (or something). read back the previous post, i remember someone said something like this. also the home button problem is kind of a well-known issue, that's why it's covered by warranty

QUOTE(shark7 @ Sep 19 2011, 08:49 PM)
are u sure its ok if not bring the warranty card/service card ??
bcause my service card already lost with the box in my house.still can't find it.

and when u checkhed your phone is ok,why did u change your phone ??

after 2 hours,u just go to maxis centre or they called you after 2 hours ?

and what u mean by "u can activate at the counter but i choose not to".. activate what?

so the new warranty card.,is it another 1 year ?
*
well im not saying it's ok not to bring warranty card. i'm just sharing it was okay for me. maybe i was lucky? no idea

my home button was not in tip top condition. still usable, but maybe 25% of the time it cant register a double click. it would only get worse, so might as well get it changed now since im still under the official apple warranty (up to sept 26th 2011). im scared after the warranty ends (maxis extra 1year iphone warranty starts, since im in a 2year contract) it might get a little bit more complicated to RMA

err after 2 hours i went back to the maxis centre. they can't call me, remember? tongue.gif hahahaha

activate iphone of course. it's not something u put in the sim card, on and straightaway use. have to connect to itunes etc 1st.

no, the warranty card doesnt extend my warranty another year. no warranty works like that bro. the old card has a IMEI number matching my old iphone IMEI number... this new card has the new iphone IMEI, that's all.

the 2nd year warranty by maxis only ? surely maxis gotta go back to apple for repair since they can't repair the phone themselves or hired a 3rd party ? so there's no different for 1st year and 2nd year warranty ?
*
yeah that's my concern. any 3gs owners got experience sending in for warranty in the 2nd year?

all the iphone 4s dont have home button problem so far right ?
*
this problem is more of a wear issue. i dont think there's any problem with the iphone4 button in its first few months. give it some time and we'll probably see 4S having the same issue too
