U,guys ever encounter the wear and tear of the metal cover covering ur bat at the back? Like the layer started to peel off?
Anyone know where I can find an alternative cover for that?
Thanks.

^normal wear and tear. Can probably ask HTC. Or you can use sand paper to polish the back to have a shiny look. Search on XDA about that.

What casings are you guys using now? I've been using Otterbox for all my gadgets for years, but for some off reason, otterbox's website have this weird bug in their billing address field, which will cause mismatch with my credit card details! UGH. Really need it for DZ and the Tab And iPhone4.. LOL

Guys,
My ROM now is 1.82.707++ with Android 2.2.1. Would it be possible for me to root it from here or I would need to downgrade it?
Your advice is much appreciated.
thanks.

more reason to root your device and freeze or remove /system/app/HtcLoggers.apk there is a different view on this matter at AndroidCentral http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-collecti...py-way-securityeither way, im glad that i flashed virtuous sense the moment i got the phone, there is no HTCLoggers.apk in it

same thing on MIUI. it safe from HTCLoggers.apk but it is sad knowing this and yet still no official reply from them. I got a lot of friends using HTC phone with stock sense who are clueless on what Rooting is all about. (This is where people will start throwing nonesense like - See! I told you to get an Iphone!) Now, how am I gonna teach them to root and remove HTCLoggers.apk

but the guys at AndroidCentral said that they only collect important information to rectify the issues/crashes that happens on the phone. this is quite logical though, because they do not employ Google's approach of reporting as per issue/crash happen. Perhaps HTC does this automatically. Buf of course all these are assumptions, must get an official statement frpm HTC or get backdoor confirmation from someone working in HTC. For me, I take this kind of news with a grain of salt, might be true, might be not true. But I choose to believe that they are only logging them for crashes etc well, at least i hope so

Let just see where will this issue go. Personally I don't really care on such matter, but I am pretty sensitive if its matter related to privacy. I'm pretty sure most android user are.
But as you said, HTC won't bother using our details for things that does not benefited them.
It just that I hope this hole is meant only for HTC. Not other apps that can access our phone by simply having the permission to go to the internet and tadaa switches port and you have a strangers details to play with.

what are the steps that you have tried to resolve the problems? does clearing the market's cache worked? AOSP or CM? if CM, you can try reflashing gapps (backup your current phone in ROM manager first)

freeze Market Updater using Titanium Backup, then go to Manage Applications -> Market -> Uninstall Update.
Actually the security issue is quite serious. HTC might not have a use for the data htcloggers.apk collected, but as demonstrated by the proof of concept app, any app that requests the Internet permissions will get access to all the data, with the possibility to upload it to a remote server.

an update to the security flaw in issue. HTC confirms the vulnerability and working to patch it http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/04/htc-con...ch-is-incoming/ but to be honest, don't they hire 3rd party security team to do penetration testing and all? A company as big as HTC should have this practise to ensure the security of their products, not just by finding a better way to lock their bootloader and why didn't they response to the guy who found the flaw in the first place buck up HTC, u make great devices

Okay..and the loophole is pretty stupid as well.
*permission to access internet *switch port
voila?
this so not funny. is like they do not follow standard security procedure before releasing their product.
