Oh.. okay.. thanks for the clarification..
Another quick question here, anyone here uses skype? I read on skype forum that HTC phones have problems (voice quality, call drop, etc), so I want to check if anyone here faces the same problem or not. smile.gif

^2.3 is not out officially yet. So far the one of the 2.3 custom ROMs is CM7, which is very near to its stable release already.

Another is GingerSense which is based on the Wildfire S and HTC HuaShan leak. That one is as close to a Sense-d 2.3 ROM as it gets until Desire Z gets its taste of the gingerbread.

Oh there's also another one based on the Desire HD 2.3 ROM leak, which also has Sense.

There really isn't a point in watching 720p or higher resolution on the Desire Z (or any 800X480 screen for that matter). The maximum height is 480, so anything beyond that is taxing for the phone to downsize, but doesn't actually bring improved clarity/crispness. HQ I guess is 480p.

Thanks. Any of those rom work with G2 model? I would love to try Gingersense after my final.

Possible be due to the file size. Generally if you phone can tahan one day with moderate usage then it should be fine. You can't really expect your phone to not have battery usage if you make it do strenuous work.

Try the same thing after about 2 weeks of normal using the phone. Maybe the battery is not used to being used yet.

But dun obsess too much with battery life.

Alrighty. Noted. Thanks again ("

18 hours is good enough la. It's not like you're awake for 16 hours also (wake up at 8, sleep at 12am).

Alright, it seems I can fully confirm the sleeping beauty condition will only affect selected units. I got mine returned to me a month ago after repair and it's surviving 48 hours without going into coma. So get yours repaired before your warranty ends.
*
shyt..its happening to me now ._. the phone notification light is on but the phone cannot turn on..i just flash my rom ain't it due to that?

When u send for warranty, did you use your stock rom back?

Notification LED on? I suspect underclock. You got use SetCPU or any CPU profiling app ah? MexDroid is based on CM7, and CM7 has a built-in profiling menu if I not mistaken. Check if you played with the settings there too much.
*
QUOTE(rkwan67 @ Mar 17 2011, 10:56 PM)
Yup, cm7 do have cpu profile build it. In the settings menu, cynogenmod, performance, cpu.

I'm still using 806mhz, low on 245mhz, and on demand. Hmm, if overclock, it always have problem of screen turn on difficulties.

But the performance diff of 800 and 1.1 is huge. Argh..
*
Yes in my original settings in cm7 cpu profile is 1.4/1.8 which cause my battery - super hot. So i switch it to 206/806 on demand. Is that the fault? >_<

Haha, smartphone wasn't that smart after all huh?

Probably the kernel is optimzed for that speed, thus as djfoo said underclock then caused the problem.
*
Damn if we go higher..the battery will cry of hotness. gee.

underclocking will sometimes cause the screen not have enough power to turn on when prompted (more specifically under screen off profile). I used to do profiling. But then I do not find it to improve my day to day use significantly. Ditched the idea. Living happily ever after.

The sleeping beauty problem is a total power down. No LED on, no nothing. If lights still come up it's probably something you've done that went wrong.

It's always a good to read what the profiles and governors do, and how different frequencies work for different ROMs. CM7 is known to have some screen issues when over and underclocked to unnecessary levels.
*
Thanks for the clear advice. Trying a new profle now and hope it works (: If it turn out bad, i will be just like you - ditched it.

and now i get the clear picture of sleeping beauty syndrome. 'no led' 'no nothing'. Thanks again!

After i calibrate my battery on stock rom, it last really long (:

if you are playing game - off data connection. If u are on the run - use 2g only. Use 3g when you need to download stuff.

Also, usually i have my laptop with me almost everytime. I on my laptop and put it in the bag, plug in the usb cable for g2 and take out the cable from the bag through the little space i made from closing both my bag zip.

Thanks to the length of the usb cable i can freely use my g2 on the run especially when its dieing.

owners of this phone are guys happy with it..? is the qwerty keyboard durable?
current market price is..?
*
The keyboard is fine, but after i change the touch screen keyboard to multiling keyboard, i tend to use the touch screen more tongue.gif its faster.

I bought this nearly 2 weeks ago. Since i buy AP i get it around rm1600 + 8 GB micro SD.

QUOTE
Put it on airplane mode, can last you 7 days. lol

Wow. Never thought of that. haha

what is multiling keyboard?........

if that is the case, it defeats the purpose of having a physical qwerty keyboard, no?.....
*
Its some sort of a different touch screen keyboard compare to the original android keyboard where the kepad is wider so you rarely accidently press two button at the same time. Physical keyboard is important because sooner or later you will crave to use it. Seriously.

QUOTE(vo0de3_x | oum@n @ Mar 25 2011, 12:17 PM)
how u calibrate the battery ? follow desire hd calibrate step ?
*
!!
I calibrate the baterry by draining the baterry to zero (until your phone died) after it died you on it again until the baterry really empty. Then charge for 8 hours and repeat the step the next day.

QUOTE(scnix @ Mar 25 2011, 05:16 PM)
For the battery issue, download Juice Defender and configure it to allow certain apps to run in the background like WhatsApp, eBuddy, etc etc. And allow Auto-sync, which allows all Google APIs to sync.

My phone used to only last around 14 hours ('cause I like to have my background data on to sync emails and messages). Now it can last 2 days if I don't purposely drain my battery (playing Dungeon Defender) every night biggrin.gif

Hey! Thanks for mentioning this awesome software. Its so detailed and i love it. Hope it works really well since it looks good.

question: how to transfer my phone book data (mostly just numbers) from my old dopod (win mobile 6.1) to android?.......

problem is, i cannot sync with any computer for the last year since i upgraded to 6.1, so i have not been able to upload info into outlook........

and the dying dopod cannot read the sd card lately (hence the need to change phone)..........
*
Transfer to sim card first?
