QUOTE(ronnie @ Feb 24 2011, 02:06 PM) SCB ChoicePoints is valid for 3 years (edited) and I like that it can be converted to cash [RM25 = 5000 ChoicePoints] For SCB CCs, the best redemption is actually cash redemption which requires lower points compared to shopping vouchers. Unless you have SCB Preferred WMC, where you can redeem a few premium items at more than 50% discount points as opposed to normal points required. On top of the free unlimited access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge, every RM1 spent on your SCB Platinum in overseas will give you 3x points. But it is still cannot beat Maybankard 2 Amex which gives 5x points. Do note that both SCB and Amex impose higher admin fee on forex conversion.

QUOTE(soitsuagain @ Feb 24 2011, 12:26 PM) as long as your salary is credited to your maybank account, you can go to any maybank branch and apply. it is automatically pre-approved. is it? my salary actually went into other bank. i use MBB for FD and CASA only. so now i must show them the pay slip la? QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 24 2011, 12:42 PM) for those wanting to apply for MBB credit card, better you apply thru the branch or by fax. this fri i will print the pay slip and apply directly at bank... damn ma fan already now. from pre-approved, now have to go through the normal application! I have a problem to pay my credit card for the last 6 month bcos i'm saving for my wedding (this year), give some to my parents tabung haji (also this year) and for the last 6 month I've got a job which is the salary only half of my previous salary.
I'm still paying to the bank but apparently it less than the minimum fee bcos if i pay more than that i have to mkn pasirla.
Is there any chance for me to write a letter to bank mentioning my financial status and perhaps continues to pay the said amount until i find a better job with better salary?

Good day guys, I haven’t applied any cc before, and I doesn’t really know how cc really work and I hope u guys can tell me more about cc.. For example, A normal classic cc IF I buy a LED TV which cost me RM 3,000, at the end of the month, the statement comes and I settled them straight away, how much interest do I have to pay? And if I pay according to the “minimum payment” at the statement every month, how much interest do I actually have to pay until I fully settled this RM 3,000?

1. u have to pay 3000 when the statement come. interest charge come in if you did not pay, or did not pay full amount at next statement. 2. dont pay minimum payment, it is beginning of nightmare. buy only what you can pay, and pay what u must pay.

You may request the bank to restructure your debt but the chance could be slim. Or else, you can consider to do BT.

Citibank, HSBC and HLB are also good alternatives. Continue using smartly, try not to get one month late and voila you can apply everything even if they ask for 120k/yr min income.

Your chances are very low. I'd advise to stop using your credit card immediately. You may think you are smart but you do not realize the long term impact to your credit history from your actions. You may proceed further with whatever you think fit but be mindful of the consequences to yourself. I have repeatedly mentioned that banks are not charity and the bank will (almost certainly) refer your request to AKPK should you request to structure your repayment. (AKPK are established for this purpose) Set realistic spending/savings expectations for yourself to recover from this debt position. This post has been edited by hye: Feb 24 2011, 08:03 PM

i suggest you go to any bank ask the card services executive to explain these things to u, it would be clearer when things are explained face-to-face. or u may call to any bank to ask. Added on February 24, 2011, 10:44 pmbtw, just wanna share sth bt Maybank Cust Service. My friend went to Maybank (Sarawak branch) ask them abt the Maybankard2, during CNY time and OMG they don't even knw abt the launch of Maybankard 2. A lot of answer the exec fr the cards service dept couldn't answer. Then, I actually left my number at the Maybankard 2 website a few days before CNY (early of Feb) and til now only I receive their call...the CS happily highlighted the benefits of the card until I asked her "how about overseas transaction fee? i knw AMEX is abt 2.5% how bt VISA/MASTER" she couldn't answer me and say will get back to tat particular quest later but she never call me back yet on the same day LOL! then i told her further that I'm actually insterested with Master instead of Visa, she told me have to wait til Apr/May. Then when I ask her if the features of Visa/Master are the same? She say she couldn't answer cause Master is not launch yet ". This post has been edited by tzeling: Feb 24 2011, 10:53 PM

If you pay in full the outstanding amount i.e. the total transacted outstanding amount stated in your Monthly Statement before the due date (may not be end of the month), you will not be imposed interest. If you pay after the Due Date, you will be imposed Late Payment Penalty and Daily Interest Charges. If you pay the minimum payment of 5%, and since you are new to CC, your interest will be 17.5% p.a. It will take you approximately 5 years to pay the RM3000 if you only paid minimum payment. You must pay the total outstanding amount every month to avoid interest charges or else you will end up like norman05051984 case. Below are some articles that I have posted in my blog, go read it.
