Things I can't stand at gym:

1) People dropping weights. Very obnoxious.

2) Excessive grunting.

3) Hogging machines. (Spending 10 - 15 minutes on a machine is retarded. Complete your sets and move on)

4) Buff douchebags - Seriously, I see a couple of them right here in this thread. If people are doing bad form, don't just stand at the side and laugh at them with your friend. HELP THEM. If you see someone struggling to complete their sets, it doesn't hurt to help spot for them.

I rarely see chicks at the machine and free weights area. Too afraid that they will magically become buff after lifting 5 kgs.

3. my whole regime revolves around the power rack & barbell. about 1 hour for my sets+rest time. happy to share though, not my fault if you don't ask.

4. MYOB. unless you're a certified instructor, I think we should all STFU. I see Personal Trainers practicing bad form themselves, much less their clients.

I don't mind helping if people ASKED me to help, but I won't be Mr.Smart Alec and offer people help because *I* think they are doing bad form.

Once a Mr.Smart Alec wanted to correct me for ATG squats, I wanted to slap him.

I drop weights.........sometimes. Not uncommon if you don't have a training partner, lift heavy and occasionally work to failure.

U mad bro?

Not sure what their intention is.

Possibly lacking attention.

I don't see the issue with dropping weights as long as you're not trying to shot put the dumbbell to the nearest person's foot.

None needed.

But perhaps you should quit with your holier-than-thou attitude while you're not too far behind eh. MAYBE some people use heavier dumbbells than the 20s on incline press.

At my gym there are a group of guys who repeatedly thump the barbell on the floor while doing deadlifts for reps. Its distracting sometimes - but I ain't hatin' on them. We're all brothers in the iron game and I don't disrespect anyone who is putting in the effort and I am not the owner so it isn't my business anyways.

That's THROWING the weights. Dropping the weights is completely different.

Its not ideal I admit but it happens.

Some workouts are not exactly solo-friendly. Incline press being a particular standout.

throw != drop.

also, common sense la, bumper dumbells + rubber flooring = massive bouncing. don't drop dumbells like you're dropping oly barbell. because its not an olympic barbell.

dropping weight is fine. i drop it on my last set.

lil bit of grunt is fine but screaming is not

and the thing i hate the most, people hogging the area ( bench, pull up station, cable station... its random ) and sembang2 instead of working out.
b**** please.. kopitiam/mamak is ----> that way

Nothing to argue about here tbh. U can definitely tell when someone is dropping/throwing weights on purpose or not.

Sometimes its just safer to drop em, especially when you're doing a set to failure.

U should probably aiming the hate on the people who SLAMS the weight down set after set.

You don't share the gym with Ronnie Coleman, Ronnie Coleman shares his gym so you can see him workout.

ala... dropping weights i think if u drop it after ur sets esp doin heavy weights are ok...

but those who throw plates or dumbells around just to move them in place or out of the way are fakin annoying...

saw a fat dude approx 100kg just let go of a 10kg plate from chest height straight to the ground when removing the plates from the bench.. acting like some badass but he benches 40kg total... wtf...

all that time i was wishing for the plates to somehow crack and hes asked to pay up.... haha

i think dropping dumbbells no matter how heavy (as this is relative) with disregard to your surroundings is poor attitude especially in a crowded gym.

dropping barbells from deadlifts especially when testing maxes is normal because you shouldn't worry about the eccentric phase of the lift.

other lifts such as the snatch will need to be dropped once the lift is completed but care should be taken to push the bar down to prevent it from bounding out of control. even oly platforms have rubber surfaces which does cause the barbell to bounce about.

i think there's a difference between dropping the weights due to fatique and dropping the weights just for the sake of showing it's heavy. i guess there's some point in life where we meet ppl who just drop weights coz they can't be bothered to gently put them down..

there's this guy in my gym...tiny little thing...overhead DB press of 25lbs each...i counted his reps...sometimes 10 sometimes 8...sometimes 5...(counted coz he was hogging the bench smile.gif) but he just literally throws his 2x25lbs on the floor when he's done as tho he mad ...it friggin annoys me coz seems like he has the extra strength to 'throw' them...should have just put em down nicely...
