YUP! Unfortunately, I argued with my mother yesterday as she wants me home to do renovation clean up. So i sucked it up, went home, also lifted some heavy stuff, then went back to the gym.

But unfortunate part was that whenever I lifted, the left fingers feel like rolling off the bar. My thumb couldn't stick. (I use a double overhand grip for DLs) But managed to churn out 3 reps. Then went down to 105kg for 4 reps. It was at 105kg that I had the idea to do Hook Grip instead. And I felt proud.

I wanted to be polite. Because sharing is caring. I was just telling myself to be focused as much as I can to the lift. The nervousness was quite daunting.

I do my deadlifts with mixed grip, and it feels more comfortable although less power gripping the bar..

But for PRs, I do 125kg double overhand grip for maximum power... smile.gif Still needs improvement before reaching 140kg..

In the gym that I usually go to, I saw one personal trainer do 220kg 2 reps of deadlift! Perfect form! Seriously he's good and when I asked him, he said that he really likes strength training.. smile.gif

2 guys, in boxers, sitting down in the changing room chatting away. I changed, went toilet, came back take stuff, still there. And this is peak hours mind you, its stuffy there and smell of sweat.

I mean, you could get dressed and chat outside with proper chairs and tables right. Or I guess you can be in your boxers ogling at the other guy in boxers.

I think he might be referring to the "tentacle" between the testicles.

it's a changing room. deal with the fact that there will be people going about their business naked. ofcourse, if he's doing the 'i'm sexy and you know it' wiggle so blatantly, then it's time to give him a piece of your mind.

as for your deadlifts, HEAVY farmer walks using either dumbells or barbells. kettlebells too if they're available and heavy enough.

you might want to try to chalk up before you lift and see if that improves your grip. sometimes, the problem can be as simple as you're not gripping hard enough.

Yup, without straps and mized grip..grip usually fail first but normally what I do is that after my grip fails, I put the bar down, rest for a little while, then continue doing it until lower back fails.. this is normal for weak grips like myself..

I am planning to do some experiment on dead start for each rep, meaning putting the bar on the ground, reset the grip, with no rest or 1 sec rest in between reps, do another rep and so on.. This will off course cheats the purpose of grip training during deadlifting but I suppose your deadlift number will increase?

There are some papers on how to improve grip strength..I'm still looking into that too.. smile.gif

Contradicting yourself?

I agree with doing deadstops. Tbh I prefer doing it that way. Deadlifts ain't about grip anyways. I'll do bounce reps as burnouts, pretty damn intense. Use straps for those so you can just focus one getting the bar up.
