QUOTE(razorboy @ Oct 19 2011, 10:27 AM) your arms are hooks to the bar, your arms are attached to your traps, which means in the movement, the load is on your traps. If your traps dont get fried, basically, at the top of the movement, you are hanging on with your arms, not your traps. dude are you saying deadlifts do more to your traps than shrugs? deadlifts uses traps, i agree, but my traps are way more sore the next day if i did smith shrugs

well shrugs isolates the traps , but deads work them just as well. Because you mentioned that you don't feel it in your traps and just your legs. Well, unless you are doing a SLDL, quite frankly, the main focus should be in your back , not your legs. With a deadlift, I feel my traps, lats, middle back lower back get hammered before I start feeling anything more in my legs, not that I don't feel anything at all but it'll be like the 1st working set instead of the feeling of getting hammered. I don't know if you get the idea. But that is what I'm trying to point out here.
and I agree on the shrugging causes more soreness on my traps, but If I do deads b4 shrugs, my poundages would go down most definitely, in fact, it would go down a lot. Because the traps were already fried. Btw, dark, non-taken. This is the kind of discussion that should be happening in this forum, not how nitrotech will give us sixpack kind of discussion.

QUOTE(mikehuan @ Oct 19 2011, 08:37 AM) Hmm never did get a trap workout from deadlifts though. Imo deadlifting gave me more strength gains rather than anything else. Helps to put poundages in your other lifts. I was referring to this. that's why. Just saying that DLS hit the back > legs bro. I just saw dark's post after I post thats why This post has been edited by razorboy: Oct 19 2011, 11:50 AM

It depends on what level you start your deadlifts from guys. Both of you are right. pin adjustment on the rack.

And there was once I did shrugs on shoulder days, and the next day was back, man that workout was a pain throughout. I literally had to slap myself to keep myself focused on hammering my back than the soreness that I had to deal with

chill, healthy discussion is healthy. hmm i probably need to change my words a bit. by getting a workout i meant being very very sore the next day. and yes, my back gets it more than legs. specifically lower back gets hit the worst not just pin placements though since i dl from the floor hip start position matters too. all about leverages. heh, my routine is i rest a day after back days so at least im recharged a bit for shoulders

Yesterday I went to the ghetto gym. Was resting between sets so I decided to look around the "scenery". Saw two bodybuilders. They took turns doing half ROM wide grip pull ups with the comfort of straps. I think that is quite normal, warm up the lats before they blast it or perhaps finishing off their lats with this final set of pull ups. Then I noticed they spotted or "helped" each other with the pull ups by holding on to the hips..... can say half of an ass grab or ass push. Usually I don't let much get to me already but this is just disgusting
