for HSBC visa platinum is it now free as long as you swipe 12 times a year. Amanah is free also. Today at Midvalley, the HSBC told me that Amanah give cash back and even GST, but I was not interested so didn't bother to ask further. Go check it out.

Ok thanks bro. Btw, what's the diff between Gold Visa/Master and Amanah Gold Visa

Just to note ... you can't really "apply" HSBC Premier MC just because you want to. You need to "earn" it.

Amanah as the name implies is based on Islamic principles. So you can't use it for clubbing tongue.gif and non-halal transactions.

Anyway, please note that HSBC overseas transaction is high, read the last few pages of the previous thread.

No. They are not giving any waiver no matter how hard we beg them. Anyway, they do give out free cash for new card approved by xx/xx/xx. You can find out more about this promotion in their website.

Anyone knows how does Citibank credit card fare in terms of exchange rate for overseas transaction ? I have charged AU$188.64 to my Citibank VISA which i received just this evening from Poslaju. Hopefully someone can post your transaction made in AU$ (if any) so we can compare the rates.

If you have HSBC or Citibank credit card that gives you lots of discount in certain countries such as Singapore and Hong Kong or if you have a Maybank credit card that gives a very favorable exchange rate, then yes. Definitely. Otherwise, cash probably will help you to minimize the loss in exchange rate better.

it depends on the exchange rate of the currency at the time of purchase. For example, if you exchange US at money changer a week before you went overseas and while you were there, US currency weaken and then by using the card you will most probably pay less. However if the rate was constant, using card you will end up paying more as there is an admin charge. Do note that some cards do give more points for overseas transactions e.g. RHB Travel & most Plat cards.

Yeah, most promotions are from Citibank in Singapore which is why i mentioned Hong Kong as well. Because Hong Kong is HSBC's turf smile.gif

Prior to the anniversary of my SCB WMC, I will convert the card to SCB Business Visa Platinum. SCB WMC's benefit really sucks!

When you convert, you still need to pay the RM50 GST also, right ?

there is no way bank will waived gst for new card.
each time new card had been approved, it will be charged with the gst, no matter if not swipe yet.
but several bank offer cash back, so u can use it to cover ur gst.

Is it true that HSBC cc got many privileges? Most of the shops asked me whether I have HSBC cc or not, so that I can get further discount for the item that I purchased.. sweat.gif
Currently I only have Maybank Sony cc.
Hong Leong classic and CIMB Gold DirectAccess are still on the delivery to my house doh.gif
