why not using agoda? hsbc user can get up to 20% off room rate with complimentary upgrade / extra 7% off for Premier / extra 6% for Platinum / extra 5% for Gold. but id expedia rate is lower than agoda then nvm ~
I only found out about this last night. I booked the room at Park Taipei Hotel for US$405.80 through Expedia. I just check with Agoda just now and was quoted US$474.24 for four nights at the same hotel. Is the price quoted in Agoda after discount or what ? Even after the 7% discount, it is still more expensive than Expedia.

Anyway, i need to know if the price quoted in Agoda is after discount or not because i want to book a hotel room in Hong Kong next. Please let me know soon. Thanks in advance smile.gif

well, my credit card gets increasement of Credit Limit two times... will it be noted in CCRIS?

Not sure about this. But they can definitely see your latest total credit limit for all your credit cards issued in Malaysia.

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 10 2010, 07:50 PM)
I have read through CCRIS overall, i don't see they will note any credit cards which is under collateral / fixed deposit pledge.
Yes. There is. I am very sure of this. Like 110% sure. I had a secured VISA credit card from HSBC before. You can search for the scanned image of my CCRIS that i posted in the credit card thread version 11.

QUOTE(erry- @ Dec 10 2010, 09:16 PM)
err no idea. pls refer here - hsbc home and away privilege
Read the whole thing. No mention if the discount is given upon checking out on Agoda or it will be reflected in our account statement on a later date.

QUOTE(bryan_x00 @ Dec 10 2010, 11:45 PM)
OCBC 1% isn't it equivalent to Amex 2x points? Why OCBC no doubt? Can elaborate? Thanks.
Because this card gives you 5% discount on all utility bills, all petrol stations, dining and groceries shopping. Any other card that gives you so much discount in one card ? No. Do take note of the RM50 capped per month though.

Do you mean you get the HSBC credit card by collateral too?

Yes. Pledge by Time Deposit. It is written clearly in the CCRIS report i got from BNM that the particular HSBC VISA is under some sort of collateral. Meaning it is a credit card secured by fixed deposit.

how come i get charged with RM8 for courier service?
CIMB Bank is still charging RM8 for delivery to East Malaysia (so much for 1Malaysia, Sabah might as well change its name back to British North Borneo) and as far as i am concerned, a few other banks also charge delivery fee to East Malaysia such as EON Bank and RHB Bank.

Did you use ur HSBC time deposit card to apply for other bank's card? Success?
No. I had two credit cards from HSBC. The VISA one is secured by Time Deposit while the other is not. Anyway, i had canceled the VISA which is a secured credit card. I am only using the other credit card from HSBC now.

I have applied for credit card from other banks using the only credit card i have now from HSBC and have successfully got two credit cards from Citibank approved. The second credit card from Citibank was approve just 2 days ago biggrin.gif

Just saw the new Citibank Platinum credit card today. It sparks a much cleaner design and the VISA/MasterCard emblem is moved to the back of the card. The word "PLATINUM" is also made much smaller. Overall, it now looks more like a silver card rather than a platinum card which is great especially to those who do not want people to know they are holding a platinum card smile.gif

Now you can transfer fund to certain banks and getting the fund in receiving account IMMEDIATELY using cimbclicks.  thumbup.gif

Refer Instant Transfer
Good to know more and more banks are offering this kind of instant fund transfer service. So, there are currently 3 banks offering this :
- Hong Leong Bank
- EON Bank
- CIMB Bank

By the way, the IBG service fee for CIMB Bank savings/current account has also been revised from RM2/IBG to RM1/IBG.

Anyone knows how does Citibank credit card fare in terms of exchange rate for overseas transaction ? I have charged AU$188.64 to my Citibank VISA which i received just this evening from Poslaju. Hopefully someone can post your transaction made in AU$ (if any) so we can compare the rates.

Thanks Miles..understood...
If you have HSBC or Citibank credit card that gives you lots of discount in certain countries such as Singapore and Hong Kong or if you have a Maybank credit card that gives a very favorable exchange rate, then yes. Definitely. Otherwise, cash probably will help you to minimize the loss in exchange rate better.

This is how it should be. Anyway, Cold Storage only accepts credit card if the amount is at least RM10. Guardian sets the minimum purchase limit using credit card to RM20 and if my memory serves me correctly, Giant in Sabah requires RM20 too.

Citibank normal Platinum credit card gives 5x point at Jusco which is equivalent to about 2.40% cash back if you redeem for a RM100 voucher with 21,000 points.
