I only found out about this last night. I booked the room at Park Taipei Hotel for US$405.80 through Expedia. I just check with Agoda just now and was quoted US$474.24 for four nights at the same hotel. Is the price quoted in Agoda after discount or what ? Even after the 7% discount, it is still more expensive than Expedia.

Anyway, i need to know if the price quoted in Agoda is after discount or not because i want to book a hotel room in Hong Kong next. Please let me know soon. Thanks in advance  smile.gif

I interested in purchasing HTC desire HD which is offer by digi, and i read the Q&A, it saying unable to pay installment.
If i wan to do installment, can i call out maybank customer support and ask them to make it as an installment plan for 1 year.
Does they provide 0% interest or not?
*
QUOTE(hye @ Dec 11 2010, 08:19 AM)
If you ask for a conversion for a purchase to installment plan from any bank, most of the time it'll be never be 0% ... Period.
The only exception to this is CIMB installment plan for education and medical fees if I'm not mistaken.
*
dont continue with ur maybank cc! if u swipe full amount then call maybank to convert 0% installment monthly, u will be charged 9%!

as hye said, all bank that offer 0% installment after swipe full amount (then call/sms bank) got 1 time upfront fee, except for cimb/da smart flexi-pay plan (10months) and alliance bank epp (6/12 months - current promo till 31dec).

if u really want it, go find mobile shop that offer 0% installment for ur card (maybank), or go apply alliance bank.
cimb/da smart flexi-pay plan not applicable for mobilephone purchase ~

QUOTE(vanderbilt @ Dec 11 2010, 02:44 PM)
i would like to ask you one question. let's say i am applying for my 3rd credit card ©, which scenario is better to get higher limit and better chance of being approved:

scenario 1 - card fully/almost utilized and been paying minimum
or
scenario 2 - card no outstanding at all

Was told most banks prefer scenario 2, but some say they like customers in scenario 1 better so that they can earn from the interest. What do you think?
*
i'm in scenario 2 and my application for ocbc is rejected sweat.gif

btw i never applied for credit card actually. usually i got it bcoz joining something or opening bank account with them.

maybank & rhb (rhb terminated already) - join palace vacation club and they applied for me.

hsbc - open saving acc (closed already the acc, but continue using cc)

da - open saving acc. that time still southern bank, still using both bank acc (now cimb) & cc

ambank - opening current acc (closed already the cc, but continue using acc)

uob - they approach me

ocbc - this is 1st time applying cc, last oct.
1st time applied using current cc (da >3 years) rejected, 2nd time using all documents also rejected.

tell us ur result then ok? laugh.gif

bout this transfer scheme can provide more detail?
*
this, u using credit card from other bank (not maybank) and have outstanding balance, then transfer it to maybank.
if u choose 12months, then no need to pay any 1 time upfront fee, and the balance will convert to 12months installment.

Added on December 11, 2010, 6:55 pmexample, using abc bank credit card and got rm7800 outstanding, transfer to maybank and u need to pay only rm650/month for 12 months.

When you convert, you still need to pay the RM50 GST also, right ?
*
there is no way bank will waived gst for new card.
each time new card had been approved, it will be charged with the gst, no matter if not swipe yet.
but several bank offer cash back, so u can use it to cover ur gst.

Is it true that HSBC cc got many privileges? Most of the shops asked me whether I have HSBC cc or not, so that I can get further discount for the item that I purchased..  sweat.gif
Currently I only have Maybank Sony cc.
Hong Leong classic and CIMB Gold DirectAccess are still on the delivery to my house  doh.gif

since the place u usually go ask for hsbc, then go apply hsbc ~

like me also, 1st 2 times go to baskin robbins paid via DA. the 3rd time paid via HSBC, and suprised - got 10% discount!
later always use HSBC to pay baskin robbins brows.gif

But I still need to pay RM50 government charges even I not activate it?

yes u are.
once card issued, considered u want it, no matter if u dont want to activated it. so need to pay that gst rm50.

but, if u currently using gold card, then bank just send u platinum card (free upgrade), this 1 as long as u dont activated it, u wont be charged with gst (continue using gold). same goes to replacement card, wont be charged gst too.

Hmm.. Then I just have to activate it bah, since now HL can waive that RM50 for new application.
Btw, how long I need to keep the card before I can really cancel it without any penalty or charges?
*
cancelling wont get any penalty or charges. only if u still have outstanding amount, then it will continue with the interest (better do balance transfer).
but since u are going to pay gst rm50 for a year, so better cancel it on the 11th month.
unless, u already received enough cash back to cover the gst, so u can cancel it anytime (usually after 6 months).

QUOTE(Centurion Lee @ Dec 12 2010, 08:09 AM)
I was at The Curve last October where I met this HSBC Senior Card Sales Executive. After listening to his explanation on the promotion of the HSBC Visa Platinum, such as cash bonus of RM50 on 1st swipe to cover the GST and 10% cash back on the 1st RM650 spend, I also signed up for the application. When I received my new card on the same month itself, I did the necessary spending wait for the GST and other rebates to be credited back on the following month statement. Still no refund on first month. Tilll this month, there's no refund being given. So I called up the Customer Service and they are unaware about the promotions. I cancelled the card on the spot. My advice to all who wants to apply credit cards, please be careful when you meet this kind on unscrupulous promoters.

always check with the bank website!

I want to settle all and forget about credit card... been using it for wedding preparation few mths back...

on the other hand, thats the only cash I got... I been thinking of paying my debt.. but got 1 of my frens giving me advise if u got the money use that for other purposes or just save it..
*
bank never give discount for full settlement. if yes then i would be rich now. haha tongue.gif

regarding paying the debt, u got 2 options - pay all ur credit card debt, or sign up new card from other bank that offer 0% for balance transfer. but dont use the new card. just pay the exact monthly payment till finish. so u get extra cash to spend/save biggrin.gif

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 12 2010, 07:33 PM)
I wonder why some merchant only accept credit card for goods which is more than RM50?  rclxub.gif
*
bcoz bank charge them for each transaction (example 2%) so they dont want to lose much. dats y also got shop that charge additional certain amount (1.8%, 2%, 3%) from total amount bcoz want to cover that charges. big company such as kfc / jusco might have a deal of that charge (maybe only 0.5%) coz their volume (total) sales per months. so if the shop u went stated min rm30 to swipe, then go add things to reach that min amount! tongue.gif

How about us contributing a list of merchants giving 5% and those are supposed to BUT didn't so that OCBC Titanium cardholder can make a reference here? Just a suggestion, peace ! TS, can you advise?

To start the ball rolling :
5% rebates

1) CARREFOUR-SRI PETALING
2) BHPETROL JALAN KUCHAI
3) COLD STORAGE-MONT KIAR
4) RED BOX IOI MALL
*
this, better u set up new threade especially for ocbc titanium.
and no need to put petrol station coz confirm it will get 5%.

dont trust them! brows.gif

its better to have black&white (example they mail/fax u the offer regarding free upgrade to another card with no gst).
so if they still charged u the gst u can fight back with that documents, rather than fight with "previously i called and the cs told me no gst" (no proof, unless u record the conversation) sweat.gif

*
QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 13 2010, 10:50 AM)
i see public bank offer 15% cash back and AMbank 20% cash back..  icon_idea.gif
*
it depends on where u spend, coz both got their advantages.

1. annual fee: both free for 1st year, 2nd year free with min 1swipe/month.

2. new application offer (consider this to waived gst) - spend certain amount within 1st 2 months:

ambg: free rm50 if spend rm350 (gold) / rm500 (platinum)
pbe: free rm50 if spend rm80 (gold) / free rm60 if spend rm80 (platinum)

3. extra new application offer: pbe apply online, get 8% cashback on 1st month bill (max rm80) / ambg - nill.

4. cashback promo (current):

ambg:
got rm12 annual fee.
sms to participate.
weekend only till 31/12/2010.
20% at all petrol station, block of rm50.
20% at selected hypermarket, block of rm100.
max rm80 per statement.
more info - http://www.ambg.com.my/ambank_webmedia/fil...K_GROCERIES.pdf

pbe:
no annual fee.
sms to participate.
till 28/2/2011.
15% weekdays, min rm50.
10% weekend, min rm50.
max rm100 per statement, rounded to nearest ringgit (cents wont count, example rm10.49 rebate will get rm10 only).
more info - http://www.pbebank.com/en/en_content/images/tc_db10.pdf

my conclusion: for now better go for pbe.
pbe got more cashback, extra 2 months than ambg, max cashback can get is rm300.
ambg only have 2 saturday & 1 sunday to go, max cashback can get is rm80 only.

or, just go apply both card! biggrin.gif

if the debit card got visa/mastercard logo, then yes.
but must have enough balance inside it ok? laugh.gif

btw, some petrol station will 'hold' certain amount for certain time.
example if using maybankard visa debit at caltex, maybank will hold rm200 for max 48hours.
u got rm300 inside, u pump rm60, then ur balance will be rm40.
so dont go swipe something cost rm50 after that! sweat.gif
after 2 days, ur rm200 will be credited back.
