there is no ranking of bank in terms of cc recognition.

there is only cc recognition of benefits (must meet qualification to apply) ~

Purchases made at petrol stations are also entitled to cash back, but no timeless bonus points are given.

I have mentioned many times in the last few versions of this thread, Alliance Platinum cc gives timeless bonus points to all retail transactions (except petrol), regardless of any amount spent.

if u always spend at platinum partners, then platinum card is the best (10x mr).

if normal usage, then yes, gold cc.

Amex is guaranteed 2.5% for petrol and groceries + other items like books, telco, cinema

PBB Esso is tiered based.

so if your majority spending is petrol and is in high tiers for PBB Esso, you can go for that

Choose your card based on your spending pattern and benefit needs.

i like how infinite and world cards are matte finish these days instead of flashy black surface. they provide the 'understated elegance' statement. cimb world infinite is of darker shade compared to maybank though.

my petrol is around rm 300 per month and i use other things also. the good side for PBB Esso is that it rebates following the tier but only got 0.5% rebate for other spending while AMEX got 2.5% for all spending include food and stuff?? i thought 5X points for certain things and 2X points for others right?

Agreed. While AMEX may give good promo but acceptance is very limited in Malaysia.
Using it overseas attracts an unattractive transaction fee too.

This is more of a personal preference but I'd rather not use a card where I have to think so many times where the merchant accepts it or not. Plus, I'd not use it overseas thus making my reason to use it even less.
