Go and try big companies as well. No harm there. First of all, what are your priorities? Time or Money? In O&G, you can only choose either one. Actually, in life as well, IMO.

hey hey, din expect to see you here.
Apart from time and money, I think there is another thing. Potential. Fresh grads like me do not have any solid working experience except from my internship exp. I guess there are only 2 choices for me.

Choice 1.
Try hard in getting a big cooperation and work hard inside hoping to be promoted asap.

or

Choice 2
Op for medium size cooperation. Learn and work hard for the first few years then jump into big cooperation based on your years of working exp and achievements. Which I believe its a more better way than working for big cooperation at first.

My opinion, to get into the big cooperation, we must have years of working exp and achievement ( which I don't have) or super duper high CGPA ( which I do not have either ( I am only at the border of lower-Upper second class).

I am going to op for choice 2. Choose a company with good potential. Learn more and work for few years then op for money.

Am I right? Just my 2cents then

For choice 1, if you can speak English fluently and your pointer is somewhere above 2.7, then chances might be there. Do not worry about experience, they will look for your confidence level and positive attitude. Experience will be a secondary thing. They will provide you with all the trainings. My elder brother is in one of these BIG players of O&G. I witnessed his progress.

Choice 2, it will be on job training. You could always opted for this as well. When you have enough experience(approx 3-5 years) you could always jump onto a bigger/better company. Most of my friends that are in this industry went for this option. Some of them even jumped onto better offers/companies after 2-3 years working with a small local companies.

Aramis is a good company, provides good trainings for their people, or from what I heard. I have had friends working there and others gotten job offer from there. Don't worry, it is a legit company.

Hmm..
what are their current projects? and is this engineering company or EPC or special consultancy in o&g?
i`m lack of information about it and their website couldn`t help much.
My biggest consideration is about working period. They offer me 6 months contract (although they said it could be extended or even hired as permanent staff). Is it common?

Thanks for your info

I couldn't provide much info on their current project.
It is a consulting company in the o&g field, but it's more to turn-key, project management, drafting/writing manuals for offshore procedures and such. Regarding the working period... I do have friends who did their internship with them, but I haven't got around to asking them about it yet. But such cases often occur in many MNC, where contractors are converted into permanent workers, it is common. But of course, it all base on your performance. It is often not a promise to make you permanent, but rather, depends on your performance.

When it comes to the Oil & Gas industry, the Oil and Gas Asia Exhibition (OGA) comes to mind instantly. OGA has established itself as the regional no. 1 oil & gas show with proven successful track records over the past decade.

OGA returns this year, making its 13th appearance from the 1st - 3rd June 2011 at the state-of-the-art Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. OGA 2011 aims to set a new record as being "THE" O&G event in this region.

With Asia paving its pathway to the development of the oil and gas sector, OGA 2011 provides just that by creating an ideal place for the industry players to gather, exchange information, network and make important procurement decisions. This is the place to be if you are seeking business opportunities.

The recent announcement by the Malaysian Government of the new tax incentives has raised expectations to see a rise in the activities of oil & gas industry this year. Plans to have more strategic collaborations with ASEAN countries are anticipated for the year 2011. In view of this, the government along with Malaysia biggest oil & gas company, Petronas have allocated a capital expenditure of approximately RM40 billion ($13.15 billion) for 2011.

With more than 20,000 visitors expected to attend this showcasing of the latest in technology and products in the oil and gas industry, it would be best to pre-register yourself to enjoy benefits of pre-booking your visitor badge and obtaining them from the dedicated “Pre-Reg counters at the exhibition for hassle free entrance.
