Heard that the is a 1 year contract for engineers there...will they extend or offer perm after 1 year contract?

Many Thanks!

I got couple of friends working in kencana petroleum for the past few years. Thing is you need to know that under kencana petroleum they got like bestwide, HL, pinewell and many more.

But unfortunately so far I did not heard that they absorb the contract workers into permanent.

But good thing is they just join consortium with other pleyer for a new awarded project from petronas..& there is a lot of vacancy =)

Kenchana is heavy on Supply vessels and fabrication work. They have a big site in Lumut IIANM. The project they got was the Bergading field (Risk Service Award), a JV with Petrofac Malaysia (Operator).

As someone mentioned previously, at the end of the day, you may want to work with an Operator as in the grand scheme of things, the Operator is the boss and all vendors will need to come to you for any projects.

Hie everyone, I would like to have opinions on my current condition...My background is Economics & Finance...

I joined a service provider O&G company as a graduate trainee last year (1 year working experience now) after graduating overseas...

My first dept was in COO's office, mainly dealing with figures and projects (non technical)...

My second dept which is now (been here 4 months) is in operations, dealing with technical stuffs and they put me there permanently now....doing engineering stuffs but not too technical...I proved to them that I could do the job even without engineering degree as I did do 2 years of engineering before I changed my degree...

Ermm question and dilemma is now that I got an offer from the operator side but it's Marketing & Sales...way higher pay than my current one though...

Current job is operations which I think is more essential in O&G but lower pay and worry I won't have a future in it cause hard to get promoted without engineering degree...

Offered job is non technical at all in O&G but higher pay at the moment but worry will be stuck there forever and can't branch out...

So, please advise me what to do? as in job future and pay too.... hmm.gif

hi hello.
i scrolled a few pages in the old thread looking for an answer ~

a schlumberger recruiter was recently at my school, and people were leaving CVs, applying for a job position etc. i happened to be there by luck, and got asked to be in the interview spot the day after.
since it was schlumberger and i'm majoring in geophysical engineering i naturally went there. passed the first day's (exercises?) interviews. the second day was a bit more stressful, but the whole thing went positive, at least that's what i think.

the recruiter guy told me that to be honest, he didn't think i had the motivation to be a field engineer so he was gonna direct my application to western geco. he also told me that about 1% of the applicants he'd sent them got rejected.
since everything happened purely out of luck, i felt fine by it.

couple of days ago (10th of march) some chinese lady from western geco called me and asked me a few questions. i guess she was checking if my CV was correct or something. about 15 minutes later she said thanks and hung up.
it's been 4 days, and i can't believe i'm fretting like this.

my friend who was with me during the interviews got an offer from schlumberger on 11th. i didn't get anything. i just wonder if i got rejected and will not be notified via e-mail.
does that happen? do companies just leave people hanging like that? this was my first serious job interview, and have no idea how much i should wait (or just - - stop checking my e-mails every hour like an obsessed person)

dude. It is your call to follow up with them. Show your interest & don't just starring in front of your lappy waiting for an email to come. Just wait for a week, and give them a call ask for a status. And trust me, do not ask them questions like you are desperate to secure that job.

Good luck!

After waiting for several months, Rosen finally offered me the job as a Maintenance Engineer. I know that this job won't have to go to offshore unless needed too.

Follow ups were made and thankfully, it bears fruit.

Now my question is, what about that medical examination/checkup? Normal like any others or any special thing?
